Kaiser support for Device Update.

Hi all,
After finishing off v2 of Device Update for the Hermes, I'm looking at making it more compatible with other devices. The next on my list is the Kaiser
Could I get a few people to message me to try a new version of Device Update that should work correctly (and not show Hermes only apps) on the Kaiser.

EDIT: I've had someone test it on Kaiser and all should be well...
That being said, I've attached v2.0.7.8 to this post for all of you to test

Havent heard of it till now, but looks great. Bring it on! (to the kaiser I mean )
Also what makes this much different than App2Date? (asking because I know someone will at some point)

Lots.
#1 - I do the hosting for your apps. I've served nearly 800 apps in the last 6 hours or so.
#2 - People can browse the index of software.
#3 - Automatic updates is only a side effect - but a major bonus.
#4 - Custom written geo-location based mirroring gives the user the fastest speeds no matter where they are on the planet
#5 - everything between the servers & clients is compressed - this means faster transfers and less data transfer.
And there's probably more

So when is this going to be avail?????

Mate! I didn't know you had a Kaiser...
The build is just about ready, I'm just putting some final touches on it today. I should have something for you guys in about 5 hours or so...
I'll send you both a build via PM to test...

For those interested, I've attached a copy of v2.0.7.8 as a beta test on the Kaiser.
In theory all should work. If not, please reply to this thread.

Awesome - good to hear.
I'm in the middle of writing some documents for ROM cooks and developers on how everything works within DU so it can be included in peoples ROMs and also how people can make their CABs DU compatible...
Hopefully I'll be able to get something finalised real soon. DU has pretty much become standard in all ROMs for Hermes

Yes and no. All packages installed via DeviceUpdate will show if an update is available. You will see this as a category up the top labeled "Available Updates". We don't however have a way of tracking if an application is installed from another source - as we use registry entries to track packages.
This means it is possible to see an app on the Device Update index that is already installed from a different source. At the moment, we leave this up to the user to detect.

Only thing i cant figure out is where the themes go when i download them...or are they not m2d themes? Only one i downloaded was the flat black theme and for the life of me i cant find it. I just got it to test that it worked as well. Ive already got over 20 themes so i dont need it But i even used the search on the phone and cant find it.

The themes are standard Windows Mobile themes - not M2D themes.

Fantastic application.
I was using this in my HTC Touch (ELF) before.
I just bought a Kaiser (TYTN II) and installed the latest Device Update into it.
Tried installing "HTC Home Customizer" and a few other apps but evertime get a error "WCELoad Returned Code: 2147024891".
What is this error code and how can i fix it and let Device Update install apps in my Kaiser.

New swype beta

Does anyone know if the new swype beta is compatable with the eris? Trying to find it for my wife and have had no luck.

Hey guys I'm really having a hard time making double letters in this new version, it just doesn't seem to work. Old one worked fine before it expired. Any ideas??

I just tried some words with double letters and like Vince its not working well.
after playing around with it for a few found that it seems like the program is not tracking correctly. I have tried the Speed VS Accuracy and it didn't help much if any. I my have to give shapewriter a shot.

My wifes swype was working fine til this morning, then she got trial ended error, I don't understand why swype writes their program to only last a couple days. Pretty shady. Gonna have her try the other one that was uploaded

my swype expired today and this version worked for me. double letters are fine.

I've had the same issue with TWO different versions of Swype now. I'll try this one out and pray it works. I don't see why it isn't released, but ugh, whatever.

So, what you need to do is go into your settings>Language & Keyboard and make sure the box next to Swype is checked. If there is no box there, then the install did not work right. Once you have the box checked, then go into a program that you would be able to type something (text, email, browser, etc) and long press in the box you want to type in. It will come up with some options like copy/paste/input selection. You'll want to choose input selection and then you should be able to choose Swype as your go to keyboard. Hope this helps...

Just thought I'd pop in here and say that if you go to beta.swype.com, you can get into the public beta for the next couple days. This'll let you get the actual current updates.

It's because they haven't released it yet. They have several BETA versions that they're testing. This is why you can't find it on the market. There is ONE version out there with a license that won't give you a "trial period ended" error, but few have it. This is for testing purposes, though it may be annoying for you and others, this is what will make it such great app, extensive testing. It should be soon...looks like they've almost got it nailed down.
FWIW, none of us are even supposed to have this app...be thankful you've gotten to play with it.

I have swype with a license that won't expire. I downloaded it from another thread in the eris forums. Awesome app.

Telmap Navigator for O2 Germany customers

Hi, I have bought the HD7 from O2 DE and in the hubs is Telmap Navigator, which says, that its free for O2 DE customers.
Does anybody know when it will be available? In the hub is says in a while...

Latest info from O2 (11 hours ago) says, it´ll probably out in about 2 weeks from now.

And? I think, that maps could be bought.

But I have a feeling, that the application will not arrive until the MS update, because this one could be the one which would deserve multitasking...
And by the way, I think, that the OS already has multitasking, but has only list of allowed apps which can run in this mode. Otherwise it would not synchronize emails on background or play the music in background.

is there some more info on the telmap navigator ?

that there is some kind of install file on hour phone (.xap is the same as .cab on wm6.5)
I think that telmap is on hour phone and that we get a update (automatic) from marketplace that will activate it .
my problem is that for now I can't see the file size

This is what I am expecting that will happen when the full version will be available. And also it is the reason why I haven't uninstall it.

It looks that the navigation is already out, but still not available as an upgrade for the german O2 customers.

Anyone Have The Latest Facebook.apk?

The latest market has this issue with telling me apps aren't compatible with my device, and it just decided Facebook is no longer compatible. I removed it and went to download it again but it won't let me.
Can someone post a link for me to the apk, please.

Sorry to hear, but it's good to hear at the same time. I've been getting that a lot as well and am tired of it. I thought it was just specific to us in Belgium. Is that Google's way of getting us to upgrade from the N1?

Yeah, Yahoo Fantasy Football says its not compatible as well. I've been seeing it lately out of no where. It's really frustrating.

Are you guys using density changer? I read in another thread that it will cause the not compatible issue.

Yes I am. I changed it back to normal for a day and got the same results. Should I of waited longer?

I do mine manually through build.prop but yes, I do change it.

That was it. Reset to 240 (N1 default), cleared all cache from Market 3.1.3, basically running it for the first time, and I had 18 updates available. Thanks for the advise!!

I didn't have any issue with the update for Facebook at all.

Nokia City Lens Beta for all models

I found this file in a chinese forum. I tested and yay, it works perfectly on my HD7. But sadly it's chinese version... So, is there anyway to translate it to English?

deploy first the beta xap from the other thread
and then over it the chinese version
works perfectly in my lg optimus 7

hm, this does not work for me. When I deploy the file from the first thread it wont run, telling me my license is invalid.
If I deploy this version on top of the other (using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1637222 ), I get the chinese version of this app

I first patched the original file with this tool

What "compass issue"? I don't have any issues with compass... Probably your Lumia 900 is defective.

Yeah - I have the compass issue on my Focus S - says to calibrate the compass and the message never goes away.

For me, basically every app that uses a compass takes me a while to calibrate. This is with both an HTC Arrive and a Nokia Lumia 900. I just keep waving it around in a big figure-8, hoping no one notices.

it takes like minute the first time you use it (at least on my lumia 800). Hold your arm straight and wave big figure 8s. Just do it only by yourself in a confined space as if you do it in public people will thing you are insane.

Worked for me on HD7.
