which a2sd app do you use on your mini and why..? - Samsung Galaxy Mini

well as we all know that there are various apps(scripts) available for a rooted phone to move the apps to sd..in particular to the sd-ext..
like dta2sd,s2e,link2sd,amarullz script etc...
so you peeps prefer which one..and why..?
which one is hazzle free and loads the apps faster..
well reason i am posting this thread is coz i am still in search for one..always had one or the other probs...
so which script do you use and how have you configured it so that no prob occurs..

S2E.. simple and convenient.. use only default settings.. check all items that can be checked. leave /data/data unchecked..

But I Would Prefer Not To Move Dalvik Cache Nd App Data...!
Move Only App...!=))

Thanks for the reply guys...but when I use it everything thing is ok for 2 to 3 days but then none of my apps are accessible eventhough they are installed!
None of them are visible in the launcher...
How did you and what kind of partition have you created?
Ext 3 or 4..using PC or cwm?

Well, even if you partitioned it on PC or cwm with ext4, cwm will still format the ext partition to ext3 if we do a wipe data/cache when installing new ROMs.. so ext type would be out of the question. Maybe you use a suspicious app that you are using which resulted to your problem..
I personally have 1GB EXT, 64 MB SWAP, all the rest in FAT32, done via cwm..

link2sd without any trace of doubt! easy, convenient and running smooth!

Guess what again dta2sd got f***ed up device started to reboot on any install of an app..
Again have to flash the rom..lol..
This is the the third time I have flashed in last four days...
Now again I have installed s2e and have ticked the mount as ext4 in settings, till now everything seems to be ok..but don't know till when it is gonna stay like this..
If this happens again then I will stop using the scripts and stay with phone memory only..

The reason why I don't use link2sd is ...
1.can't move cm themes to SD..
2.not able to patch any paid apps using luckypatcher..

There must be a reason for that error. Take a look at the homepage of link2sd.
Here you see that themes can be linked and the work perfect. Also linked Widgets still work.

From Link2sd FAQ section (http://www.link2sd.info)
Link2SD moves apk + dex + lib files of the application to the second partition and creates symbolic links in the original locations on internal storage.
First advantage is that it can free up more space from the internal storage compared to native apps2sd method because it moves the dex file as well.
The second advantage of Link2Sd over native apps2sd is that by creating symlinks you get Android assume these apps are installed into the internal memory, though in fact all the files are located on the SD.
Therefore you can link all applicatios to SD card; widgets, services, live wallpapers etc., all of them will work without any problem from SD card.
The third advantage is that, even when you mount the SD card to your PC your linked apps are all still live and working!
Because Android unmounts the first FAT partition to share files with your computer but the second partition remains mounted. Link2SD allows you to run all of your "SD apps" even when mounted to your computer as a disk drive.
And, disadvantage is that, obviously, it requires root privilige and a second partition on your SD card.
It's not working "out-of-the-box" as native apps2sd, you need to root your device and create a second partition on your SD card yourself.

Only thing i found complaining to your read error
Q. I am getting read-only file system error and can not link any app anymore.
If your 2nd partition becomes read-only, it may be a filesystem error or corruption. On Linux (and Android) any filesystem error can trigger filesystem go read-only (for protecting fs).
Try to reformat your second partition or fsck utiltiy to fix fs errors, following is an example usage of fsck command.

Then the error I received was due to file system and not app...
Another thing I wanted to ask is that when I flash a rom and install any a2sd app after sometime the partition automatically gets converted to ext2 partition from ext3...!
When I type mount|grep sd-ext in terminal it displays ext2 instead of ext3..and that's when I am not able to install or uninstall any app..
Any possible reasons why this may be happening...?

Why my internal memory is low (56 mb) but all my aps is linked to SD on a ext4 partition with Link2Sd ?
Where is the problem?
I cleaned and relinked everything and memory still low
Till yasterday my memory was ~110 mb. Maybe Juice defender ultimate is the problem? Is my last installed app.

I encountered this problem once and switched using "INT2EXT4+" instead, you don't have to manually move stuff with that script and I havent noticed any problem with it.
Use titanium backup to backup all your apps if you're not already using it.

ok
how to use INT2EXT4+ ?
I don't have an app like Link2SD.
Try going to data/local with a root explorer and delete .apk files in there. Link2sd sometimes makes a copy when linking apps and they end up in there, just taking up internal space.

The tutorial is in the link. It makes the phone have more "internal" storage (using the space from the SD card) so all you gotto do is to install apps and they will work as they usually do. You have to partition your SD-card, just search "partition SD card xda" on google and ull find a tutorial for that.

yeah because some ROM already have script sdext u must remove it before using amarulz script..
use rootexplorer go to system>etc>init.d
When you link apps to sd-ext, the data from all those applications still stay on internal memory. Those consumes a lot of space. Better try moving movable applications to sd card.
Even I also faced the same problem on an earlier ROM. Didn't find a solution though.

Alternate Install Instruction Video thanks to zedomax:
Personal experience speaking here:
It's best to install this script after a fresh, clean install of a ROM.
If you're installing it after you've installed all your programs, you'll need to copy your original internal sdcard files and folders over to your external sdcard first, or the programs you had installed that require data will not work.
I always have a backup of my internal files, and used a new external sdcard when installing the script, so it was no big deal.
Consider yourself forewarned!

Thanx for the answer
This happens when you have a cache partitions that's ether to small. Or come from a rom that have symlinked the cache partition. And now have flashed some thing else that don't but still have config files left.
Best and easiest way is normally to do a full wipe and reflash the rom. Use Nvflash or Smartflash and flash the stock firmware and then later the rom you want.
If not you can always symlink the cache partition to a new location your self with a terminal editor on the phone. And make that a script if it the rom support init.d .
Its a rom problem that nt supporting Google play .you can install ur backed up app bt from store u can't ....

My advice to u is dat u first of all format everything...sdcard, system, etc. This problem mostly occurs when the sdcard becomes corrupted..i had a nokia 6120c and one day i was surfing the web and poof!!! My mobile was no more. Taking it to the service center they told me the reason dat i posted 2 lines before...if u wish that neither ur data should.be lost, den dont do the trick. Also i would.recommend dat u check for.errors in the sdcard

SD is damaged no way to make it work, just like my old sdcard tried every method (stock rom , fschk module, billion times of formatting, etc)
Just buy a new one & don't waste your time & energy

You don't lose anything to format it though,if you haven't...except from energy

I've tried formatting before via minitool..

choose ext4
choose any swap size

choose the size also any size
confirm and wait for 5-10 min
and you are done
then power off your phone
and flash any ics kernel you like
Installation Notes:1. Please use ext 4 partion and you can use any swap size.
2. Before Flashing the zip , please see that your ext4 partition should be empty.
3. If you lose your mobile data or network or get many force closes then reboot your device and flash wifi modules of kernel. After 3-4 reboots the script is stable and will work perfectly
So this script will not work on the stock kernel?

if u create ext4 part usin cwm, yes. u ll lose all data on sd. so u need backup. but with gparted or for windows users, minitool partition tool, u can keep them. any case, u should backup.
Also after flash the script, probably u have to wipe data/factory reset.
need i make sd card have >2 or 3gb free?

Whats the best EXT-4 partition on SD-Card, 1GB, 1.5GB or 2GB?
Its accdg to Zohaib thats why those are my choices. Is 4GB also ok?
If you have:
2gb memory card - 256 mb
4gb memory card - 512mb
8gb memory card - 1gb
16gb memory card - 2gb
32gb memory card - 4gb
This is recommended but you can use any size
