[Q] Few questions about internals and compatabilities - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

From what I understand there are a few versions of this phone..... N7000, N7003 and i717. I have read and just want to confirm, the N7000 is more powerful than the i717 for AT&T? 1.5ghz dual as apposed to 1.4ghz dual?
Secondly, I am currently on Verizon. I am using a Razr Maxx with micro Sim. Can I use this phone (unlocked) on Verizon (1)? and (2) will I be able to access 4G LTE? I just left AT&T to got o Verizon and now I WANT THIS PHONE!
Sorry for all the noob questions. I tried to do my research before posting a question. Thanks for any help.

The Note on AT&T is of a different chipset. It uses Qualcomm Snapdragon processor which is clocked at 1.5 ghz.
The international note GT N7000 uses Samsung's Exynos chipset clocked at 1.4ghz !
Hit thanks if it helped!

No, you will not be able to use Verizon with this phone. Verizon is CDMA based, where as the Galaxy Note GT-N7000 is based on the GSM network which is used all over the world. You have two major choices with the this version of the Note. You can either use AT-T or T-Mobile...and any company that sells plans that use either one of their towers. That's it.
This is for US customers...I'm sure there are other companies in other countries.

So I CAN use either the AT&T or T-Mobile version of the note unlocked on Verizon? Will the phone be able to access Verizon's 4G LTE? Or only 3G?

Okay. You are NOT LISTENING! You cannot use this phone on Verizon... period! If you want to use it on AT&T, buy the N7000; the 1.4GHz Exynos is faster. If you want to use it on T-Mobile, buy the I717; it can use T-Mobile's 3G/4G bands.

LG P925 (or P920) with 4G or 3G for T-mobile USA network?

So, I'm using a P925 thrill AT&T branded which is UNLOCKED on T-mobile USA. But only getting 2G edge data speeds, and I'm being told no matter what I do, or what baseband I flash, I will never get anything other than edge on this device. My question is, is there a comparable device that DOES offer 3g/4g T-mobile USA compatibility?
I'm trying to migrate from unlocked iPhone's (again, using on T-mobile USA) to Android - simply because I'm bored of iPhone's... Have had them all except the 4S - but have a iPhone 4 so its pretty much the same thing. While I know the 3D of the Thrill is a little gimmicky, I think its one of the coolest "gimmicks" to hit in a long time, and because I only recently got a 3D TV -- well, recording 3D video's and watching them at home is pretty effin cool.
So, am I stuck with a T-mobile branded Galaxy device if I want 4G or 3G on T-mobile USA?
Any advice would be helpful, since I'm pretty much an Android Noob! THANKS!
If I remember correctly the optimus 3d might work with t-mobile usa. But you might have to double check just to make sure .
This is off topic, but how did you unlock your phone?
You should be able to use the 2100 UMTS band with T-Mobile, but I believe you need both the 1700 and 2100 bands for full 3G. If so, you need a baseband for either T-Mobile, Wind or another Canadian Carrier with T-Mo's 3G bands. The nice thing about this phone is it's flexibility of use with other networks by baseband flash. (Now we need other leaked GB basebands.... Ugh.)
If you want a non branded Android phone that works on Tmobile 3G/4G bands look at the Incredible S, Sensation (International Version), Sensation XE, Nexus Galaxy, the TELUS version of the Galaxy S II and the Nexus S.

yes o3d p920 works. but there are 2 versions of p920. make sure it has 1700mhz baseband. this is where i bought
http://www.atgsm.com/LG_P920_Optimus_3D_Black_p/phone-lgp920black.htm
So are there any basebands available that I can flash to my p925 to get t-mobile usa 3g/4g speed?
Q: how did I unlock my p925?
I took it to a store, and they unlocked it for me.

I am also looking for this baseband so I can get my LG Thrill 4G to work with 3G (or hopefully 4G) speeds on T-Mobile. Please share the love!
I'm only getting 2G speeds on T-Mobile (I am in the USA, San Francisco area).

galaxy note vs. galaxy note LTE phone

So whats the difference between them? What does LTE mean? And can I use it in Sweden if it is sim card unlocked?
Lte stands for long term evolution, you have to check if lte is available in your country with the correct spectrum. currently, lte phones have snapdragon s3... ( HTC evo 3d, sensation, Samsung galaxy s hercules, skyrocket, LTE and some more.
...and let the confusion begin...

Chances are, if you don't know what LTE, is you don't need it!
That being said, a Google search suggests that Sweden was the first country in the world to offer a commercial LTE network, but if you don't know much about it as a resident, I guess it can't be widespread?
Regards,
Dave
But can I use it like a normal 3g and gsm phone?
very confusing

LTE is 4G
You would be able to use the phone in Sweden. But I don't know which of the many frequencies would work. 4G is being rolled out in a lot of places now but might take a couple of years for good coverage. If you are in Stockholm, Goteborg or Malmo then perhaps you will get lucky with it.
You are probably better off with the regular Galaxy Note as it has a faster GPU and the LTE version will require different ROM's so perhaps not so well supported here on XDA. The first 3 months of age are the hardest so the ROM's on the Note are only now becoming really good, fast and stable now its 3 months old.
The Galaxy Note on HSPU+ already gets really good speeds.

Yes you probably can.
Galaxy note has h+ modem which it's slower than LTE one.
It's advantage of LTE version. Unfortunately other hardware differences are disadvantages of LTE gnote.
By the way: LTE transfer is available in Poland

Then what's the point of having an LTE device if you can't/won't use it? Why don't you just buy the "regular" Note?
Keep in mind, one of the main issues with LTE is that it uses more battery than HSPA+
The LTE Note will fall back to 3G, if no 4G/HSPA network is available

[Q] How can I access 4G LTE with my GT-N7000

I currently have the most up to date SIM card for AT&T, I am on the 4G LTE plan, my phone spec's say it should work, but the best I can get is H+ service. My area in San Diego has LTE speeds. Does anyone know how to get this phone to work on the LTE network. AT&T tells me it won't because I didn't buy it from them.
The N7000 doesn't have LTE.

Only HSPA+ on the Int Note
As noted.. you will only get LTE on the Note that comes directly from AT&T.

I thought only the processor changed, not the guts of the phone... that sucks!!!! Regardless, the international version of the phone is far superior than the one offered by AT&T. I don't have all the baggage to contend with
I'm confused .
I found these specs for the GT-N7000:
Also known as Samsung GT-N7000, Samsung I9220
General 2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100
4G Network LTE 700 (region specific)
Then I searched to see what band or frequency AT&T uses for LTE and found it is LTE 700. My region has it. Therefore, my phone is capable and there must be a setting to get the phone to talk to the network. My plan has been changed and I have the newest SIM card installed. There has to be a away .

Dude, Exynos chipset does not support LTE. N700 does not have LTE support. You'd have to buy an AT&T version to make LTE work.

See how it says "region specific"? This is not an LTE phone in Europe. This is not an LTE phone period. The AT&T Note has LTE, and that was tacked onto the Note's list of frequencies because the AT&T Note can get it. Not because yours can.
Your phone is not capable of LTE. It doesn't matter what sim card you use, what region you're in, or if you practice black magic.
I think hebis confused because the Korean lte note?
Which has exynos right
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk
Note has to have a specific hardware to cater for a LTE signal and international N7000 don;t have it... This is the reason why every galaxy note in korea and AT&T's galaxy note is equipped with snapdragon processor and not with exynos chipset...
I love answering this question over and over again! Exynos 4210 = no LTE. Snapdragon S3 = LTE.
As far as the CPU vs guts question goes, modern phones don't use separate CPU, GPU, RAM, etc. They use an SoC (System on a chip) which combines these elements into one module. Exynos is the name of the SoC; not the CPU.

The listed specifications from GSMArena is off, there is a Galaxy Note LTE prior to AT&T's, but it is specific to South Korean market and had the model number SHV-E160. This is the same one that AT&t sells in the U.S. now as the SGH-I717 with the Snapdragon processor.

Seems to be the million dollar question. No question Negri Electronics calls out LTE on the international they are offering up for pre sale. Other websites show LTE included in specs also. Yet, others don't show LTE on international specs. Does anyone really know? The obvious reason is if LTE included then the international version is basically the same as the U.S. version, if LTE works on quad core that is. If same, those who don't want to wait can get international, and if LTE not inc., and if LTE is a deal breaker, will have to wait for U.S. version, and who knows when available with AT&T.
I want to pre order international version. LTE or no LTE, that is the question........anyone really know?

Tmobile LTE is 1900 and the 8.9 is 1800 or vise versa. 1G is first generation wireless which was under 100k. It is 3 generations older than 4G and that is bad. You can do what I did sign up for 1 month for $50 and try to tweak it. They put a huge amount of pressure on me to sign up for two years and I am extremely glad it was only one month.
