searching for screen off app - Motorola Droid 3

i am searching for an app that make 100% the same when i push the hardware power button.
i have tried many apps/widgets, most switch to the look-screen and 15 sec later the screen goes off.
I want the phone goes immediately off (no 1,2 or more seconds later)
exact the same as the hardware power off.
Rom is original .906, rooted
And yes, under Settings/Security the "set up screen lock" is set to "none" !
please help!

Are you looking for a widget that will lock the screen without you pressing the power button, or an app that disables the stock lock screen altogether, so that if the screen's off and you hit Power it goes straight to your home screen? Both exist, I've used both and they work for me on the stock ROM.

Power ON without screenlock: have it
Power OFF without lockscreen: i search for it. All apps i tried shows the lock-screen and 15 sec. later the phone goes off. I want the phone off in 0 seconds with an app.

Not sure that's possible. You're basically looking for an app that will instantly sever the link to the battery. It would need to be a rooted app, and it would be very dangerous.

I think I understand what you are looking for.
Are you looking for a way to turn off your phone without unlocking the phone?
If so, you can install a lockscreen replacement app such as Widget Locker. Then, even if your phone is locked, you may hold the power button and it will bring up the option to turn off your phone.

on my moto pro i have this working with an app (works not on the d3) .. root are
no problem ... i need only an good app
On the moto pro the app called: lock and screen off widget (1.0.1)
but on the d3 this app shows the lock-screen ... not off (the screen goes off but the phone only 15 sec. later)
1 app that makes the same as the power button for switch off the phone! (The same !!!)

After a lot of searching the web for this kind of app I've finally this thread and was pretty disappointed that there is no solution to this problem! All the existing apps basically fall into one of the two following categories.
1. "Lock togglers" - apps/widgets that upon starting them enable/disable the lockscreen.
2. "Screen lockers" - apps/widgets that upon starting them turn screen off and lock it regardless if the lock screen is turned of by an app of the (1) category.
What we need here is a app which can turn screen off while respecting lock screen policy.
The quest continues....

I think what you're looking for may be in the aosp cm9. There's a toggle in the notification bar the turns off the screen. Try that out if you're wanting to try a different rom.

I just saw the app Elixir 2 mentioned on AndroidCentral.com today. It looks like this has a screen-off toggle widget.

Phone can be unrooted. You do need a widget add-on and an add-on that gives admin permissions for the screen off toggle.

[Q] Trackball wake to lock screen

Hi all,
Is there an app out there that allows track ball wake to lock screen?
I tried "No Lock" but after with the "Locking Enabled" I can't wake with the trackball.
I also tried "LockBot", which goes to it's custom slider lock screen; however, if it's password lock screen is enabled, trackball won't wake the phone.
What I am looking for is just purely trackball/volume wake, and sliding or password (if enabled) lock screen remains unchanged.
Is there such an app out there (free coz I can't access paid market)?
And is there a widget that can just off the screen?
Thanks.
p/s- my power button no longer works.
I use Lock Enabler to sleep the screen, and Quick Boot for restarts, boot in recovery, etc
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Get LockMyDroid from the market.
It was a casual app developed by someone here on XDA. No trackball lock, but long press of search. You get used to it, trust me.
Alternatively you can put a shortcut to it on your homescreen.
Thanks for the comments.
Still doesn't work for me because pressing the trackball doesn't take me to the slider screen.
If you have Cyanogenmod then you can go in settings and set it to where you can wake the screen by pressing trackball.
Best lock screen app I've tried is Lock Now. Haven't had any issues with it - really worth the investment (I'm not the developer ).
What ROM are you running? If it's stock or a largely stock based ROM (MCR for example) you can apply this patch: Link. Basically this will enable trackball wake without any programs.

Lockscreen Doesn't Lock...

Hello all,
Was wondering if anyone is having the same issue as I am. My lock screen doesn't seem to actually lock the phone.. i.e. if you press an app without sliding it up, it just opens. The lock icon, however, is still displayed. My lock screen style is set to productivity, and that still all works, and I have no security set up. It's worth noting that it was working with no issues up until a day ago, and nothing has changed :/
For further clarification:
By not working, I mean that before I used to have to slide the tab up, or to launch an app I would have to drag it up, but now that doesn't work.
Here's a video showing what I mean:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bclXBQwqXa0&feature=youtu.be
This just started happening to my AT&T HTC One tonight! I found this post by doing a search to see if anyone else had experienced this same issue on their One.
Also I can no longer drag the icons at the bottom of my lockscreen up to get into that particular app. And pressing anywhere on the lockscreen seems to unlock the phone and take me to the desktop.
I'm using the "music lockscreen" style, fyi.

I just figured out what was causing it on mine... I actually received my Pebble smartwatch in the mail today and had installed the Pebble Android app onto my One. This also required going into the Settings on my One and enabling Accessibility for the Pebble and Pebble Notifier and these 2 accessibility settings were what was causing the lockscreen to behave this way.
Don't see anyway to get around it so far...

Wow aha actually I did install the pebble app just before it started happening.. I wonder if it's a problem on pebble's side or htc... good catch though!
Yeah, not sure of that either. I just wondered and posted about this myself in another XDA thread I found on this very same topic:

I have got this on my HTC one, I have come from an iphone and wanted to have the screen turn on when any emails are received. These show up on the lockscreen so when I'm driving if I get an email the screen turns on.
I can use several apps to do this but they all require to be enabled in Accessibility, if I do that the lockscreen unlocks when its touched anywhere as mentioned earlier without swiping. If I disable the accessibility setting its all back to normal but the app doesnt work....ie. the screen doesn't come on.
Any one figured this out yet?

I found a work around for it. It requires root access, Tasker and Secure Settings.
What I did was create a Context that is activated when the display is on and then using Secure Settings, disable all Accessibility for all events. As an exit task, I re-enable all my accessibility apps.
Now when i turn on my display, I actually have to slide to unlock.

Under the profiles tab
Press the + icon in the botton right corner
Select State
Select Display
Select Display State
Change "Is Off" to "Is On"
Press the back button
You should have a popup of available Tasks (if you have any)
Select New Task +
[Optional] Give it a name
You need to do the following section as many times as you have Acessibility services
***********************************************
Press the + icon in the lower middle screen
Select Plugin
Select Secure Settings
Press the Edit button
Select Accessibility Services
Select a service, and make sure is disabled (by default it will be)
Press the save icon in the lower left
Press back
************************************************************
Repeat the previous section as needed
When you are done creating your task, press the back button
You should be back at your main profile screen.
Long press the green arrow of the task you just created
Select Add Exit Task
Repeat the *********** section but save the accessiblity services as "Is Off" for all your services.
Tasker has a bit of a learning curve, and hopefully this will get you started.

Efox29. That works very well.. Thanks again for the advice.
I've got this set up as well but for me it is extremely hit and miss. Nearly 50% of the time I still get the single touch unlock and the other half of the time tasker works perfectly. The only thing I can think of is that my pin unlock causes a problem but why only half the time.
Anyone else have this problem?
I suppose I should be happy my problem has been cut in half but I wish it was completely consistent.

It's not ideal but works ok, for me it's better than nothing.
M.
Actually having used this tasker solution for a few days now it works about 75% of the time and seems more reliable if the screen has been off for a while vs reactivating the screen very soon after turning off. Still sometimes I get the one touch unlock after the screen being locked for hours. On the whole the accessibility problem still really annoys me but I agree this solution is better than nothing and so far I haven't had any more accidental call answers.
Sent from my HTC One using xda-developers app
has anyone noticed that another issue with this accessibility bug is that the screen will flicker or flash black for a split second after unlocking? again, this only happens after you turn on accessibility for an app.

[Q] Want to disable lock screen (swiping the lock) on startup

So I have 4.3, and ever since, when the phone starts into Android, there is always a lock screen where you have to swipe the lock in the center away to get to the home screen. I want to disable this so that it simply boots into the home screen. I'm fairly certain to do this I'll need to edit my build, I'm just wondering exactly what I need to edit to accomplish this. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
I don't know if this helps, but i accidentaly found this "glitch" that lets my phone without the lockscreen and enter the phone just by pressing the power button
I installed Windows 8 Lock Screen app from Play Store, I checked it to be the default locker, but after that, after I played around with it, I decide not to keep it active and I unchecked the "Default Locker option". After this, apparently, I have no lock screen whatsoever... Just press the power button and the phone is unlocked

HTC have removed the option to have no screen lock at all, you have to have something (which is responsible IMO)

Actually, this issue only came up once I installed the 401 5.5 4.3. My native is developer 1540 4.3, which does not have this. Good to know it's most likely a sense 5.5 addition, as I can request the next toolbox include an option to disable this.
Edit: For those interested, I seem to have found a happy accident that exploits the lockscreen coming up every time the phone goes dark. By installing the Windows 8 Lockscreen app from the play store, setting it as the default lockscreen, utilizing it a few times, then disabling it, when I restarted the phone, the only time the lockscreen came up was during the initial startup. Nothing after that. The power button got me directly to the homescreen. I also have no lock installed with locking disabled. Obviously, all it would take is a simple xposed module or app to isolate this and get it to the masses, but for now, this seems to work for me. I hope it works for you as well.

[Q] Lollipop lockscreen question

In KitKat, pressing the power button or swiping up after a Moto Wave would skip the lock screen and go straight to android.
In Lollipop, pressing the power button brings up the lock screen. Swiping up from the Moto Wave screen flashes the lock screen briefly, then goes to android.
I don't remember how I had disabled the lock screen in KK, but in LP security->screenlock settings, there is no option to disable the lock screen.
Any thoughts?
Going to Settings > Security > Screen lock, and changing your setting to None will disable the lockscreen.

By lockscreen, do you possibly mean the keyboard (the one that shows notifications and you just swipe up on to remove)?
If so, mine does that too by pressing power. I just made a tasker task that turns the keyboard off and have it run at boot or if the screen is on. Keeps my PIN enabled when no Smart Lock conditions are met, but it now takes me straight to my home screen when I press the power button instead of using Moto's active display.
EDIT: wait, that always bypasses the PIN. Hmmmm
Its under settings-security-screen lock (1st setting).
Yes, it's the guest user issue. Funny thing is, I don't remember going into the Users settings (maybe the kids played with the phone).
For others reading, if you create another user or even use the Guest user once, LP disables the "none" option under Lock Screen.
It's silly how to fix it, though. You can't disable the Guest account from the settings page. You have to switch to the Guest user, then disable the Guest account from within the Guest environment. Which . . . doesn't actually disable the Guest account, since it still shows up in the User settings page.
In other words, not only is it unclear and unintuitive how to fix the problem, there's no visual indication in the UI that a change has initially occurred, or afterwards when the condition has been reversed.
Thanx for the replies.

Apps freezing on screen.

Hi, I've had this issue for a while where apps seem to freeze up after locking and then unlocking the phone. So, for an example, let's say I am using the firefox browser app, and then I turn off the screen with the power button. Wait about 15-30 seconds, and then when I turn the screen back on it will be frozen on whatever I was viewing before.
What's weird is that the app appears to still be active, only the screen acts frozen. I know this because I have figured out that if I tap the recents key, and then tap the app I was just using, it refreshes/unfreezes the app to where I can use it again. I have tried scrolling when the screen is frozen, and when I use the recents key to unfreeze it, it will be further down the page. Sometimes, when the app freezes, the content section will be completely black until I do the refresh trick.
More information:
-If I lock and then unlock the phone immediately, it doesn't get frozen. It's only after about 10 seconds that it does this.
-I am not using a lock screen/password. If I have the option set to 'swipe' or any of the other variants, the problem does not seem to happen.
-I think this behavior may have started after the Android 9 update.
-Other functions on the phone work perfectly fine (I can still access the notification menu etc.)
I just viewed a post called 'frozen screen after waking up screen' that is the exact same issue I am having, but there doesn't appear to have been a solution yet so I'm bringing it back up if that's ok. Thanks for any help.
