To downgrade to v7 look at my thread in the development section. It says how to

Maybe a stupid question, but if I am running Gingervolt 1.3, can I just flash this directly over it? Don't really mind if I lose root.

Thanks. Am I right in assuming I will lose all of my apps? If so I can just back then up I guess.

Thank you very much for that. The step by step guide there will help a lot! But I do have 1 small issue, the files you linked in your tutorial dont seem to work as i am using a mac. Is there any way to get these for a mac?

POINTLESS
So, Do I understand correctly? That thread is now titled "pointless" and after reading the posts there it would seem that there is now a root for zv8, is that correct? If I am correct can you please direct me to how and where to get it? I would really appreciate it, thank you very much in advance.

This is not a development question, can we please move this to Q&A or General?
Also, in case it wasn't already clear:
YOU CAN NOT UPDATE 1.52 TO 1.57. PERIOD.
Someone might at some point pull out the parts of the update and roll it into something you can flash over anything, but I highly doubt it as it's a pain in the ass and doesn't offer much benefit. Just backup your system with TiBu and flash back to 1.2.6, follow the proper procedure, and restore your backup (NOT system apps though). Not really all that hard.

Hopefully this means that Cubed will finally be able to get his hands on gingerbread files for the CM7 port. Got my fingers crossed!
I think LG and Verizon just need to get that gingerbread to us. Don't just put out the esteem which is basically a replica and then make us wait.
Where are the roms for the esteem?

any updates??
new to all this, but figured out how to get a horizontal desktop using a home launcher. interested in taking it all a step further, but leaving it in more able hands, now that you have the hardware specs, how do you go about flashing the kernel? do you develop an apk file for the phone? or an executive for a desktop and flash pre-boot via USB?

I would be happy to port GingerVolt over to the Esteem, but you will need a recovery first and I am not the guy for that I may look into it however just to be sure lol.

I am fat and I like chips.... I was excited for a moment, but then I realized that those chips aren't salty and there are not enough of them crammed in the phone to bother with... it would be like eating the little chip crumbs at the bottom of the bag...

First page of the development section, about 15 threads down (stock rooted Gingerbread):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1348637
Flash that, then unroot. Or you can use LGPNST to flash the V7 Gingerbread .tot file. Either way will get you back to stock Gingerbread.
I just used this method and didn't have any issues at all getting back to stock, and I was then able to install the ZV8 update as well.
This may be a dumb question, but if I use the one click root/unroot to unroot my phone for this update, do I need to worry about clearing the caches and removing the rom and theme first or can I just run the unroot.bat file and be good to go?
Anyone have an answer please?

You first need to flash the stock rom, then you can click unroot.
You don't have to clear your cache and previous data but it's recommended.

It's not that he's unhelpful, it's just that there are so many people who want everything done for them. Gets annoying after a while. This information has been covered ad nauseum.

Lots of n00bs who want to be spoon fed. Instead of reading the forum and finding the info. This question has been answered in at least 5 post.
