Guys what it the best kernel for checkrom V6?
I mean.. i want advices BUT why did you made such a choice?
For me it is Franco hands down. Tested v2, v6 and the latest 'test' one (this will become v10 tomorrow or the day after, judging by the users' comments), and all proved to be smooth, fast, stable and easy on the battery on my Note.
I would second Franco kernel also. Been using it since v6 had no problems with lag at all. Battery life with this combination seems good as well.
Now this is a good start
I have been in CF ROOT for XXLC1 but i dunno why i feel the stock kernel is a little bit lagged in menus!
Will try Franco Kernel
Thanks for your replys!

Franco 9.....pure awesomeness !! Best battery backup m getting by using it. Earlier tried Abyss 4.2 but got a high battery drain !
Go for Franco !!!
but doesn't changing the kernel change some supported features in the rom ? like ntfs support for instance ?

Check the changelogs of the kernel you are about to use it will give you all the salient features and changes that it has and can happen!
Cheers!
Hey guys,
Don't wanna seem like jacking the thread, but is it possible to install Vertamus's ICS theme in V6?

Yeah of course! I have it installed on my phone. just go to the inbuilt kitchen (update it to the latest version from google play store) and download the file given there under the themes section. Its version1.1 as of now. And install it in recovery !!
Cheers! Hit thanks if it helped!
I was using stock CF-Root and it was fine, but the battery drain was a bit higher vs V5 CheckROM. Installed Franco and its running great, 1.5% Per Hour idle.
was using checkrom v6 with Franco's test kernel. Seems like its draining battery more than stock. Gonna verify it over the nxt few days by using stock
Also on Franco test kernel.
Also on franco kernel v9, works like a charm. Good battery life but no as good as CheckROM v5 & franco v6
For me Franco kernel cause constant sods.
I keep trying a newer versions and still same issue. This problem doesn't occur for me on other kernels

Yeah for some of the users Franco gives sods or screen salad issue - pixelated screen while other kernels work fine for them! Thankfully works fine for me

We got this Hummingbird and our beautiful hackable phone in here could any one give an advice on which kernel and rom package would be better when it comes to daily usage and having a well native OC/UV support, tweaks.
here are the ones that i knew..!
ROM's
Jetpack v4,Darky 10.3 EE,Cm7,MiUi Galnet,Insanity,SURFACE v3.4..etc!
Kernel's
Galaxian,Tegrak,Glitch(nly for Cm7 and MiUi),Semaphore,Darkcore,Hardcore Speedmod..!
and from all the above ones i just tried Darky v10.2+Darkcore it was "okay" and no OC support, can i get a kernel that has the power like Trinity Kernel for Nexus S and having some pretty good tweaks and enhanced UI ??
If you got any ideas just drop em right here!!

Vote for Insanity's CM from me.
Haven't tried OC, but UV works fine and 1.6ghz OC is supported with kernels like Neo's platypus and Glitch.
Also gives good battery life even when using heavier.
Never got FC's or random reboots.

it's not much diference.EE is final.take a look at the changelog.
I'm on cm7 nightly 103. As there is no more nightlies coming for some obvious reasons, I decided to stick to this one until the new nightlies start rolling(#104 has battery drain issues and some other issues)... And after using this for over two weeks, I must say this is the most stable, fassst and battery efficient(60-70 hours on normal use- GPS, wifi, 3G triggered manually) rom I've ever flashed!!
OK So this is the burning question i have to ask next. ??
!!!! N-7000 SERIES ONLY !!!!!
BEST ROM with FULL Galaxy Note Spen Functionality and all the Touchwiz apps.
with WHAT KERNEL ?
and how long have you been running the rom? with how often does the rom Crash (making the phone do a soft reboot)
I am very curious to see what people are running on there Gnote since now that the Gnote now is becoming so popular. i am personally running Checkrom NOTEHDv5 with normal CF kernel and it is stable but sometimes it crashes and there alot of bugs. and i am in the market to changing roms but this is my DAILY use PHone so i am curious what my proud Gnote friends are running on there devices.
i used many of the roms out there and i end up using the new midnote 2.2
i think its the best ics rom so far , with every thing working on it . the good thing about it is down clocked to 1.2 ghz , which is good for the battery .
My choice:
Rocket ROM v23 with Franco Kernel (latest test-version).
Fast, stable, super battery-life. Couldn't be happier with a gingerbread-combination.
Lol i don't know what one i want to switch to :-\

I try many roms and i find this:-
- if you like ICS but without full galaxy note functionality go as AOSP latest vesion
- if you like ICS with full galaxy note functionality go as midnote 2
- if you like gingerbread with battery life go as checkrom
that is my personal opinion
but i want to know, why all people go to rocketrom not checkrom ?
Yes!! What Elk said.. RR V23 with Franco #9
I personally like checkrom but i am using hardcore's kernel and its amazing

Well im on stock 2.2.1 froyo with CF-ROOT kernel. got this phone as present lats week. haven`t flash it yet xD but ,as anyone here, i just love flashing
I am using cm9 nightlies - based on 4.0.4 because of its stability, good battery life and performance, settings + twics - tw launcher, weather widget and some other things from sgs3, atm with devil3 .79 kernel, with stock ram (378mb, if needed, i can increase it up to 403mb), stable oc up to 1400mhz (with semaphore 1140max., 1200 -> bootloop), also gpu is oc-able ... but if u dont want to oc, semaphore kernel is better for u
I'm reinstalling right now the miui speed ics by lucainno, with devil3 kernel. I really love this rom expecially for the layout, which is different from any other rom! The speed is great and battery life as well. And the kernel is simply... awesome! For its customization
Hi, I'm using ics 4.0.4 cna by franzy with the midnight kernel. I had the devil before but i got a bootloop. With the last midnight the phone is smooth, no lags, good battery life, no bugs until now !
Saurom jw5 + semaphore + ext4 works for me.. very smooth ops. Sticking to 2.3.6 for the fm radio
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA
I'm running the CM9 nightlies as well, with a Semaphore kernel. Very stable and good batteri life, although I'm thinking about comparing with a devil3 kernel. Right now, with the battery life I'm having the most important thing for me is the stability, though.

i dont think there is a "best rom"
every device is a bit different from other
so you can figure out which rom and kernel is working best on your device......
NoteCore Ex seems to work well for gaming purposes..
To be honest, I'd go with a lite ROM, also ensure there's not much such as Live WP etc running and also do you have Chainfire HD installed?
I know Gavin OC's both CPU and GPU in his extreme Kernel releases so this may help you - check his thread he's a great Dev.. Very active and very helpful.. However, As always, SEARCH before posting in the threads as alot of questions have already been asked and answered a hundred times..

Id say gaming is more of a Kernel thing rather than a ROM thing.
Ive been playing dead trigger (with tegra graphics enabled) without a single glitch using NoteCore kernels (latest is V9 EX - OC'd to 1.6ghz) and they are the best kernels available for Samsung ROMs (IMO)
you should give it a try

+1 :good:
Notecore is a kernel for performance.
I'm using Notecore e Speedmod alternately, testing new versions when they came out :good:
I've been sticking with NoteCore OC since V3...it's a great kernel and whilst it's a performance kernel, it provides good battery life...I'd say that I'm a moderate user (much texting (100messages a day), approx. 5-10 calls, 1h of music, 1h of gaming, 1,5h of browsing/other stuff) and i get 1,5 to 2 days...can't complain [I'm also using TW-Roms since I loathe google (yeah, I know...) and S Planner is the only good organizer imho]

OK, I am intrigued. Why will the Franco Kernel be so much better (and yes, I did read the Franco kernel thread.) I am looking for observations. What would you expect to see from his beyond the Speedmod or Notecore? What do you mean by "monster"?
I am also interested to note that no one mentioned the CF-Root Kernel. Chainfire is one of the most trusted developers here and I thought I would see someone using his kernel. Is there someone out there using CF-Root with 4.04 that can comment? (yes I have read the thread). I would like your observations on why you went with that kernel, especially when there are reported issues with wifi.
Goku here. Great battery life, performance is also good and everything works which is not the case with the other custom kernel. For example on most custom kernels my security software does not work (gdata mobile security). If only funky had not removed all the governors that were available in previous versions. But no product without some disadvantages.

The problem with cf-root is the fact that cf does not alter the kernel which means it still contains the brick bug. Not in cwm but for example when you reset your device to factory defaults. And since he does not add anything else than cwm his kernels also suffer from the deep sleep problem and all other glitches that come with the stock rom and kernel.

I did flash the Notecore STD and so far I am a little more impressed. Too soon to tell yet, but I did have some small issues that at the moment I am not seeing. Stability is most important for me. I will report further. If the CF-Root still has the bug then no I won't be flashing it. I thought I read that 5.6 fixed that bug but no, it really wasn't so CF-root is off my list for the moment. But I am open to hearing more about the new Franco kernel. Thanks for all the feedback.

Chainfire fixed the bug in cwm. But since he does not alter the kernel itself it still contains the bug and can trigger it if you do a fatory reset. So we could say it's half fixed
I have to say that so far my phone has been rock solid with the Notecore v.13 kernel (Standard, not the OC version). Not a single issue and not a single lockup. It is still a little early to say definitively that there are no issues, but so far I have to say that for me this is a definite keeper over the Speedmod k3-13. With Speedmod I had a few hiccups, just little things, and a few lockups, none of which I have seen with the Notecore kernel. And no, I won't be trying the OC kernel. I am not wishing to push the envelope. But this is an excellent kernel. Too early to really compare the battery life but I haven't observed anything really bad and I am a very heavy user, so count me a happy camper.
Edit: I may have spoken too quickly about not trying the Notecore OC. I have read some amazing claims of battery life with the OC version. After I have a good record of stability with the Standard kernel then I think I will try the OC. I can always go back.
AOKP - Asylm BBRQ3
TW - Notecore 13 Standard.
I'm on speedmod myself with just root but I've not installed any Rome yet but I have to say my battery life is much better. I hope when I install a ron it stays this way....
