I have a very weird issue with my phone. I flashed quite a few different roms and at one point I started to notice this flickering screen. It flickered no matter what screen I was on. The problem would come and go and just sort itself out somehow. Then I noticed a more serious problem. The screen would go super washed out. No display settings would fix it. This happened while using various roms. In the past it fixed itself and again, I don't know why. Today it happened again. I'm currently running an ICS rom, the Midnote 2.0 which is I think the very best ICS rom and it was running wonderfully. I was very happy with it. Suddenly the screen went crazy bright, washed out with extreme banding. It basically looked like a low resolution jpeg. Everywhere. I tried a lot of things to sort it out. I was at the point of calling tech support and I realized, there is no tech support!!! The guy from support for the US version of the Note told me that my phone was made in Japan (which sounds like nonsense) and that it would have to go back to Japan for repair. He gave me a phone number.
Eventually, after hours, I flash my Note back to it's original factory rom. The problem persisted. Then, having nothing to lose, I rooted it again and flash DarkyNote rom which also is a nice rom. After a few minutes, the screen flickered and went back to normal.
I have no idea if it will stay that way though. My fear is that this is going to happen again and who knows if it will stay that way next time. And I had no idea that there was essentially, NO SUPPORT!
I had wonderful tech support for my international HD2. I called them up with an 800 number and told them that I bricked it up by flashing roms and they replied, it's under warranty so the repair costed me like 16 dollars. LOL No problem. Samsung seems like a different ballgame. This has been an eye opener for me. This might be my last international phone.
Crap, during the space of this post, the screen has gone back to super bright.
Sounds like a hardware issue to me.
USB?

Sorry to hear about your trials! I read on another thread somewhere about similar issues (can't remember where sorry!) The offender seemed to be the USB charging port was a bit damp and caused charging issues and weird things happening. Pushing the USB cable into the charging port and pushing it at the right angle seemed to fix it. Someone else had to use a flat blade screwdriver to get the internal USB port at the right angle.
May be totally barking up the wrong tree, but who knows - it may help? Otherwise push your local support. I'm in Australia and the Note has still not been released here officially so hope I never have to get support as there is no-one locally!
Good luck and let me know how you go!

I have done a reasonable amount of searching on this and have not found anything specific to my problem so figured I should post a question.
I have an issue with my Dimaond when it gets hot generally either using Wifi or Phone Data connection that the screen goes out. Basically everything goes to the left side of the phone so if you hit the Task Icon in the top right corner you get the Start Menu. Phone is basically useless at this point and you have to wait for it to cool down. Has happened since day one and is generally worse when using it when charging. I was watching Utube on it the other night 5min video while on AC charge and it went out. I am running Dutty 2.5 Rom and 25.07 radio have tryed 25.08 and 25.05 no difference was happening when the phone had orginal HTC ROM as well. Also will happen on a long call if the screen is on.
Basically feel issue is hardware related and maybe faulty screen still under warrenty so wanted to know peoples opinion on weather I should send back. Problem is will take a couple of weeks and I don't really wnat to wait that long if I can help it. Also assume it would be best to flash standard ROM back, should I do anything with HARDSPL eg should this be changed back as well if I send it back.
And before anyone says it I have tryed searching this topic and have found lots about HOT dimaonds but nothing related to screen going out at the same time :-(
Thanks
I had this issue in my JasJam (Hermes) whre the screen would simply go white after a while of use and I would have to leave it for a while for it to work again.
Unfortunately it sa hardware issue and you should claim a warranty repair on it
I can't see how this could be a software problem so I figured it must be the screen eg hardware related. Would be nice to know if anyone has had the same issue with a dimaond... Seems we may be spending some time apart, just hope it doesn't take long to fix..
I've had the same issue
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=428976
My first device had been replaced recently (i.e. today) by my network provider (o2) and the new device seems to work without any problems now even if it's "hot".
(i.e. default screen adjustment + creating heat by activating the phone, wlan, bt + recharging it)
I sent an email to HTC regarding the fault and they said it would have to go back for a warrenty repair. I brought it through a resellar so has to go back to HK from NZ so will be away three weeks uurggghhh... Just seems odd I don't have any physical damage on the screen but hte problem has been around since day one as I remember having the problem the first day I got it. Juyst seems to be getting worse and is easily reproduced by usiung utube over wifi gets hot and it is all over. Just wondering if I should put an offical ROM from HTC back on the device before I send it back as I currenty am running Dutty ROM, what do you think....
i put the original rom back on and they still found out the the rom had been flashed, and would not repair on warranty
yep, i also asked about this problem
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=438733
there are some youtube video's of how the phone behaves
my phone seems to do it less frequently since stopping using panosha's rom
im using alpha zero 7 at the moment..
i've also noticed that it isnt necessarily a heat issue, my phone does it completely at random
yesterday i found though, that when the phone did the alignment issue, i gave it a good shake.. and hey.. its all aligned again?!
maybe it was just a fluke, it hasnt freaked out since..
holding thumbs
Hey,
I also have the same screen problem, but my Alignment goes to right.
If I press on the left side, a press on the right side is recognized.
Good to know that Im not the only one with this problem.
greets doena
I got my phone back a week ago replaced the screen has been away for over two months, complete disaster, anyway all sorted now and I have not had the problem since....
I had this exact same issue (out of the box).
It was a hardware fault and I exchanged it for another one.
Haven't had any problems since.

Hardware's fault ? Most likely not. I will give u an example of why I think it was software related. My device ran hot as well but I simply switched roms and now it's the complete opposite. Your most recent device most likely come with a different Rom in the phone.
So the phone (XT860 Bell) has problems when I unlock it the screen stays black. The phone works though cause when someone calls I can still pick up as I know somewhat where the green button is. But for the rest I can't do anything.
The only way to get the phone back is to remove the battery and restart the phone. Then it works again.
Anyone else had this problem?
have you tried hard resetting it?
No will do so. But before doing that I thought maybe there is some simple solution.
After the update to 2.3.6 things went all a bit wrong I think.
If you got this after the update, I am quite confident data wipe will solve your problem. You can try wiping cache only first - this way you won't lose your configuration and might solve the problem. The update supposedly wipes cache, but maybe that didn't work properly while you were updating. Enter stock recovery and give it a try.
Hey thanks for the help. But just did a reset. Not sure what went wrong when I did the update. Did wipe. Annnnyways. Right now it's stable. Let's see if it stays like this.
Ok sadly the reset didn't fix it. It took a whole day to go black again but still happened.
Any other solutions? I am scared that it's a hardware failure...but let's hope not cause I am in Holland.
I have the droid 3 and the same exact thing is happening to me. Sorry to tell you this but it has to deal wit the connector between the keyboard and screen. I've taken mine to get checked by a "phone doctor" and they told me that. I will tell you this now ,since it is still in the early stages, it's going to get worse to the point that it will stay black. Get it fixed by a techy or get a replacement soon. Mine reached it's point today and I am going to need to get it fixed. Hope it helps.

Doesn't sound good man :-(......
Though it happened a lot the passed days since the reset ( knock on wood) only once. Do wonder why it happens less now.
Yea you can reset all you want it's going to go blank. I had to right the dial pad numbers with marker on the screen just to make calls. I say get it fixed or replaced soon
I've got the same issue here. I know the thread is old, but I'm from the Netherlands (just like eezdva) and would like to know how to repair this.

If you can't take it back and want to try to fix it yourself you need to search for a droid 3 flex cable. The one you want has the front facing camera, front sensors and earpiece speaker on it. Then head on over to ifixit for a teardown guide (sorry no repair manual yet, I plan on working on one).
I have to add that taking this phone apart to replace this part is no small feat, and it would probably be better finding a phone doctor to do it for you, or just getting a new phone.
When you buy the part, request an OEM part, I have been sent cables where the front facing camera displays sideways, or doesn't work at all. Most also don't come with the front button deflector, and that has to be transferred from the old cable.
Hope this helps
Ok . Well I don't really know what the problem is. But it went away. Actually it started I think after applying the update . I got myself another external sdcard . At a certain moment I decided to remove it and things cooled down. It now actually never happens anymore.
Well I gues you're lucky!
My screen sometimes starts all scrambled and the phone doesn't power on. Sliding the screen a couple of time sometimes helpes, but most of the time I don't really know howto get the phone working again. I think it's more stable when I leave the phone 'slided out' (don't know the right word now).
And I searched Motorolas website and found 2 reparing companies in the Netherlands. They both are authorized by Motorola, as of such I think this repair will be in warranty.
I do have to send it for repair. I don't want to take it apart because of what bitz_dv said. I'll let you know!
No Fix
When I was gone on a short holiday my college got a call from the 'authorized' motorola repair center. They can't fix my phone. I need to pay 11 euro to get it back and that's it. I tried calling them but there was no answer.
I sended my phone in on 22 may 2012 and now they decided they can't repair it. I spoke to Ted from Negri Electronics who told me to get in touch with Motorola as my warranty is still valid.
I'm a little confused, where should I go if an official repair center can't fix my phone but do tell me the repair is within warranty..
What can I do? Besides ordering the parts and take the phone apart myself..
I started my search for the flex cable... I did repair a N97 once, within the warranty period and later on sended it in and they repaired it under warranty....
Is this the cable I'm searching for:
http://www.globaldirectparts.com/Motorola-Droid-3-XT862-Motherboard-Flex-Ribbon-p/mot1040660.htm
I am from Netherlands, and have the same problem with the screen, looks like many users from Netherlands do.. coincidence?
When i jst slide out the keyboard , a little bit is enough, and the screen goes black ( black screen of death ) it doesnt power on with power button.
I looked for a flex cable at ebay, and it surprised me , that cable is also doing the front camera, and speaker... My front camera wasnt working too, and speaker made strange sounds many times, so it could be that cable, but not sure.
Check my thread, i have also uploaded a video to make it more clear

Hi all, I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem with the Note? I've seen it reported for other phones but in the Note forum, most complaints about the screen are about colour reproduction. It is extremely frustrating and I was hoping someone had any idea? I had already done a factory reset, took it to the Carphone Warehouse (the authorized Samsung service center near where I live) and they reflashed it with a Polish firmware, and it still has the problem.
Video of problem: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAAWDwPVYmk
-------------Copy from subsequent post below-----------------
No problem. IIRC, *#0*# is the standard Samsung screen test code. (Personally I only tested this code on the Note and my SGS, which I used to film the video). I had also noticed that it usually happened after a bit of running (I ran an intensive flash video for 5-6 minutes). But then it started to happen just after I turned it on in the morning even when the phone was cold.
If this problem is really bothering you, I recommend you go straight to Samsung. The service I got here in the UK has been great so far. I sent it in and 2 days later, they told me they had replaced the screen and were testing it. If all goes well, I should have it back early next week. The phone number for the UK is 0330 7267864 if anyone is interested.

Having similar problem.
On mine, the issue is intermittent. Luckily I can now reproduce the problem by pressing the top side of the phone corner here and there and screen jitters/scrolls down/un responsive.
Same problem on mine...
I'm experiencing the same issue on mine as well, but only intermittently. I noticed it happens after I've been using the Note for a while and when it gets warm. I don't know if it's heat related. I still have to do more testing, but it seems like the problem immediately goes away when I plug it into the charger.
Thanks for posting the video, now I know there's a built in utility for testing the LCD

I wish I could send it back somewhere. I'm in the US, and the Note was a gift from a relative in the Philippines, who bought it from an importer. It looks like it was originally meant for Germany, so Samsung USA doesn't want to repair it, even when I offered to pay. Same response from Samsung UK.
The problem seems to be more apparent now with ICS (stock). Just like before, the problem crops up after some use when the phone and/or battery gets warm. Oddly enough, the problem immediately GOES AWAY as soon as I plug it into the charger.
temp fixes?
Anyone come up with a work around to this.
I made a portable charger at first, but now it dose it when its plugged too
maybe disable finger touches and just use the spen?
Hello there!
As some of you already know, but some probable don't, the B is a variation of the Galaxy S made for the regional area of Brazil, and it has some differences from the usual i9000, but hopefully not so many that someone well versed in this hardware won't be able to help me out.
A couple weeks ago, i installed a custom ROM, based on JB 4.1.1 with Devil Kernel, and it worked perfect for about two weeks, but after that the screen would go out sometimes and i would need to get the battery out and do a hard reset. I thought it was something wrong with the ROM and that the phone wasn't exactly in good terms with it. But alas, it got worse. And up to a point in which the i9000B would just power up, you would be able to hear the initial sounds of Samsung intro, and after it had completely booted up, you could feel the haptic vibrational responde from the touch of the screen, everything worked perfect, but the screen was off, the buttons light up, but the screen doesn't. Hold that thought.
With such, i tried many 'resurection' ROMs, to mixed results, but in the end the only real success i had was kind of sheer luck, for the screen would go out again after a certain amount of time, not to get back again. I really thought that somehow there had been some kind of unprovoked physical damage to the phone itself, and that was the reason for the black screen.
But these past days i sort of made a breakthrough, so much for serendipity: i found out that applying pressure (not too much, not too little) in the area immediatly above the middle of the screen, it would stay lit normally. The exact place would be the center following a line that crosses the screen beginning at the bottom of the Vol Down button.
Whole story explained, i just would like for someone more technically versed than yours truly to explain me what the hell is going on with this device, what could be causing it to act that way, and most importantly, how can i fix this, and if i fix this that nothing is going to happen again in case i install, say, CM10. Some help please? I really want to fix this phone, it is already past being a mere challenge at this point.
Regards,
....
the best thing to do in this case is flash stock rom with odin ...
and claim ur warranty and let samsung pay for their defective piece,,,
I have looked up all the threads relating to an issue with some galaxy notes going pink all of a sudden. The thing is I can't find a viable fix for the problem.
I had never disassembled my phone and the screen slowly turned purple and started blackening out. It was fully functional. This I knew because I connected it to my Windows 7 computer and used Android Commander. I ordered a new screen complete with bezel etc. I have two batteries, the first didn't even charge after I put it in the phone (it had drained totally during the wait for the new screen and went dead), the second was partially charged and allowed the screen to boot. It is however behaving like the first screen did before it went black, that is purple. I am sure I have not done anything wrong with the connections when I dismantled it. Could it be the batteries? or the adapter flex? I just hope it is not the mainboard. It is not on warranty and we don't have that many honest phone specialists around where I live. I am almost sure others have experienced the same problem and someone on xda knows what the problem is. If you do I would be indebted.
Whites show up ok on startup but turn immediately pink. Blues are a big problem. I think that it must be software because from bright white it turns pink, and at the moment it screen brightness is at full intensity it is ok for a time. However don't want to leave it at full intensity. I have tried changing screen intensity and unchecking screen power usage in Settings/display.
I was on Ultimate JB rom, but have just gone to stock JB Rom (Germany LT4) same problem.
Please help.
Thanks
Instead of wasting money and time, go to a Samsung Service Center and get it fixed. Someone in this forum (i guess he was from Brazil or Portugal) has the same problem when he updated to ICS or Jelly Bean but worked fine with gingerbread. Flash a GB rom from Dr.ketan post and look if it works. If still has the same problem, go to a Samsung Official Service. Good luck and sorry my bad english
Thanks for the advice
I'll try it out.
