I am wanting to build a new tab kernel for gb. I am a noob but I am pretty good with Linux Cl. I downloaded the source from Samsung site. Is that only for their Roms with touchwiz or could I use it with cm7? Also where should I look for source to add different governors to the kernel? Thanks for any help.

I'm actually just looking for a list of roms and kernels made for the captivate. Its not too hard to find one rom searching through the AD section but its more complicated to find a list of all roms . Besides I know nothing of these forums, as I am a user of the evo 4G myself, so any help would be appreciated.

Hi, I'm looking for a custom rom for a Sprint Tab 7. anyone knows where I can find one?. I have tryed the CM7 but wifi won't work all the time on it.
Right now there really are only 2 good options for the sprint tabs.. Jt's cm7 kang, or the stock rooted that rodderik posted in his sprint mega dev thread. Sadly those are our only good working options.. I've been running Jt's cm7 since I found it, and haven't had any issues with wifi, other than the fact that it for some reason changes the wifi mac id with each update.

Whats the link for that J rom and is it much better than stock.

Semaphore works just fine on 2.9. look in the dev thread and read a bit about the features. Devil works just fine also and has tons more features. Again, take the time to read mainly the OP's of the associated threads to figure out which additional config apps to use and how the features work. Utilize the search function if necessary
Semaphore http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1816087 Choose the sc (slim captivate) version .zip and flash in recovery
Devil http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1811313
Devil downloads are located here. http://rootaxbox.no-ip.org/derteufel/jellybean/Cappy/181/
Choose the .zips of either the CMC (cyanogen mod color) or VC (voodoo color mod) and flash in recovery.
Don't use the .tars unless you plan on flashing with odin
Now that i've spoon fed you the material, i hope you take my advise and do some reading, otherwise i or someone will try to assist you in unbricking your device
Thanks a lot I will definitely read up on some things

so i have a samsung vibrant and i do ports from the i 9000 to the vibrant. mymost recent port was built on the mackay kernel. therefore when i created this rom it is extremely laggy since i have it running semaphore. vibrant has no mackay kernel. therefore is it possible to port kernels as i dont know how to build a kernel from source.
if by port u mean like those rom porting method ie copy pasting binaries, no, u cant. u still need to recompile kernel from source.
kernel binary is specific to which device it compiled for, not cross compatible to other device even if the other device is identical.
assuming the sgs and vibrant got similar specs which would make the "port" easier, u need to grab the sgs kernel source u meant to "port", make required changes to it then compile.
thats kernel port, need to recompile from source one way or another.
yeah ive got a LOT of reading to do like for example: learning how to compile, learning what i need in general to create the kernel. thanks man

You should by start by building a simple kernel from proper sources imho
So if there is no actual open source for jellybean for my phone do I download a kernel that's already been built in my phones section and use use that as a base?

You can't use an existing kernel as "base", you have to getthe aource
Well I got some research to do then because Samsung dropped the vibrant a while ago

No worries mate. This isn't the first thread which popped up with a question in it.
Edit
Hi all,
My wife is using an international Samsung Galaxy Note.
As all of you have already know the performance of the phone has been degraded more and more as upgrades are added to it. I have wiped the phone and downgraded to 4.0.4 but wouldn't help.
I didn't know pay attention to the development of third party ROM for Samsung Galaxy Note. So I would be much appreciated if some of your can tell me which ROM is close to Stock firmware (TW based) and with speed optimization. Graphical improvement or additional function is not my highest concern, I just want to make the phone faster and easy for my to use (same interface as stock rom).
Thank you for all your help.

Indeed it is. Thread closed
Please review XDA rules on what is and what is not allowed to be posted. Best ROM threads generally stir up arguments and thus are not permitted.
