Hello
I wanna ask you guys if you know any SIM Unlock tool for my Droid 3 XT862 from Verizon. Firstly, I'm not in US, so for me contact VZ is impossible. I did purchase for the unlock codes from some websites, but non of them work. So my very last choice is praying for any tool that could unlock my phone.
If you know any one, or how to do that, please help me, my hero
Thanks in advance

i used it for my droid 3 and used the guide to get it working with tmobile in the usa but after unlock you will be able to use it anywhere. the guide is only necessary if you want to use it in the usa
the main point is my cell phone isn't unlocked GSM yet. I bought some code on internet, they are all the same code, and it doesn't work with mine
same problem here.
Did you input the code correctly?

Isn't Verizon known to replace the standard Motorola SIM unlock codes with their very own (which forces the user to contact Verizon to get the code, where they would request that the user have an account in good standing for x amount of months before they will give it up?)
This happened to me when I bought a Verizon Droid 2 Global during a visit to the US. No more Verizon phones for me... ever!
I purchased two codes from ebay both works

My understanding is that once user disconnects their phone from Verizon, sometimes Verizon will replace the unlock code with their own code making the code generators to not work unfortunately.
One can put their D3 on Verizon and receive the unlock code (as I understand - so, if you have a friend on Verizon who won't need an unlock code to ask to put your phone on his/her account briefly and request unlock code?). I made sure that the person selling me the phone got the unlock code and unlock the phone BEFORE selling it to me.

I noticed one company offers a more expensive unlock code service beside the standard rate serivce. Not sure if its actually increases you chances or anything, here's the link:http://www.swiftunlock.net/UnlockServices/Motorola.html

Hello I'm in canada and bought a Droid 3 (verizon) from ebay
I will unlock it with a code that is available from well known sources (swiftunlock, etc..)
the description says 'Ready to Activate' so this worried me abit, doe sit have to be activated thru verizon before the phone will even work or do anything
or can i punch in the unlock code (based on its IMEI) and start using it regardless of whether it is 'activated' or not
what im worried about is, if it hasnt been activated, will its unlock code (based on IMIE) even show up to these unlockers, or is the code generated right away when a phone is manufactured and stamped with an IMEI regardless of activation
THanks!
You don't need to have it activated on Verizon to unlock the GSM part.
You can easily bypass the activation by tapping in the four corners of the screen on the activation prompt.
As soon as it sees the foreign SIM it will prompt you for unlock code. Given you got an unlock code for it, you should be able to unlock it.
There are some horror stories with the older Droid 2 Global - some of them were custom locked by Verizon and standard unlock codes unlockers provide do not work.
I haven't heard yet of somebody successfully unlock a D3 using online unlock service (only Verizon Global support is known to provide unlock codes that work so far). But it has been couple of weeks since D3 is available, maybe unlockers are getting those codes already. Please keep us posted!
Personally I am going to wait for the Canadian XT860 that is coming shortly to Bell. Since I have some not so pleasant experience with the buggy Droid 2 Global radio/baseband and given the fact Droid 3 uses the same chipset (Qualcomm MSM6600), chances are GSM/UTMS radio of D3 suffers from the same issues D2G does.
From another side - D3 is cheaper than XT860. I am sure Bell will charge at least $550 for it, if not even $600 (and tax), D3 comes much cheaper at $475 US (even US-CDN$ rate is favourable) at non-contract price.
Keep us posted on how it goes with your D3!
There was a report of succesful unlock here in the forum, and now I confirm this too.
The code from swiftunlocks worked. I contacted the guy in advance, he told me about 90% D3 can be unlocked. And at least for me, it worked. I can really recommend his servive.

I wrote him an email to [email protected] (had it from ebay, wanted to ask him if he _really_ can unlock D3), he responded very quickly and offered me the code for $20. Had the code a few hours later. Really can recommend.
And no, I don't think it will work with U.S. GSM providers.
So,
I think, that SIM unlock procedure is the same as for Droid 2 Global.
Phone must be activated on Verizon.
Phone must be activated for global using.
Then can phone accept unlock code.
Without activating phone cannot accept unlock code for other network carriers.
Unlock code can be from verizon, or can be purchased on ebay (approx $20).
Is this right ???
It doesn't have to be activated. The other points are correct.
aha.......

hmmm...so not same as on Droid 2 Global ?
I bought in January two Droid 2 global.
One was new and one was one month used.
The new was not able to accept unlock code - always Code Error.
The used was unlocked with no problems, because was activated on Verizon.
I'm not sure about D2G. Had one, but from a seller on ebay.com who provided Verizon unlock codes -- so of course it was activated.
My D3 however I bought from Motorola Store and had it shipped directly to Germany, unlocked it here with third party codes. It definitely never was activated.
I just unlocked my D3, you don't need Verizon to activate it. All you need to do is to bypass the activation screen using the "four corner" trick, and then enter the subsidy code aka the unlock code.
this is super...thanks

Just for sure, because you live in Canada and use Bell, you're talking about the Verizon Droid 3 XT862 (USA) and not the Bell XT860 (Canada) ?
Yes, I am talking about the actual Droid 3 aka XT862. The procedure would be the same for all phones regardless.

Verizon's Droid 3 is XT862.
XT860 4G Bell release here in Canada is not Droid 3. It is XT860 4G.
Yes I meant to say the XT862, made a typo.

Anyway you could PM me this "4 corner trick". And "subsidy code/ unlock code". In the meantime I will return to searching the forums for this fix.
Thanks

Could you please explain how to activate the "four corner" trick ? My D3 after enter the unlock code which bought from unlock4moto.com displayed a sentence " Your fone is subsidy lock. Pls contact network operator...". I wonder do I have any chance to unlock my Droid 3 in this case. I bought this D3 from ebay so I surely could not contact VRZ for there help. If you can help me with my case that mean you save my life
i BEEN TRYING TO UNLOCK MY DROID 3 BY CODE AND IT HAS BEEN IMPOSSIBLE. I AM OUTSIDE THE USE AND EVEN WHEN I INPUT THE CODE THAT VERIZON GAVE ME I HAVE NO SUCCESS. THEY TOLD ME THAT THE PHONE HAS TO BE ACTIVATED ON VERIZON FOR IT TO UNLOCK. IS IT TRUE. IS THERE ANOTHER WAY TO UNLOCK IT.
I HAVE RDS LITE I FLASH MY PHONE TO THE ORIGINAL VERIZON AGAIN BUT IT DID NOT WORK. HELP PLEASE
1) Drop the caps. It's against the rules and is downright annoying.
2) Maybe can you call Verizon and see if they can manually program it, even if it is a dead number? Or have you even tried calling tech support?

Maybe U have wrong code. I have Droid 3 from Verizon. I live in Poland and I don't have a problem to unlock and using in 3G with my polish simcard. And I didn't have to activate phone in verizon...
Verizon tends to alter unlock codes on their global phones lately - not all but some I guess as some people unlock fine, others have issues. Same was with Droid 2 Global last year. All phones from 'first wave' weren't issue to unlock, but afterwards it got hit or miss..
There is no 'hardware unlock' available so far AFAIK. And might not show unless boot loader gets unlocked (since then we can thinker with baseband).

WHAT YOU MEAN, WHY U NO TELL ME WHAT I WANT RIGHT NOW PLEAZE!
What he is saying is the unlock code will only work while connected to an account in the US.
Droid 1 Rooted (ChevyNo1 0.9MV Kernel, LGB2.6)
Droid 3 Rooted (Stock Kernel, Custom lite De-bloat)
I was able to unlock my D3 without activating it with Verizon, and I was geographically in Canada when I entered the code.

I think it is a question of "how new" the phone was. From what I learned by reading all those threads on many forums (and I think it is correct, since mine was unlocked easily as well):
- if you buy a phone that was never ever connected to verizon, the unlock works and you don't need to activate it with VZW (the activation request just disappears and you can use it like any non VZW model, except for the USSD restrictions and so on).
- if you get a phone that somebody already activated for you, you will most likely be busted. VZW does change the unlock keys OTA.
The best idea seems to be: make sure to get your phone from somebody who assures you that it's never been activated or connected to VZW via 2G/3G.
Mine was never activated and i am in Colombia even called Verizon and a rep gave me an unlock code but it did not work. it has been almost one month.
I unlocked fine and I flashed mine to cricket....

Hi I live in mexico, and I wonder if this method helps me to use it on my cell company, which is telcel.
I have a Verizon Droid 3, and tried CellunlockerPro for sim unlock code, but did not work. They said the unlock code may have been change by Verizon via OTA update, and can only be unlocked by Verizon. Unfortunately, I'm not a Verizon customer... Can anyone kindly help to use your Verizon account to get the unlock code for my phone? will pay $10 for your trouble. Thanks.

Try unlock4moto.com and see what they provide. If that doesn't work, then that's your only option. That site specializes in unlocking Motorola phones.
Really works

unlock4moto.com really works and they could provide me the code for a cheap price, 6 bucks
also if you got the screen on Verizon Droid asking for "activate your phone" (which would make you call verizon) there is a way to skip that
just tap the 4 corners clockwise mode of that screen starting with top left and than tap android bot in the center
this will skip the activation and actually take you to the phone main screen
tried swiftunlocks.reseller
Tried swiftunlocks reseller
I just unlocked one for $5.00 and it works and less than one hour.

Im just wondering, did the OP solve the issue? if so, which method worked for him ?
I want to unlock my atrix hd (at&t) to a different carrier,is yours unlocked? if so how did you do it? unlock code? some other method without using unlock code? how much did you buy the unlock code for? o;
You have to buy a code as there is no way to unlock the AHD for free. In order to enter the code, you need to be on a pure stock or close-to-pure stock rom in order to enter the unlock code.
If you're an AT&T customer, they may give you the code for free.

Ok thank you, i will probably buy an unlock code, and use stock rom, does it stay unlocked forever?
Just google your carrier and request unlock. I know At&t has an online request form to unlock the carrier . As long as you meet the requirements there is no charge for this service. Thirty minutes after submitting the request At&t sent me the unlock code. T-mobile I'd imagine would do the same.
As for your other question, I am curious too. I just reverted my phone back to stock At&t. Got to find someone with a non At&t SIM to see if my phone is still carrier unlocked. I say it is.
The phone will be unlocked forever. I have never seen or read a post where a phone became carrier locked after being unlocked by entering a code.
If you purchased a used phone, put in a non-ATT sim after reverting to a stock rom to make sure you receive a prompt to enter your network unlock code. If you are on stock and don't the prompt, the phone maybe be hard locked to ATT and there is very little an end user can do to unlock the phone.
bought it on ebay... better pay with then than some random website with your CC info.
I haven't used this service but I've seen it referenced several times here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...3&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1123#ht_668wt_1121
What's interesting is that the MB886 isn't listed as one of the phones, yet people say it has worked.
I will try that, feel much safer then random website that I don't know if they are safe.
