Unless Vibranturk knows how to compile kernels, he is of no use right now. Sorry, I would take a go at it, I just don't have any Linux installed right now and don't wanna DL the source to build the kernel. You have to build a modified kernel for the Phone to boot, you can try flashing Glitch after you the flash the ROM and reboot.

Hi all,
If anyone wants to play with this and let me know how it works feel free. Its the system directory from an AOSP eclair build using the Samsung Vibrant source download from the opensource website.I have no Vibrant myself I just built this as a test to see if it would build clean with no errors using the samsung files as a test for when the Epic 4g sources get released. Please feel free to use it in a rom or whatever you chose and post back if it works or not.
www[DOT]mediafire[DOT]com/?wytytv44odtdsdx
EDIT: This is not flashable! This is a stock /system filesystem from a build of AOSP android this is the base for a ROM not a complete ROM in itself.
Most likely it won't work cause Eugene is working from the aosp but is running into problems getting sound and camera to work.
I was just surprised it compiled the first run I saw another post where they were getting a lot of errors. And I figured there would be corrupt files I had a hell of a time extracting the archieve.

I haven't tried building the kernel yet but I pulled the intramfs from a vibrant and captivate kernel to compare them togther and see if there are any real differences which it seems there really isn't that I noticed. One thing I did notice though is that the samsung kernel sources don't build the initramfs into the kernel that I noticed. With the Samsung Moment the sources had a file to build the kernel modules and a couple other programs that went into the intramfs and it had the initramfs_list file hidden inside the source somewhere it doesn't seem like they did that with the vibrant kernel source. How do they expect you to build a kernel that requires an initramfs in it and not build it into the kernel during the compile?I am gonna tinker around and probably use the initramfs_list file from the Moment initramfs and just add in all the directorys and files that are in the vibrant/epic/captivated initramfs.
it gets stuck on "installing update"
my clockwork does that from time to time with any zip file, just pull the battery and retry
Thats just a raw /system filesystem it would need to be cooked into a rom for it to be flashable.I threw it up there for someone to try and cook a rom out of it.
Has anyone had the problem when trying to compile a kernel that the suppiled build script doesn't build the modules?I can get the zImage to build but it won't build the modules at all.I would like to at least get it built with the samsung script and get the modules built then use the modules in the initramfs and try to build it with another script with the initramfs in the kernel.

Apparently the cyanogen guys are working on porting this to the SGS before they continue with work on cyanogen itself, and then will upgrade to v7 cyanogen using the new AOSP base.

Lol.
Thanks for this, I can use the images from this dump to improve my theme!
I'm hoping that since its almost identical to the Samsung Galaxy S series phones that it shouldnt be too hard to cook up a ROM for the SGS series phones.
Also, I hope the GPS works better than the SGS phones, maybe somebody can look at the source code and figure out a way to fix the GPS on the SGS phones once and for all!
Keeping my fingers crossed!
GPS
Given the hardware similarities between the Nexus S and other SGS models, I'm curious as to the GPS performance of the NS and if the devs will identify software based improvements that we can apply to our SGS phones specifically the Captivate.

Yea, in all honesty, I'd rather Samsung stop working on Froyo and just give us Gingerbread on the Galaxy S phones. Why even bother putting out Froyo now?
And you know they wont update the Galaxy S phones to Gingerbread.

Glensta... No. Not CWM. Odin. Read OP I think you have to include another thing that you have to provide on your own.
OMFG people...
this is not meant for the end user....
you can't flash this...
this is not for CWM or ODIN....
only developers can make use of this.....
This is the SOURCE code which you need to compile into binary, executable code before your phone can run it. It is the source code for the Vibrant kernel. The kernel contains the low level driver code and provides basic services for the OS running on your phone. Unless you are a dev and building custom kernels or ROMs, you probably won't want or need this.

There is no kernel at all, you must compile it.

Hi all
I'm interested in trying out cyonagenmod, but i have no idea which rom to flash.
I thought i would just try the latest nightly build, found here -
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=nightly&device=galaxysmtd
but then found this -
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/24052-cyanogenmod-7-for-the-samsung-galaxy-s-v710-rc1-26-june-2011/
Which looks almost more official, like it might be more stable, but i have no idea. there is no description on how it differs to a nightly rom.
Which one should i try? Hope you can help.
You should flash the latest nightly, but remember the Nightly #82, need a Gingerbread Bootloader to the best work

Not just any ROM, it must include the bootloader. that means the PDA-file (.tar or .tar.md5) must contain boot.bin and Sbl.bin
check the ones marked with Sbl here
I prefer this thread with bootloaders flashable to odin.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16374373&postcount=70
You putting your bootloader in PDA, dont tick re-partition
I want to try CM7 too but don't know whether Traditional Chinese can be displayed and edit successfully?
cm is a very nice an diff rom....i was very happy wen i flashd it,so many choices an tweaks..very smooth an fine tuned..but also download the google addon package...the site has faq so u can search ur doubt an well..cheeerz

Morning guys!
Yesterday I installed the Criskelo ICS ROM. I also installed the update, from v1.3 to v1.4. But when I installed this, my loved S-Planner disappeared.
So the question I have now for you is following:
How do I get my S-Planner back, or where can I download the .APK for installing it manually?
This is my first post here on XDA, so I hope that you can understand if this thread is placed on the wrong place or similar.

Bub S-Planner is not included in this ROM as if now!! so if you want it, then you can flash some other compliant ROM.
IMHO all ICS ROM's demand high maintenance and have some functionality missing or broken.
Would suggest you to switch to any GB ROM, all are perfect for daily use and have all the functionality.
Suggestion : Rocket Rom V22

ICS is not stable as of now. Better start with GB roms and wait a lil longer for a stable ICS leak or official build!!
My recommendation is go ahead with the rocket rom v22 and (later can flash ICS theme if u so like) as suggested by Samuel. Use the Franco Kernel 9 and BOOM you will jump in AWESOMENESS !
