[MOD - ICS] V2 HTC Vivid Advanced Power Menu - 3/22/12 - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

UPDATED 03/22/2012
*This is a tweak for ICS ONLY!
This has been tested on AT&T ICS Vivid based rom only! Flash to Velocity or Raider based roms at your own risk. You must be using a Deodexed rom, or know how to remove the odex files from OTA standard stock roms.
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY AS I WANT YOU TO UNDERSTAND THE TERMS OF THIS POST & CONTINUED WORK ON COOL ITEMS FOR THE HOLIDAY DEVICE LINE!
The items posted here are not to be cooked into any rom at this time. This is for device end users. I am not trying to start any issues, but I have been working with other developers & with Chef's on this project & there will be a release that is available soon for cooks to use in other public roms. As you know, I have been working on a few projects, the biggest of which is getting more developers involved with the Holiday line of devices as well as to bring back developers that have left the XDA community because of issues & frustrations. My better judgement was to NOT post this or any preview of it until it was complete, but I want this forum to thrive & so I have to go out on a limb & have faith that the forum members & developers can be honest & follow simple rules in regards to permission. Respect is going to be key in making the Vivid forum a success & you can't have respect without trust. So I am entrusting you with this first of many tweaks either done or very close to done that will be available if everyone is honest & respectful. I believe in this community, please do not let me down.
This project is not mine alone. I have had a hand in making it happen for the Vivid but the hardest parts were from j4n87 & his great attitude towards helping build the Vivid section. He does not own a Vivid, but he took the time to really help & has taught me quite a lot. This is the smallest part of some very cool things to come.
Again, this is a taste of several development items we have coming to the HTC Vivid very soon.
So now, I present you the much anticipated Advanced Power Menu V2 for the HTC Vivid. I have been working on getting this going on the Vivid for some time & once again, thanks to the great developer J4n87 (a true Smali-Monster), I was able to bypass my standard version for this nice V2 that you will find in many of the Sensation & Rezound Roms & threads. This is just one part of a suite of tweaks known by many names including "LeeDroid Tweaks" as well as many other names & it will take HTC Vivid customization to a new level when complete.
The file is a CWM flashable zip file. Just place it on your SD Card, Boot into Bootloader, Boot into your recovery & select flash zip menu (depends on your recovery version). Then select the Vivid_APM_V2.zip & flash just like you would a a rom or any other CWM flashable zip.
Remember, if you like this mod, please click thanks & look up member j4n87 & thank him even more.
Zip is too big for XDA, so it can be found here:

Once done this app will allow you to change ON THE FLY: APM, EQS (my Version, prob. gonna add Jan's as final which includes ability to remove or re-position eqs toggle items, go straight to EQS if you have no notifications), Hide Wifi Config (saves space when wifi is not active), Hide notification Icons, Show/Disable recent apps in QS drop down, Enable/Disable EQS Transparency, Notification Bar Caption (add custom text to notificaton bar), Hide specific notification icons, Enable/Disable unlock animations, Standard/Super/Ultra Smooth Rosie, Clock L/R/C, the power saving Capacitive Backlight settings (dim button backlight between 3x levels: Standard/Dim/Off), operator name displayed (Customize or remove), Use/remove paginated app drawer function, change between 4 or 5 column app drawer, Use of AOSP lockscreen, Unlock options (use of Menu button), Up/Down Volume wake (wake device with volume rocker), Access the HTC Diagnotic App & hidden Diag screens, Change or remove the Overscroll Glow Color, MMS Wake up (lights screen when MMS message is received) & APM tweaks including ability to add or remove Screenshot, Airplane Mode, Mobile Data & the Sound Toggle buttons from the APM menu.
Today you are getting a glimpse into this great development with the APM mod.

I believe he has mentioned that APM is something that he is also looking at, something grander actually. I'm sure he can't wait to finish other mods as well, it will be ready when it's ready

ZOMG!!!
This is awesome! flashed on rum float beta 3. works like a freakin charm!!! thanks so much you amazing devs!

Hmmm, i must have done something wrong, i had the rooted stock rom and when i loaded this i got stuck in a boot loop. i got htc screen>att animation>att screen then after sitting there a while it loops back to htc screen and does it all over again.
i guess I'll go back to stock and start over, wonder what i did?

What do you see when you hold down the power button?

original rom that came with the phone, only rooted.

Im guessing its because of the original not being deodex'd.....if your on the stock rom

Am I correct in assuming this will work on the OTA ICS as long as its rooted and CWM was installed?

One way to find out. If you have CWM, do a backup and flash it. Revert to the backup if it doesn't work. It's not rocket surgery.

[APP][UPDATE 10/10/2010]CarMode V3

Thread moved to - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=806018
Please unfollow this thread and visit the link above instead for latest updates.
Introducing CarMode, an alternative to Car Home. Basically what it does is it shows you huge buttons to important apps that you might use when driving a vehicle with less distraction than manually waking your phone, opening the app drawer, etc. Unlike Car Home, this app will give you more flexibility and more settings to poke around with (even better in future updates).
Looks best with MDPI devices (320x480 resolution, e.g. Droid Eris).
As of now, this app is currently in Alpha phase. What you see right now does not reflect how it will look like and work in the future. I'm working hard to make changes and add more features. Currently NOT in the Market but available on GetJar.com

}
Here are some apps/redirections that you can use with CarMode:
* Dialer
* Messages
* Call logs
* Shazam
* Navigation
* Voice Search
* Contacts
* Music
* Maps
* Display
* Settings
* Notes - opens a built-in note-taker with save and load features.
To-Do-List:
Where-did-I-park? feature
Be able to set apps to open by default, 3rd party apps (Dialer One, Handcent, etc)
Add more tools, options
Fix layout for HDPI devices
Auto-fill when hiding apps
Fix landscape layout
Choose own apps to launch
Changelog:
v3 October 10:
Changed theme
Removed button sets (temporary)
Added more buttons
Reworked layout
Added a persistent option to hide/show buttons
v2 October 5:
Changed app icon.
Added two button sets
Added several settings options
7 total buttons
v1 October 1:
First release
What else should I add? The less the better 'cause I don't want people to be distracted too much when driving! Please do suggest! If you're familiar with App Inventor and is good at it, may I ask some advice from you? Send me a PM. Thank you!

Whoa it worked?! Nice Thank you for testing it!
And yeah, I just need to fix the graphics and such @[email protected]
For the Display, I directed it to the Display settings so you can put the screen on for whatever time limit you want before it goes off, useful if you're driving so you don't have to press the End call button to wake the phone xD
Nice job. I don't use Shazam so I can't test that. Everthing worked fine except the dialer button. It FC every time I tried it. Maybe because mine is themed or because the rom I'm on has a different dialer than the one you created the app with.
Great work. Looking forward to seeing a custom icon.

Oh, the Dialer actually uses the "Dialer One" app. You can get it from the Market. I'm actually working on it. Fixing and stuff. I'll let you guys know for changes. I'll be posting a new version by the end of the day.
Thanks for trying it out!
V2
V2 works well for me again. One thing that I notice is that when I hide one of the icons they come back when I open the program back up. It would be nice if the settings would stick. Nice progress though
I like the themes and the option to hide unwanted apps but a few things that I noticed:
Can you only display the disclaimer at initial open?
I get FC when navigating back from any given app.
Large file size.
Keep at it, it's coming along nicely.

Thank you for the feedback guys. I greatly appreciate it!

Yup, I noticed that too and I'm working on making settings persistent so that on the next app launch, it stays.

Good one, I'll try to find a way to hide the disclaimer and not be very intrusive.
The size is my problem too. Probably because of the themes. I'm thinking of making another package for themes but I don't know how to do that yet. I'll find ways to decrease the file size.
Again, thanks you two Your feedbacks will help me improve this app by A LOT!
The file size really isn't that big a deal (apps2sd) but if you find a way to trim it, it would be nice.
Sent from my nonsensikal froyo using XDA App
Yeah, A2SD FTW
I'm somehow looking for a way to modify apps from App Inventor so I can publish them to the Market so updating would be easier.
New update tonight 10/09/2010
v3 is up! Please test it out? Thank you so much!
screens look awesome. gonna try to dl and try tonight.
Well........That was a major improvement! I love the new interface. It is very quick and smooth. Keep up the good work. Its coming along wonderfully. Again major improvement over v.2!
Awesome app! Much more stable than the last version. I tried everything and couldn't get it to FC at all. I like the different tabs and the hidden disclaimer...and that it no longer has the stock icon. A few constructive suggestions for V4:
When apps are deselected in the settings, have the main screen autofill (it currently leaves a blank box).
Fix orientation for landscape so you don't have to scroll down to see the rest of the apps.
There was a blank app box (not sure if that's supposed to be there).
Is it possible to let the users select their own apps/settings for it to call on? This would eliminate the need to add a bunch of apps and have the user deselect unwanted ones.
This app has come a long way. Can't wait to try out the next version.

Oh and maybe add a car finder app/feature for when people reach their destinantion and forget where they parked?

-Autofill
-Landscape mode
-Fill in blank box xD That was just a filler cause I didn't know what to add there.
-Ability to select own apps
-Where-did-I-park? feature
Thank you for the suggestions, I'll try to find ways to add those. They're good ones too. My only problem is that the landscape and the choice to add own stuff would probably take a while. I have to find a way around App Inventor. It has a lot of limitations that's why I can't implement some other stuff.
But again, we'll see. I appreciate the output!
Hi,
Does this work with HTC desire? I tried to install it, but it closes down everytime I start phone oglor an app that has to do with contacts. Navigation is working fine
I tried to disable the empty button on page 2 and now I get an error when trying to open settings?

Yes, I made an error and based the actions/intent on Froyo ROM. I forgot that this differs with every ROM/version/phone.
If you could help me, if ever you have LauncherPro as home replacement app, could you go to your desktop, hold down screen and choose Shortcuts > Activities and look for the app that force closes and give me (if you don't mind), all the things that has starts with a com.* etc, etc under the Dialer for example. That way, I can fix it

Compliments of en.miui.com
For Beginners
Already flashed MIUI ROM? OK, pick up your phone now, let’s start our happy journey of MIUI ROM.
The first step: selecting apps
Various apps will greatly enrich your cell phone, so firstly let’s select the apps to your taste.
Click Net Disk on the desktop, and you’ll see MIUI has prepared a variety of amazing apps for you, including notes, audios, videos and IM and so on. You are free to choose and install what you like! (Please make sure your phone is connected to wifi.)
Tip: If you want more apps, you may click the tab “All for one” in “Net Disk”, the place where MIUI users upload their own apps.
> You may also download more apps in electronic markets. You need to install the corresponding market (some can be downloaded in “Net Disk”), and then go get more apps.
> I’d like to install apps downloaded from the computer, what should I do? First copy the downloaded file (.apk) into your SD card. Then pick up your phone, click “File Manager” on the desktop, find the file you copied and click to install it.
Tip: How to copy files from the computer to the phone? First connect your phone to your computer via data cable, pull down the notification panel from the top of the phone, click “USB connected”, and then click "Turn on USB storage”.
After copying, do not forget to select the option of “Turn off USB storage”, otherwise "File Manager” in the phone will not be able to find the sd card, as it is being occupied by the computer.
Now I have a lot of apps, how to put them in order?
All apps successfully installed are listed on the desktop, however, they may not be in the order you want, how to put them in order?
> Long press an app icon and then you may move it freely. When it is moved to the screen border, the screen will automatically switch to the next screen.
> How to add a screen? Use two fingers to pinch on the desktop to enter screen thumbnail mode. Then you may add or delete screens.
> How to delete an app? Long press the app icon you want to delete, drag it on top of the trash box and click OK to delete it.
The second step: let's make your phone different.
A phone without style is nothing remarkable, so let’s make your phone different!
> Changing wallpaper: Click Menu button on the desktop, select “Change Wallpaper” to replace the wallpaper. In addition to the existing wallpaper in the phone, thousands of pieces of wallpaper are also available online.
> Changing theme: Themes make great changes to your interface style. Click “Theme Manager” on the desktop to select the theme you like. Also, more online themes are available online.
> Selecting ringtones and more: click “Settings” on the desktop to set call and notification ringtones. In “Personalization” under “Personal” tab, you may find more options.
The third step: it’s time for some advanced techniques!
Well, you are no longer a beginner now, so let’s learn some advanced techniques.
> Adding widgets on the desktop: press the Menu button on the desktop, select "Edit Mode", and then click the icon on the upper right corner to access the interface of “Add Widgets”. Choose your favorite widget on the top, and then drag it to the screen below.
> Using folders to manage desktop apps: in the interface of “Add Widgets”, drag [Folder] to the desktop. You may drag multiple apps into folders to classify them. After opening the folder, you may click the edit icon in the upper left corner to rename the folder.
> Using toggles panel to improve efficiency: drag the notification panel down from the top, click "Toggles" to go to the toggles panel (It goes to the toggles panel in default of notice.) On the panel are listed the most commonly used toggles, you may click to quickly enable or disable a toggle. Long press on the icon will launch the settings for that icon.
> Guest mode: enable the “Guest Mode” toggle in the panel, and your calls and text messages logs will be hidden, and all installed applications cannot be removed. You may have a try when you need to show your phone to guests or children.
> Importing contacts or binding accounts: you may use some apps to import a batch of contacts, or bind Google account directly in "Settings"> "Personal"> "Accounts & Sync Settings" to sync contacts at any time.
> How to print screens? Press "Menu" key and "Volume Down" key at the same time to print a screen. The printed image is saved in the directory of MIUI in the sd card.
> How to copy files from the computer without using the data cable? In case of a wifi connection, enter “File Manager” on the desktop, select the tab of "Remote Administration" to start the service, and then you will get an address. Enter the given address on the computer, then you may copy files without using a data cable!

oh hai dar leeech, good to see you makin ur own thread finally lol
The introductory manual is nice, but I think the reference to "Net Disk" is inapplicable to anything but Chinese versions of MIUI, no?
I guess we can let jasonk's thread dies now and start here.

Ya especially for an awesome rom like this!
God, I'm two weeks behind on MIUI builds. Don't know if I'll wait till 12.9 or just go ahead and flash .2 tonight.
I don't know about anybody else, but I used to flash MIUI and have everything running great for a while. Then out of nowhere, everything started FC on me. What I believe was happening was my data/data was filling up and it couldn't function anymore.
Jermaine and tiny came up with the ext4 mod that can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1315372
I highly recommend you check it out if you have had FC issues.
12.9 is now released so get your fresh update!!! you can get in it rommanager, via updater app in miui.us build or at our site..

One of the words, iirc it's "Page" is clickable
Very new to miui and I'm really liking it so far. It's a great mix of Sense eye candy and cm7 customization.
BUT I'm running into one issue that could end up being a deal breaker.
Is there any way to disable headset controls? Headset blocker doesn't seem to function on this rom and when using third party music apps it still kicks off the stock music app when jacked in. I've read a few posts about the track skipping issue this causes, but haven't seem a solution yet.
Please tell me there's an answer to this. I'd like to stick with miui as my daily.

yes you can select whatever music app you use as default and the lockscreen controls will control that app. it can be found under settings

Yeah, I'm familiar with that setting. The problem is that the headset control glitch still controls the stock music app regardless of the lock screen settings.

Shameless bump for a great rom!
Just started using this a few days ago. I have known about MIUI for a while now but was too attached to Sense to make any test runs with it. I truly wish I had tried it sooner. Nothing comes close to this in any way possible. This is the best ROM out there period. I cannot believe something of this quality is free. Absolutely amazing.

This has been my main problem with MIUI. It's my favorite ROM when everything works, but when it rains it pours.
Going to try this mod out and see how that goes
To leech and other dev on incredible thank you for the cool rom. I liked it so much I ended up getting a iphone. For me miui was like a test trial for apples os.

[mod]nice! notification and quicksettings page mod for nik's sense4.0a

I have modded the SystemUI.apk at june 12th(so long) and posted it in bbs.joyrom.com(a Chinese BBS).
attention:this is just for nik's post about the sense4.0a
so many changes on the systemui.apk, i want to introduce some details;
1,mod the statusbar like the miui's;
2,remove all the original quicksetting even the code, so you fallout tweak can't control the quicksettings page , and it will not fc any more;
3,add 12 quicksettings as a gridview; look at the picture and a brightness change-seekbar;
4,add the two tab buttons for exchange the two pages - "notification" and "quicksettings" ;
5,carrierlabel was not clickable ,but for the htc music control ,when palying songs ,slider on it can paly next or previous song
6,add a music button on next to settings button, short-click twice or long-key once can play your htc player music;
7,if existing notication of ongoing events ,pull down will be the notification page, or pull down will be quicksettings page;(a judge function)
more detail:this mod will fix you key-backlight , and your key-backlight will adjust the screen brightness; thank "cycber" for translating my Chinese guice post into English and posting it here , recently i have mod it better.
how to use:
no need to wipe ,just flash it in recovery
my English is not so good.hope you understand.
nice looking~

Looks nice, thanks man.
sent from my ics device
looks nice and works so far but...
...since I flashed this my Titanium Backup just giving me forced closed.
I did not had this before, so could this be caused by the modification?
I want to say that your titanium backup sortware is not concerned with my mod at all.
maybe you should try to clear your titanium backup software data
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using xda premium
I also faced that issue.
However reinstalling the titanium backup might help u to solve that problem everything work fine for me now.
Sent from my HTC Incredible S
Tested and works fine. I will be keeping this now
Just one issue though, after I use the Rings Volume to change the volume, I cannot switch back to changing brightness.
Make it in a way where we change the setting and close the notification, open again and brightness changer should be visible.
thank you for answering!
I uninstalled Titanium and try to install again but get error message that there is not enough free memory
Well I will reboot and try again - if not working I will switch back my Nandroid, although I like that mod a lot.
---------- Post added at 03:07 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:01 PM ----------
not working even after reboot - going back.
thanks anyhow!
sorry to hear that !
i use the nik's sense4.0a v2 and i have made this mod for almost half of a month , it works well without any question. for your question , i really don't know why.
hope you can solve your questtion
I am on V3 - may be that is the problem.
Never mind!:good:
thank you for your advice,after my exam , i will make it!

Stock ICS Lockscreen customization

I am running the Blitz ROM, and none of my shortcuts on the stock ICS lockscreen show up. I have flashed many roms and none of them show up on the lockscreen, is there something i am doing wrong?
I am S-ON and rooted lol
--TeckTeck
(If i am in the wrong place with this thread feel free to move it accordingly, just PM me the details on that)
Do they show up when ur not locked ?
The shortcuts I want to use show up on my home screen yes, but when I hit the power button and cycle the screen back to being locked there is nothing. I am not sure if it has something to do with the tweaks of the rom.
I tried enabling and disabling through leedroid tweaks and got nothing
--TeckTeck
I wonder if something in the Rom didn't flash right I've never seen that but there's a lot I've not seen , maybe try and reflash the Rom. Not sure man maybe someone can help .

Trickdroid (Bugs, Request and etc)

Well, I'm just starting this thread cause I cant post in the One Android Dev forum. How do I even get access to post replies in threads there? How do I report bugs and have requests or questions answered? Kernel options was removed as they dont work on the new base, there is an option to have the back button to double as the menu. But why was the dock transparency option removed as well? Is there a problem with it too? Will there be a fix for it?
You need 10 post in Q&A or general section.
After 10 post you can post everywhere.
However, there is a FAQpost in trickdroid thread.
For kernel, custom kernel will work on new base.
The option for back button there is if you, during aroma installation, have choose remove 3-dot menù.
You can do trasparent the dock with a modded zip.

Yea....the back button is not much of a problem for me. But can you point the direction for the transparent dock. I'm tryina make my own custom lockring. I succeeded on my one X, so i'm gonna try on the one too. 10 posts?! Alright then...
Find it hard picking up calls as I have to key in my pin before i'm able to answer. Is there a way to get pass that? I'm using the aosp lockscreen. Does that affect how I answer calls?

That's what happens when you go aosp lockscreen on a sense Rom. I know some custom roms on my old phones had a fix for it. I'd just go back to sense lockscreen if I were you. In my opinion it looks awesome compared to aosp.

Would it make a diff if I checked the box to disable exchange security? I had configured my work email exchange and it prompted the pin is needed. Its a hassle not being able to see who's calling and having to swipe and enter the pin first. I liked the AOSP cause I like to make my own custom lockring.
