[Q] vivo-tiamat-ics-031412 for S-ON - HTC Incredible S

Hi,
The new Tiamat ICS kernal is out, but I can only find it as a .zip, and since I'm HTC unlocked with S-ON I can't flash it.
Any ideas how I can get a .img to flash via fastboot, as here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23118821&postcount=243 for the previous version.
Thanks.

Hi,
You can flash with kernel manager app from google play. But you need kernel manager full for flash from sd card.

One thing you could try is booting into recovery from fastboot mode:
fastboot boot recovery.img
Then reflash the ROM and it should update correctly. Found this tip in the HTC Evo 3D forum.

I updated that post in your link, OP to include tiamat 03-14 ICS kernel.
Please have the courtesy to click on tiamat's download link. The dev there would like accurate counts of how many people download the kernel.

Perfect. Thanks.

Please help

I have ICS on my HTC vivid, I don't lke it at all I want a regular sense 3.5 Rom like rolliraider, or rumraider. It won't let me boot into recovery...I don't know what to do please help me
what do you mean it won't let you boot into recovery? are you pressing the correct buttons?
Did you unlock the bootloader and flash CWM recovery?
Also why did you create a new thread when the other one created asked the same question?

If you ota upgraded to ics thats why you can't get into recovery.
You gotta have a nonstock recovery (ie: CWM, or WC's recovery)
You'll have to flash a new boot.img, a GB friendly kernel, possibly reflash the cwm recovery (All through fastboot usb) and then flash the GB rom you want.

Request Rogers stock recovery Please

I have to return my phone and I cannot get my stock recovery back onto my One. I followed the instructions that were played out in the guide I used but either did something wrong, or accidentally deleted the initial backup.
If anyone with the rogers variant could please help me by providing the stock rogers recovery.img i would be forever indebted to you. A stock nandroid would also work.

This thread has the OTA for rogers. In the folder there should be a firmware.zip file that contains a recovery. I was able to use the to upgrade to 1.29.631.17 from .4 (took 3 restarts) but I never tried to the 4.3 update.

so is the firmware.zip the Stock recovery file? If i flash it, will i go back to Stock recovery?
Currently i am on Stock Rom, but the recovery is TWRP... so if i try to update the latest 4.3 by Rogers, it opens up the TWRP recovery and sits there.,..

[Q] Update won't install on Stock Rooted with TWRP

HTC Pushed an update to my HTC One Dev Ed tonight..
1.29.1540.16
When it tries to flash the update it just goes into TWRP recovery. No other actions.
I then drilled down to the directory that it downloaded to /data/media/downloads and tried to flash with TWRP.. no dice.
Here is the update.. but honestly I don't know what it does.
any Idea on what is preventing the flash?

You must go back to stock recovery in order for the update to successfully flash on your device.
You don't need the update from HTC, just go and flash the latest revolution 10.2 rom, it is running 4.2.2 and it has some nice performance tweaks. And it isn't modified so it's running sense 5.

How to do you go back to a stock recovery? Been down that road and it still didn't update.

For some of us, going to a different ROM is not a viable choice, and frankly a solution to load a different ROM does not answer the original question.
Hi I have the same problem here.
When I try to install stock 4.2.2, the phone reboot & automatically enter TWRP & thus stock update was unable to run.

None of the HTC direct updates will work while TWRP is installed.
you will have to
Fastboot flash (stock recovery .img)
then the updated from HTC works with no problems. pst if you can't find the img

Use wcx recovery in version 2.2 of hasoons toolkit. Wipe system, dalvik, cache, data, and do a factory reset all in wcx recovery then flash the rom then flash the correct gaps for cm10.1 or android 4.2.2 then go into the bootloader (advanced option) then flash the boot.img (fastboot flash boot boot.img)

Your device mobo is probably going bad and needs more power than usual to run it. Sorry. If i can get linux to boot I'll send a kernel your way to flash and see if it fixes the problem
Try overvolting the CPU, with an init.d script, that should stop it freezing up, init.d because you won't have a chance of doing it with an app

In the bootloader boot a recovery if you are s-on
"fastboot boot recovery recovery.img"
Sultans thread (android12345*) his kernel thread has details on how to do it
If you are s-off just flash this. This has higher voltages. Maybe itll help ya

Please send a kernal. Also, how would I flash it without S-off. Could this also cause digitizer issues? i've been seeing like a 10% line in my phones that spams touch now.
Please do I need to download any kernel to flash my HTC with cyanogenmod 10?

Last post of the first page I already attached the kernel. With a recovery.img in fastboot do "fastboot boot recovery (nameofimgfile).img" Its in android1234567's sultan kernel thread in the vivid development. all instructions are there

[Q] Made a huge mistake!!

Hi,

I followed the instruction of the red but installed the boot.img of an s-on ROM. Now my phone stay blocked on the HTC logo and reboot for ever.
I tried to restore the stock rom i backed up just before via CWM but this doesn't fix the problem.
What can i do?

There is no ROM installed on your deivce or you have flashed the wrong img.file..If im not mistaken u have flashed it over and s-on device was it dev unlocked? . If u can boot into recovery try to mount the sd card via the recovery and install a stock rom and flash the boot.img (extracted from the rom) via CMD
If your device says RELOCKED in bootloader just got to htcdev web and unlock the device again
thx for quick answer
i installed the boot.img of the revolution hd rom : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1088498
i just installed the boot.img of the rom. not the rom. After that i tried flash data, dalvik... and did the restore but the phone is still blocked
i tried to install an other stock rom but all the rom i found from htc are CRC rom and i don't know how to install them (the is tar.gz file).

Ok
1. Post exactly what it says in the bootloader screen. (Take a picture or just type it all out)
2. Follow through the entire guide to the bottom. You will need S-OFF for some ROMs.
3. The stuff you find in the downloads section on htcdev.com is mostly kernel sources.
4. You need to flash the ENTIRE ROM through recovery. The boot.img just contains some kernel parts while the ROM contains the apps and the framework, bootanimation etc. (you didn't actually think an android system could be compressed down to about 1mb did you ._. )

What you downloaded from htcdev.com wasn't a ROM or an RUU. It was a kernel source...
And to find a flashable ROM, go to android development section for the HTC Incredible S here on XDA. Find a ROM, and click download link in the OP of the respective ROM page.
