How come the I-957 and the 73xx are in the same section. Aren't they completely different? You can't flash a rom from one to another. So why not have them seperated in to individual development sections...
I think this would eliminate bricking and confusion and it would clean up the way we look for roms. Also probably other things aswell.
What needs to be done in order to acomplish this?
Thanks for all your attention.
PS. Can someone make a poll with all the different models to pick which ones we have... This would demonstrate how many people have what device and help to make a decision if it would be better to split it up.
For example the EVO 3d. It has a CDMA and a GSM dev section. Because they are pretty different...

I agree with you completely.
I talked to the forum moderator about who to talk to, and I commented in a post where they were asking about requests for a new forum. Don't know what else to do really.
The problem as I see it as this is not a very common tablet that a lot of people have, so there is not a lot of demand for a new forum. But I encourage you to try as well and maybe we can get something done.
Yes, I would like a new forum for this tab as well... Feel like it would keep bricking and confusion to a minimum.
Well I'm mostly on the xda app... And I don't know the different model numbers.
Can one of you make a poll so we can choose which one each person has...

makes sense. I too was confused by the mixing of different hardware generations under one name. Separation of the 7300 and 7310 from the qualcomm devices (7320 + i957) is the only way to make any sense of this mess. Otherwise we'll have to label each thread with the hardware version.
There is almost no common ground aside from the physical dimensions so why not make a new forum.
Another vote for a separate forum for the Qualcomm-based machines, please.

I'd do it but I'm not sure how. I see the option to add a poll to a thread with the number of options but when I preview the post I see nothing as far as the poll goes. The mods and members here seem kinda grumpy to me at times so I was leary of creating the thread. I'm not sure if the poll options pop up before the thread is actually created or what.
No one can make a poll?. Please some one try.

The 7300 and the 7310 are the Tegra 2 versions, while the 7320 and the i957 are the Snapdragon versions.
The snapdragon version are both LTE? Are both tegra only WiFi? And what's the difference between each...
Would roms work for both 7300 and 7310?
And would this also apply to the 7320 and i957... What changes.. partitions?

The 7300 is the Tegra 3g tablet, while the 7310 is wifi. These have interchangeable ROMs, but using a wifi rom on a the 7300 loses 3g.
The 7320 and the i957 are both the same, but the i957 has different partition tables, though it is only a few changes for a ROM. They are both LTE.
Ok. Are both LTE tablets on the same band?

Hi everyone,
Please answer my question.... I spoke with a developer of AOKP rom and he willing make an support for i957 version tab with his kickass AOKP rom.
If you guys seriously want custom rom on your i957 Tab and Lets make it happen!
Here his response.
@nycbjr
well I dunno a ton about this device, I know its quite abit different from the gt7310/7300, has any aosp rom dev been done? to kick out a build I would need at minimum a device tree, and then the proprietary files that are on your device (thats not too hard, if you have root you can pull the files easy..
if I have a second I can do some research.. but if you start me in the right directing with say a git repo, or even the src from samsung (hc3.1 is a fine start) we might be able to get someting going... and then u'd have to be a member of the team to support it

Check out the Development section, count the sub-versions of each ROM found there, and you'll get to several hundreds of them.
Or just consider it one big OS called Android, in its variations. That will also be closer to the truth.
Personally, I run Windows 7 on my Nexus one.
Oh, you were serious?
Bro, every "flavor" of Android is still Android. One Operating system, different versions or "builds" or whatever they're called.

those are the mains ones right now, and of course dont forget to include stock but rooted ROM, like modaco ROM. then there are many variations of cyanogen broken off and customized to make their own ROM.
last year there were many more ROMs, so it has died down a little. but generally its still very strong ROM community for the n1.
no other OS's work except android OS and all its flavors.

They Defy has a mod (specifically a boot menu) that has a feature called '2nd Init' (Read up here) it basically bypasses the first init process and enables you to load up anything you want (better quick explanation?)
This mod that the Defy has has enabled it to have some pretty awesome stuff running on it (CM7, with Gingerbread 2.3.3 obviously). It's strange I have never seen this mentioned on this forum before except for the Defy and I want more people to be aware this has already taken place on the Defy, another locked bootloader phone. Anyways, if this gets ported then we could possibly do whatever Quarx, over on the Defy forum, did and port CM7 to the Atrix. There was some similar talk started when I made a new thread "CM7 for Defy" on the general forum, but I wanted to make sure that a decent amount of developers got to see this information, so I made a new post here.
Would like to see if this would work on the Atrix

Valid question. I don't believe it's 2nd init. Or at least not like the 2nd init on the Defy.
BTW guys, I tried the Defy 2nd init bootmenu (decided to use the apk that installs it all automatically) aaanndd..it bricked my phone. An sbf flash fixed it though.
So anyways, it is now known for sure that this needs to be ported in order to work. Someone PLEASE look into this. I am almost positive that this IS the method that will be used to install custom ROMs on the Atrix in the future. The actual bootloader has no chance of being cracked IMO. But we can get almost the same results with this.

not nearly the same result i was on the sony x10 before i got the atrix and this is exactly how it was when the bootloader was locked we could flash custom roms but all it did was add new simple features. fps caps overclock and many other goodies are kernal related.
BUT i guess having this would be better than nothing at all just dont get overexcited then be dissappointed. also i believe its harder to develop like this than with an open bootloader.

I'm fairly certain it'll work, actually, although it might require some tweaking. But, at the same time, I'm fairly certain it'll break webtop. To me, webtop >>> CM. I'm sure others feel differently. But you'll need one of those other people to work on this, because otherwise, 2nd Init ends up pretty low on my priority list.

flashing roms built for different models will brick you, and have to flash the sbf back. All cooks should probably make sure its listed on their op's which models they're built for. Although I think 99% of our current roms are built around the vzn d3 model (XT862)

It's actually 100% of the roms being based around the verizon d3 (xt862) for the moment, broader userbase = more devs. Another important difference is software update availability, afaik Bell still has no plans to update their d3 which verizon did last month I think.

Not a big advantage for GSM users, given that most of the D3 and D2g developers are CDMA users and don't care a lot about the world outside the US, and even if they care they aren't able to do any test because the GSM is blocked in the US.
So, for the GSM users, D3 and D2g are making sense only if the price is way lower than the one required for the GSM cousins (which is my case for the record)

Just like a 'best ROM' thread, this is thread useless. You can easily see what ROMs are the most popular by looking at their threads in the Dev section and seeing the level of activity. Knowing that still doesn't tell you what ROM is best for you. Only you can decide that based on your own needs and usage.
Sorry folks.,
One of the big no-no's is asking which rom is best.
This, can only be answered by installing several roms, and deciding which is best for "You".
One can read the threads, and see which rom has the least issues, and also see what features are best for your needs.
WE can't make that choice for you. If we could, then there would only be "1" rom for all users, based on the highest amount of posts.
In the end, YOU have to decide.
Thread closed, in an effort to prevent flaming.

Just so you know.....Before the 4.3 update for internation ROMs was available Insert Coin and maybe a few other ROMs in the internation One forum were compatible with m7spr because they had the boot.img and other files included in Aroma and you just chose which device you were on. Several of the Devs over there like insert Coin, Venom, and mike1985 have stated that once the m7 line is unified (like it is now) they will include the ability once again to choose your device type in Aroma and flash one ROM for all m7 devices.
So maybe you should try to find the answer before getting on people.

The int roms can be used if some of the files are inserted from the sprint update. So yeah roms can be ported over now..
Since we run the same 4.3 now..it's just a matter of replacing jars and libs
The guy who replied to you is a douche

Well................. What do you mean "again"?????????? We NEVER could use the International GSM ROMS and NEVER will be able to (w/o porting involved)
Some International devs added support for us but left it in the Int. forum, if that is what you are asking about, check with the developer or ask there, we aren't going to research for you, XDA is NOT a place to ask dumb questions and is most definitely NOT FREE TECH SUPPORT.
Please at least try to find the answer to your question before posting in the future.

this is the exact opposite of how we should address people in this community. Your not a mod, not your job to worry about what is posted in a general forum.
I contacted various devs from international Roms and they all pretty much said they are in the process of making compatible soooo...patience
Wolf Ge Sprint One

+1, I had no idea either. All the times I have gone to international forum it was "available for everyone but sprint" and than pages of sprint people soft bricking their phones.
