I've tried to install various custom roms but none of them worked. I've followed the steps on the tutorial and none of them booted!
So my steps were:
Upgraded to 2.3.4 using Odin.
Installed cwm recovery using Odin.
Went into recovery mode:
Tried both ways 1- wipe data/cache and then install Rom and boot. 2- installed the rom and then wipe data/cache.
None of the roms worked! Do I need to be on 2.3.6? Do I need to be rooted?
Please help!
Edit: yes in a galaxy mini!

Ok guys I found the problem! It was the cwm version! Installed the latest and it works like a charm! Now it's just the great task of installing different roms and let my girlfriend chose the "cutest" one!
I've heard that cm7 is the top one! Which roms do you recommend?

And no need to wipe battery stats

Hello mates,
I flashed CM9.0 on my galaxy note and it all went well but in the latest days it was autorebooting himself, kinda out of the blue. Then I flashed the updated rom CM9.1, hoping to this bug disappear, but it still going on.
Anyone knows how to fix that? I was thinking that it might be a kernel problem, but i really don't remember wich kernel I flashed in the first place.
I was thinking to flash Paranoid Android Rom, but I just can't find a stable one, any one knows how to find it?
thanks
Try to go to any stock rom....then see if it is still exist

Did you flash a custom kernel? You can also try clean note.

I've just flashed another kernel and it is stupidly fast.
If I want to clean galaxy note, how can I do that?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
easy clean install first, dont restore data or apps, ever, and fix permissions solve 99% of the cases.
Just stick to procedures.
heres mine:
on safe kernel and safe kernel recovery(safe cwm)
wipe cache, dalvik and factory reset,
then format all(except efs and take out external card) in mounts
put external back in, reboot recovery, phone wont boot anymore but dont worry about that.
then install cm zip, gapps reboot, done! first boot takes time.
all at own risk,
you will lose data,
but the issues will not be caused by restoring of apps/data, or other crap lingering

Hi guys. I got a real weird problem or so.
I was on a kingdroid rom based on 4.0.4.
Everything ok, no problems, until I turn off the cellphone to take the SD card. From that moment my note just dont turn On.
The thing is I was able to go in to recovery (nice), so I flash a safe kernel. All ok.
And then after a full wipe I tried to flash a rom, and here is the weird stuff: After flash any rom, the cellphone go into restart, everything is new but surprise, am still in Kingdroid v7, even when I flash a 4.1.2 based rom.
I tried many many times, and always the same. I can´t flash a new rom.
My kernel is the Philz one.
Hope someone knows what is happening.
Did you wipe data dalvik cache? If you still have issues you can wipe /system before flashing new ROM (recommended)

I can full wipe, and format/data, but when I try Fromat/system, recovery get freeze. :/
You mean Format/system, right?
So weird. Every time, the same, am stuck in Kingdroid. :S
It concerns me that you can't wipe /system
Hopefully someone can chime in here
you can try flashing from diffrent CMW recovery version.. try flashing speedmod 3-15 and reboot recovery and try to fullwipe and install..
i had weird problem when using diffrent CMW like abyss. i had quite similar problem..
try Speedmod 3-15. it is safe and flash speed is faster

mmm.
When I try format/system, recovery freeze and the phone restarts. And the Rom is formatted, so I have to put all my info again (select lenguaje, config wifi, config google account, etc). And still in kingdroid.

That is a great idea try speed mod

I tried Speedmod kernel, full wipe, flash alliance rom and after restarts, Kingdroid again.
The only thing that change was the kernel. So i have Philz again.
I will try with another kernel.
Is like to have a briked note
You may want to try flashing stock gingerbread (pre rooted from dr.ketan) from PC Odin...
I had some weird issues once and it reset me..

Yep. I will do that.
now I lost recovery.
The phone just get to "samsung galaxy note gt-n7000" and stay there.
I can go on donwload mode, so I will try to flash a stock rom.
Thanks guys. I will report tomorrow with news. Hope works.
Do that stock GB (pre rooted) though not ICS...in PC Odin... that way when you wipe you can do it safely in stock setup without having a custom kernel...
Then just flash whatever with Mobile Odin

I tried with four different roms.
So I tried with Odin, with no problems in the process, but when the phone restarts just get to "samsung galaxy note gt-n7000" and stay there.
Now even the batterie freeze
are you sure that the Odin flash was successful?
if yes, the now try to boot into recovery and do a factory reset, reboot again
Ok. good news. I tried a few times with the GB pree rooted of dr.ketan, with no positive results. So I tried with a diferent one, from sammobile. Is a stock from my country. This one works.(a little hope). Well, now the phone is crazy. super unstable. But, is something.

Yep. Odin flash was successul. With green colors and all. But at restarts the phone was freeze and no chance to get recovery mode.
As I say in previus post, now the phone turns on,but is unstable. Is a stock GB rom.
I get a lot of error messages like:
Android.proces.acore has stoped.
com.android.phone has stoped.
So the phone is unusable
ok great.. this is the time when you HAVE to somehow get into the recovery mode and do a factory reset.. coming from a ics rom will give these errors.. just needs a wipe

Ok. I flashed the Pre-rooted again, and now I am in recovery mode. OMG xD
Question. IS safe to do a full wipe in this kernel? or do I flash a safe kernel, like speedmod??
Am gonna search a new religion to believe or something after this.
Edit: Ok, after think about it I did it a full wipe. (I am on gb so no problems)
The phone is OK. fully working!!! omg guys. Thanks so much!
Am gona do a resume of my problem, maybe gonna be of help for someone.
I am on Stock ICS and Jelly bean update will be rolled out soon by samsung.
Now i want to completely wipe out everything on my phone and do a company like fresh update to jellybean OS.
So what is the correct procedure for this ? And, i assume i have to compulsorily use Kies.
Yes because JB might only come on kies and not as OTA.
Flash a safe kernel (Philz) and go to mounts and storage > format /data, cache, preload, emmc ( internal storage) reboot.
So would still be possible to update even though you are not on a stock kernel
yes kies upgrade even on custom kernel

C'mon guys you are not being very helpful. All OP wants to do is do a SAFE factory reset WITHOUT flashing a custom kernel.
2 options - Flash Philz Temp recovery and wipe on that, or flash Philz wipe data/factory reset zip file. Both are SAFE and will not alter stock status of phone. I can provide links if needed...

Ok, forget about wiping then..... i wont do it.
But i can safely upgrade to Jelly bean via Kies right - Without any fear of bricking.... ? (BTW, i believe kies wipe the phone clean before installing new OS, but i can B wrong)
Yes you can upgrade via kies safely. It may most probably wipe your phone as this may need a repartitioning.
don't listen this freaking punk !
if you want to factory restore your phone safely,
then
if you on "ass screw sandbitch" or "sweet gingerbread"
really simple,go on your dialler/phone and type this code:

*2767*3855# Full Factory Reset
(some differ from ics or GB,try to add *# before,ex:*#*#7780#)
and your phone is like a virgin ***** !
(this wipe everything on your phone !)
and for sure no psycholo fake brick on iCs (hahaha!!! i see an UFO over my house at 6hours!!,then 10 000 toxical ships says:hè a guys see an ufo!! it's real !!.
if you want a full list of code that do some magical things, search on this section, you will find it !

You can't clear data and cache to solve framework-res.apk problems. Clearing data & caches will only solve dalvik related errors.
You'll have to either reflash stock ROM, or flash a custom ROM.
