first time posting on XDA. i have a xt862 rooted running CWM recovery, CWM bootstrapper, and flashed CM9/ICS beta1. i saw the thread about the OTA 5.7.905, downloaded the link, and tried to install as update through stock recovery. i even changed the .zip to update.zip and tried to run it as an update. everytime it says signature verification failed. any help?
did you try to update when 100% stock? you must be completely returned to stock rom, when updating the zip.
Do I need to unroot/sbf or can I just return to stock root?

I need ROM to flash with Odin. Clockwork thing is not working for me and all the modded rom's are clockwork oriented. I am actually dying to install cynogen. Off late they stopped releasing odin versions. Somebody please suggest some rom better than the stock Froyo which is flashable using odin.
My phone is rooted and unlocked.

What is your baseband, build.
Are you in leaked froyo ji6

Exactly i am in leaked froyo ji6. I rooted it.
You have two options. Swap in a kernel that has 2e recovery or flash back to stock and then flash the rom of your choice.

The version you are on had a recovery that prevents you from using clockwork

Let me try to explain my situation...
I was on 5.5.893 with root and Bootstrap recovery installed. Rom manager was also installed later and used that to flasha newer CW recovery. Everything was working. I could make backups of my rom when needed (stock ROM).
Then the .902 OTA came out and I could not flash it. At some point I had modified the framework_res.apk so no OTA would flash.
So.. I used RSDLite to flash everything back to stock 5.5.893. Then rooted. Then installed bootstrap (the free one.. not from the market, but from koush's site). The pressed reboot recovery. I was stuck at the Motorola logo... bootlooping! yay..
So.. since I didnt want to mess with troubleshooting it too much, I used RSDLite again to install 5.5.893. Then rooted/forever root again. Then flashed the official OTA that I saved off my phone through stock recovery.
I'm now on the official .902 with root.Back on the upgrade path!
My question is... what do I need to do to get CW recovery back on this thing? I really don't want to have to FXZ this thing again. Also.. when I use RSDLite to flash the phone, does that completely remove any trace of bootstrap or any custom recovery? Or is that part of the phone left alone during a flash? Does that even make sense?
Ultimately, I want to get safestrap installed so I can try out the ICS roms out there since they have everything working now!
Nobody? I know I went into some detail that I probably didnt have to, but I thought the question was simple enough.
Download safe strap apk it is in my guide the link since your rooted already open app select install or whatever once your done reboot etc... its all in my guide just do everything past the motofail root method....

Hi all, I'm new with bionic as my previous phone was Photon. I tried to flash to ICS leak on my bionic, I'm on 905 OTA rooted. In my experience i tried to flash Eclips 3.0 but always had no data access.(grey triangle blinking) but I can received call and SMS only.
Do I have to return to 902 and then OTA to 905 again or just unroot my bionic (Voodoo keeper) and then flash the ICS leak 6.7.232.
Sorry if the question already been re post and for my bad English .
If you were able to flash Eclipse 3.0, then you must have installed either Bootstrap or Safestrap, neither of which can be used to install the ics leak. It must be done in stock recovery. If you have either of those installed you will have to remove them.
Ok, thanks, so i will erase boot or safestrap from my phone an will enter cwm recovery manually. But if i fail or stuck in the bootloop can i just directly restore from my backup.

Unfortunately you probably need to have either bootstrap or safestrap installed to restore from a backup, depending on which you used to make it.

Oh that's right. I'm experienced bootlop when i m flashing eclips 3.0 and some how when i reebooted several times it came through on eclips with that grey triangle problem. One more question, which zip do you recommend to used for return to 902. There is 902 with 666 mb and 902 custom with 456 mb zip file.
Thanks

I am wishing to sideload a stock update.zip of the latest JB firmware for the Atrix HD. All I have is fastboot and stock recovery. I've been trying to flash the sbf and all I've had is trouble. How can I go about converting an sbf (or xml.zip) into an update.zip?
Thanks!
Edit: sorry, this wasn't appropriate for the dev section. I am really looking for an update.zip that can be flashed from stock recovery, or an update binary so I can make my own.
Wrong section.

Hello people,
I have HTC Desire C, Unlocked, S-ON, HBOOT-1.28.0000, stock ROM rooted with Munjeni Touch v5.5.0.4 as Custom Recovery.
Yesterday, I received an official update (after so long, wow) but when I choose to install it, phone reboots in CWM in error, displaying a yellow triangle with a ! inside and nothing can be done after that.
Any help?
Thank you,
Nikos.
You cannot update with a custom recovery. Flash stock recovery then try to upgrade.

Ah crap, I was afraid of that. Next million dollar question: How do I find the stock recovery again? I assume extracting it from a stock ROM?
EDIT: Thanks my friend, I found it from your signature!
No luck. Installed stock Recovery, update begins, but stops after a couple of seconds, with a red triangle on a phone icon.
Do you have stock kernel?

Yes, the only mods I've applied was unlocking the phone via htcdev, install Munjeni CWM and root via SuperUser.
I applied stock recovery back as I said above but no luck....
