I rooted my phone (Milestone) with the SuperOneClick method, but it seems that that isn't enough to flash custom ROMs, and I need to use OpenRecovery to flash custom ROMs. I'm trying to follow this guide but the link for Recovery-Only SBF for Milestones with firmware 2.1 is down. Does anyone know where I can get a copy of that? Thanks

Why would you want to use the deprecated version? That guide needed an update more than a year ago already .
The correct link to current version is still working fine.
See http://android.doshaska.net/rootable
The correct direct link is and always was http://www.mediafire.com/?jzzjmmrvwkz

This is an updated (and short) version of my guide for rooting and/or unbricking your DROID 3. This method works on Motorola phones running Android OS 2.3.4 or earlier. If you have a version of MotoBlur/Android on your DROID 3 that isn't compatible with this version, you can use the unbrick method to return your DROID 3 to MotoBlur 5.6.890 Verizon OTA first.
All instructions and downloads are linked from my website at:
www.psouza4.com/DROID3
UPDATE 9/1/2011 1.03: completely re-written, includes one-click root and unroot for practically all Motorola Gingerbread devices, /system/app fix & restore, and ADB temp root. DROID 3 fixes work for build 5.5.959 (stock) and 5.6.890 (late August OTA update).
UPDATE 9/8/2011 1.05: lots of logic testing for fixing bad root attempts/root carry-over's for DROID X, DROID 2 Global, and other devices. Some messages were made clearer, and unrooting is now open to other devices (/system/app restore optional).
UPDATE 7/8/2012 1.08: new links for the system restore features
UPDATE 6/14/2013 1.09: guide re-written, files re-uploaded, everything should be working again (I removed /system/app restore feature since it wasn't reliable and now unnecessary with unbrick/restore methods)
Thanks! That was dead easy and i'm happy that i still have root after rebooting a couple of times.
I assume that if i do a factory wipe, I will have to use this root method again, right?

No, you will lose superuser.apk which can be re-installed from the market as it is wiped when the /data partition is formatted, but su and busybox are installed in /system/xbin and will not be removed during a factory reset, so it will survive a factory reset (but you will just need to reinstall superuser).
oki doki.... i saw another thread on unrooting the phone and if i have to exchange it, i'll experiment there

So freaking stoked to try this tomorrow.
My Droid 3 is in Tennessee and i'm too damn hyped...i've contemplated driving to go get it, DAMN!
@psouza4, is this a script made by you? I make websites and fancy stuff like that and i'm steadily compiling all my information on the Evo into web format and would be interested in including this method with my Droid 3 page in the works at your request.

Yes it is (but don't credit me for finding the exploit, I'm just automating it).
Hey souza quick Q for you.
Does your one click modify the build.prop ?
I saw it modified something during the process but blanked out

Edit: nevermind, it was local.prop

Don't worry about ForeverRoot. It's based off an older exploit. Motofail will keep you rooted all the way up to at least 5.9.905.

Hey @qbking77, Could you put in your OP which method you used please? Moto or CF's Autoroot?
Thanks!
:edit: I need to add why I'm asking - We have had a report of Motochopper not letting an app that needs root function properly where CF's Autoroot does. Being that it's early in the game, people may want to know this. I understand that CF has a disclaimer using the autoroot method but it's still a viable solution with the numbers coming in on successful. I do not believe we have had a failed attempt on Sprint devices. (Please correct me if I'm wrong)

I used motochopper. If anyone has issues with an app, just install busybox from the play store.

Hey Tim,
Any know how on how to use for a Mac?
Thanks
Thanks for the video. I did get it to work though I ran into an error. It said that more than 1 deviced or emulator detected. I exited Bluestacks, pdanet and the Galaxy streaming server. After closing those programs, I ran the batch file and it was successful. I'm sure that bluestacks caused the issue. Just a warning for those using this program.
Any word on whether this works with the newest firmware update?

I'm not sure if anyone has actually received the update yet.
Just got it, took a quick stop at the house. Rooted. Worked like a charm. Make sure you have nothing like bluestacks running. Like a previous user has stated. I was having issue till I made sure everything else was off. Even pdanet
Install kingroot apk and then root with pingpong root. Kingroot will give you access go get em kiddos!

Does anyone have a link to root for the T-Mobile LG Leon 5.1.1? I see links pointing to KingRoot but alot of people are saying it doesn't work for 5.1.1......I see custom ROMs listed so I know root is available, I just can't find a clear answer or link to a working root...again, T-Mobile LG Leon 5.1.1, NOT MetroPCS....everyone keeps pointing me to the MetroPCS version and I don't wanna make the wrong attempt and brick the phone because it is not mine.
thanks.

What I'm saying is use pingpong root to root the phone. Then have kingroot installed because it will pop-up when an app requests root for you to approve.

Never mind what I said. But you need kingroot and you need to replace the King user with superuser. It's quite easy
Sent from my LG-H345
Can someone confirm this works for H34510e? Excited to develop for this phone.
Yes it does. You will need king root and then you replace King user with super user. Simply search how on Google.
