Hey guys.
Yesterday, I went to a Bullet for my Valentine concert here in Brussels. I took my brand new HTC Diamond with me to shoot some videos.
After that, I got home and decided to view them.
I couldn't hear no sound! (Volume of the phone checked)
Then I tried to shoot another video while having the phone in normal mode (not silent as in the gig) and still same isue...
Any solutions?
Regards
While in the video recording mode, click on the settings tab (bottom right, gear icon).
You should now be presented with four options, choose "Advanced"
Now at the bottom of the screen you should see a right and left arrow, click the right arrow once.
The second option from the top is "Record with Audio" I would take a good bet that yours is set to off... yeah go ahead and change that to on.
Hope thats your problem... if not, your outa' luck
I guess I'm out of luck then...
Does your mic work in general, such as in a phone call.
If yes, then your simplest solution but drastic fix. Is a hard reset.
Yeah, mic does work properly. I guess I'll try a hard reset then.
Thanks!
Hi,
I have the same problem. The sound while recording video is very low. looks like the hands free sound record type is not active while recording videos.
A hard reset doesn´t help. do you know if there is some king os tweak to solve this problem?

Try to uninstall TCPMP and other players or programs that could interfere with sound on your Diamond, soft-reset, and try to record again... maybe this could help.

Well this worked for me.. see if this works for you.
Copy the file to pc. Rename the file and change the extension from ".MP4" to ".3gp".
Should play now on the Real Player or QuickTime.
Lemme know if it works!

IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!
renaming the mp4 to 3gp makes the video play with sound!!!!
thanks!!!!
Everything is connected properly. No notice of an HDMI cable to the phone. It is not rooted.
My phone is Milestone XT720, Android 2.1.
Try going to your gallery viewer and then to menu and you should have a button to display on tv. There might be some options in market to display all the time, but I really have no idea.
Sent from my Milestone XT720 using XDA App
Try a different hdmi port on the tv. If that doesnt work, try a different tv. If that doesnt work, it could be a bad cable.
The gallery works, thanks, but I want to watch movies with RockPlayer.
try real hdmi
not sure if it works on milestone but its worth a shot
http://www.appbrain.com/app/real-hdmi/com.gmanapps.realhdmi
EDIT:never mind seems to be droid x only
Rock Player doesnt output to hdmi.
Real HDMI not install for me, I'll wait until update 2.2 and will try then. Thank you.
Moved to Milestone Forum, as it has nothing to do with Android Programming

You can get your homescreen to
Appear on Tv by the following trick
Launch Gallery apps (not media gallery)
Play a short hd video (recorded with your xt720)
Select display on tv
Wait for video to finish
This will display the gallery.
Press back button
Your homescreen will be displayed on tv
The only limitation is that your xt720 lcd screen will be stuck in video control mode and your have to guess where to touch the screen!

Thanks, but...
Launch Gallery apps (not media gallery)
Play a short hd video (recorded with your xt720)
Select display on tv
Wait for video to finish
Display gallery show for a second and leave a TV screen immediately. Not stuck ... I tried several times. : (
Once i select DISPLAY ON TV show comes to incoming calls, whether to receive or NO, YES his election, whether this prolem?
I usually select YES for incoming call. Are you definitely using the Gallery app as it does not work in Media Gallery app?
Maybe try a different video, that sometimes help.
Also what software version are you on. I am using a uk xt720 with s/w
Ver str_u2_01_1e.0
Sent from my Milestone XT720 us Maing XDA App
Yes, I tried both, same result. : (
Version is the same - str_u2_01_1e.0
I just try few minutes ago. Needed few attempts to get this trick working. Not very reliable!!!
Best to have gallery in landscape mode and play at least 10 seconds of 720p video.
Also I checked rock player app and unfortunately it does not play full screen. Only youtube and default player seem to play full screen.otherwise you get only the 854x480 resolution which is only a fraction of your tv screen.
Sent from my Milestone XT720 using XDA App
Alright, thank you. After all, the pictures of the screen didn't stuck, after the video the tv just turn off. I will wait for update 2.2
Thanks again
I think the video player application has to support "Display on Tv" to get full screen. Hopefully there will be an app for that in the future

Is there a way to take a screen shot of a video being played on any of the video players on the Samsung galaxy note. For non rooted phones please. I have tried using spen for various players but just get a blank screen shot for videos.
1 Pause
2 Slide hand across the screen
You cannot, not unless you can convince your player to use software rendering as opposed to overlays.
If you need one frame only from video, there is nice app from market: Frame grabber.

Yes just need one frame for taking screenshot for labelling parts etc for powerpoint slides for teaching purposes. For example any teaching videos of procedures or ultrasound scan guided interventional procedures if I have a video but I need a frame at various stages to label the parts and use that frame as powerpoint slide. Will try the frame grabber you mentioned. Thanks.
Screencast on your Note Smartphone possible, but...

Screecasts without root access my experience, are almost impossible. There are options to root your phone. With Stockrom by Samsung you get problems. With a CustomROM CM 4.2.2 it´s working fine. The color error you also get solved. Watch PsionparkVideo on Youtube and search for "Screencast color failure corrected "

found a solution for my needs, i use the sony framegrabber app to get screen grabs on any video that i play (but need to download video first). have been using it for a while now, forgot to reply here earlier.
I've been using MX player to watch my videos on the One, and I've got some issues with it. The video occassionally freezes (audio continues) and I have to either wait a couple of seconds for it to catch up, or I have to rewind/forward to get it moving again. This happens on every single video I've tried (at least ones that I've copied over via USB) and I can't seem to figure it out. Already tried using the custom ARM7 neon codec too as suggested from MXplayer but it didn't make a difference. HW+, or software renderer does not make a difference either. Anybody else having these problems ? If so, were you able to fix it, or find a workaround ?
Forgot to add that I'm still using the stock ROM.
Try uninstalling the codec pack, you don't need it unless MX Player specifically asks for it. I can't say I've had video go out of sync before though.

Thanks! I installed it just yesterday to see if it makes any difference. Until then I was using the default codec that comes with the player. I'm using the free version of MX player if that makes any difference.
Bump
No one else having this problem ?
Maybe try a factory rest and see if that fixes it?

Yep - also have this problem sometimes - not tried uninstalling the codecs yet so will give that a try.
You could try VLC Player for android - works great for me with no lag or O/S problems.
Im Rooted, Tampered and running Android Revolution 9.2, with custom 1.29 Audio files(tfa) and PureXaudio 4.0

When I first got my Chromecast, I was able to play a video (on hulu for example) in fullscreen mode, then alt tab back to Chrome so I could still use my laptop while casting to the TV in full screen.
In the past week, it no longer works. When I alt tab, it automatically goes out of full screen mode. So now I have to have my laptop playing the video in fullscreen if I want to cast it in fullscreen to the TV.
I can't find anything in my searches about this happening to anyone else when I google the problem. Has anyone else run across this issue?
Thanks

My guess is this is related to the Flash Player or the player on the site that you are using. I have seen this happen on my two monitor setup where when I go to the second screen it breaks out of full screen mode on the first monitor. I'm pretty sure all i had to do was restart my machine. But I would try reinstalling Flash, clearing cache, cookies, etc.
Do you see the same behavior when you are not using Chromecast?
Good luck.

It happens with any video, whether casting or not. I used to be able to watch Hulu.com in fullscreen and cast it to the tv, then I could alt tab to another tab to check FB or something. Now it doesn't work. I've tried hulu, youtube, and some other video sites and they all the the same thing. When you hit Alt they immediately go back to the small screen page. I've rebooted my computer and reinstalled the Cast extension. Wondering if I need to reinstall Chrome. It did crash one me a few times this weekend, though not in the past couple of days.

I have had a similar issue. I received mine on Tuesday and the first day full screen worked for espn and I was able to Alt+Tab to continue browsing. Last night, I tried to do the same thing but It would only display a picture of the tab with the embedded video (when I would go to full screen, the embedded video was black with the tab content around it. when I would exit full screen the embedded video began playing again.) Essentially, I can no longer go into full screen mode for any flash based video (tried with NFL network too). Mine did an update first thing when I turned it on yesterday. I didn't write down the original version I had nor what it updated to. My flash player also updated recently but I think that was before I tried it for the first time. I did not try to reboot my machine or reinstall flash / chrome but I did attempt to do it from 2 different computers on my network and both suffered from the same issue.

I found a post on another forum that helped me resolve the issue. In your google chrome browser (assuming that's what you are using), type in about://plugins. Click on the Details icon (+) on the far right of the Plugins title bar. Look for Adobe flash and you probably have 2 plugins listed. Look for pepflashplayer.dll . It should be listed in the location section. Click on disable. You may need to restart the browser. Try your fullscreen again.
That fixed it for me, so I hope it fixes it for you.
I just found a pretty neat trick to do fullscreen.
Install the "Chrome Toolbox" which allows you to open flash videos by themselves, separate from anything else on that webpage.
Go to the page with the flash video you are playing. Cast that tab. Hover over the video and an icon will appear to allow you to put it on its own window. Chromecast will now only show the video, same as if you went fullscreen. Video quality seems better when the window is not minimized.

Hi guys!
Any chance of a link to the Chrome Toolbox in the app store? The one I'm looking at is probably not the one I'm looking for.
BTW, Alt-Tab is working for me, but the full-screen video is playing in the background so I can see it in place of the Windows taskbar. I can move about the desktop though

Unfortunately Chrome Toolbox doesn't work on Windows 8? And isn't available anymore anyway?
This is really annoying. Just got Chromecast.
But when casting a tab of full screen video on certain websites and I move from the tab it reverts to its original frame.
Basically I just want to be able to play full screen content from sites like BBC's iPlayer while doing other things on the computer.
Fiddling with flash plugins doesn't seem to change it. I looked for other possibly relevant extensions in the web store but none really worked.
This seems to me a fundamental but should be pretty simple problem for Google to fix.
Any other ideas now?
Thanks, Tom

It seems to depend on how the player achieves full-screen. Some sites have a full-screen option from the browser level, and that seems to behave differently (also sometimes different resolution) than using the full-screen/zoom option in the player.
Good example is www.BabyFirstTV.com
The blue-background full-screen button just full-screens the video in the tab and shows the Exit Fullscreen button when casted.
The full-screen button in the player window (bottom right corner) make the video full-desktop size (and replaces my desktop background), and doesn't show the (annoying) Exit Fullscreen button. The bottom does get cut off, likely because my desktop is 1920x1200 so I'm losing the bottom 180 pixels.
For me at least, either method allows me to Alt-Tab to another application without messing up the Chromecast playback though.

Can you try it on www.babyfirsttv.com ? I'm guessing any browser/tab-level zoom will depend on how the site is coded.

Yeah, if it takes up just the tab it's ok, but when going completely full screen it doesn't stay like that if I move... And unfortunately many sites with video, like the ones I want to use, only have that option.
