Official RC1 for CM7.2 - Atrix 4G Android Development

There is a new CM7 RC1 release for the Olympus phone dated 3/14 found here:
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=olympus
Since there has been no discussion or activity concerning this, I thought I would point out it's existence.

Welcome!!!

Yeah, that's odd. It is dated 3/16 but haven't seen any discussion about it.
I did notice that the Atrix is still not listed under supported devices on http://www.cyanogenmod.com/devices .

There is a post about it in the General area of the Atrix Forums that already has some discussion on it. Located here.

Your welcome. I only say it cause I was looking through there the other day. Last I remember people posted their ROMS in this area or discussed things in this area for bugs that they find and can have a developer fix. Since there isnt a CM7.2 Dev around to fix them, kinda defeats the purpose of having the topic in the Dev area where it can be fixed.
At least that is my understanding of the Development area. I could be wrong on all accounts.

1. This was posted multiple times already.
2. Don't post threads in the development section unless you are developing something.

Starting Threads with questions in dev is prohibited... But from what I understand posting a link in the development section to a Rom like CM7.2 (currently under development) should be perfectly acceptable, even if you didn't develop it yourself.
budh99, I think you should change the title to reflect it's "7.2"

I do believe this should be under development. I havent seen any other post in this section being updated about CM 7.2, nor announcing that it became available. Unless if youre willing to look and search, this is revelant news.

I actually have been, and also the Weekly Thread. I did state I havent seen anything updated on the OP of those threads stating that they did reach a RC.
Not a lot of people look under General unfortunately...

Definatley agree. I backed out and counted down 5 threads to find Cog 4.2.2. Can a mod close this and get it off the front page. It's annoying for someone to not read the first post of a thread but not even read the first page of the forum is even worse.
LOL! I don't understand why people have a need to bash each other around. I answered the man's question on the second post. Simple.

jaybob or kush deck aosp

Which of these roms will make my old heroc that my gf is currently using quicker to the touch with more battery life. she is currently running aospcm 234.
Seriously how much more aosp can you get.... I used my heroc for a whole year either running cm or something by the dev aosp. now I have jaybob, evervolv, kush deck, etc.... Can someone who has used these roms individually from a non biased standpoint tell me which to use and why? (refrain from fanboy banter)
In the meantime I'm going to put kush deck with jaybobs kernel on there.

Depending on the patience level of your girlfriend, you might want to refrain from Jaybob's kernal. The camera is sometimes intermittent.
If she just wants everything to work, you should consider AOSPs froyo, everything is rock solid stable.
I'm currently trying out Deck, I've used all of them and the only quirk that bothers me is sometimes the GPS signal gets lost. I've actually lowered the max cpu settings and it hasn't happened since...but I'm sure it will.

Although I have not yet tried deck, I have tried aosp's , cm7 (not the latest rc, tho), evervolv, and jaybob's. I would say that out out those, jaybob's was the most hassle-free. Just make sure to flash the .29 kernel so to avoid camera issues (which the .35 tends to have ).
Gin & Salsa
Btw, this should be posted in the q&a section.....
Gin & Salsa
I have been on both. Although I used deck longer both Jaybob's and deck were both equally smooth and hassle free. I recently moved to the most recent CM7 release (not nightly) and love it. It's my new daily driver.
Good luck!

How, would anyone in general or q&a section be able to properly answer that question? And not to mention as promptly as you all just did.

Just a side note. How do I get rid of the post since its bothering a few people. I think op should be able to delete all somehow right?

Your post in the dev section didn't bother me at all, I just told you it was in the wrong section (as an afterthought...) because there had been quite a bit of hoopla going on lately over that subject (non-dev related posts in the dev section) ... Not so much in the hero c threads, but still. as for getting answered, a lot of knowledgeable people read the q&a section simply because they like helping. You would definitely get answered, maybe not quite as promptly, but definitely.
You can ask a mod to delete the post if you like.
Gin & Salsa
we are here to help thats what xda is for as long as u dont post questions in development your fine if u have a specific question about a rom post it in that roms thread and youll get help alot faster and if it has to do with a bug it helps developers fix the rom to make it better. so please just dont start new threads in development asking questions.

99% of the people in here have tried most ROMs. And on top of all those still here, many of us still check these threads that finally moved on to bigger, better phones.

Cool..cool.. anywho I hear ya on the bigger and badder phones. I'm on evo shift now and love it. When I was on heroc still the best rom imo was aosps froyo. Might very well be still. But gf has heroc now and I want to make sure her phone can keep up with mine. honestly the hero gets better cell service then my shift does. anyways back to the point at hand.. The heroc scene blew back up and I'm excited about it. these deck roms have one hell of a reputation from what I'm gathering. But jaybobs sort of specializing in this phone vs the mass produced roms of kush. I wish I could grab some more opinions from you guys if you have the time.

For your GF, I'd ruu her back to stock unless she's a techie , then let her decide.. I spend my time trying all these roms for the heroc and I've yet to find one that doesn't have one problem or the other on my particular phone.. Right now I'm on omfgb and its pretty cool, but it has its own set of problems..
did we seriously just do a full 360 on this dude just an fyi the same people that post in development look around in q/a to help out and same goes for general its the exact same comunity. and not as maney people posted afterwords because you already had answers so why would someone reapeat what someone else has already said bottom line is read the forum rules and post in the correct section!

A feature where questions are temp posted and can be answered quickly would be cool. That's all I'm getting at. the qna section is very useful yes. ps did you notice that the percent of purple complaining about me posting in the wrong section was about equal to the number of thoughtful answers to my questions. Id say its not a problem half the time. No hard feelings. love xda the the users.

if we make a thread inside the dev section for answering questions it would defeat the purpose of THIS q&a section, wouldn't it.......one way to find out which rom is the most popular would be to scan the number of posts in each rom's thread. For instance, look at the amount of activity in the aospcmod gb thread. Easily the most popular rom.

You could always specify in the first changelog the changes you made from AOSP.
Additionally, since you didn't specify in the thread it was an AOSP build, people can't really assume that, and thus ask for screenshots.
Just saying. You could maneuver a lot of "unwanted" replies by posting comprehensive information.

The whole thread is meant to direct people to RootzWiki for info, and if people asked stuff there, or even read through stuff there then these unwanted replies wouldn't be needed either. Once again why I dislike XDA, I only put this up here after a request at RootzWiki to put a link, not because I felt like getting questions like this.

i agree that things are not how they were on xda but one thing i know is that there will never be a better resource than xda. I can bet you that even if you decide to post only on rootwiki, you'll still come on xda to check out the latest. since long devs have tried to do that, first was htcpedia.com ( during the windows 6,6.x era ) , even paul coudnt come close with modaco.
I seriously think you should stick to xda. My 2 cents.

Users request an update to the OP: suggestion that you install from jb tar file first (one click or odin doesn't matter) to allow the system to set up partitions properly.
Order the change logs in the OP from most recent changed /newest version, down to oldest version. It will allow us to immediately see what has changed in the newest version vs scrolling all the way down.
Suggestion: Keep change logs to a minimum of 3 previous versions including the latest, and attach a notepad document to the OP with any versions change log that is older than the newest 3. Will keep the OP short.

This is more or less a thread for the guys and galls that bring Jellyverse together. Others are more than welcome to join in as well.
Its actually not unusual to have Off topic threads or multiple related threads for ROM teams. Go look in the Inspire 4g section.
