I am not sure if there is a thread about a resolution to the lack of customization of the icons on the stock lock screen but i figured it out for myself and decided to share with everyone
so all the lock screen shortcuts are are the applications that you have in you dock, simple as that!!! it would have been nice if they told us about it in the first place but i just put 2 and 2 together and BAM there it was
hope this help

if you want even more customization then you should look into widgetlocker.
I have both. But I thought I'd put this out there anyways

LauncherPro, Minimalistic text for clock and date, Simiclock for the weather.
Playing around with no status bar on the home screen.
* Took me an hour to configure those widgets just like that lol
* I think the CPU% display might gobble battery so I need to keep an eye on that
* ^ symbols in the dock are to symbolise swipe gestures in LauncherPro so I don't forget they're there...
* I need to start hunting for some more sympathetic app icons

I had an idea on how to do a "true" honeycomb lockscreen. At http://j.mp/dXw49d (XDA forum) you must drag down to unlock. What about making the gesture "trail" the honeycomb unlock icon and then creating gestures for every direction? What I mean is making everything gone (hide unlock slider) then making the gesture trails look like the unlock icon. Then after creating the gestures in every direction then dragging the dot anywhere you can unlock. Also maybe restrict the starting point for the gestures to where the icon is. I can give you screenshots to show you what I mean.
Do you think it would work?
I think it's a good idea!
It will be comfortable to use it and it looks nice.

holy crap that's awesome. Also probably easily feasible. I unfortunately lack the ability to make this but i might shoot it over to a couple of devs and see who wants to work on this.

There are alternate home launchers available. Search the market for LauncherPro, ADW, or GoLauncher. There are tons more out there but those 3 are the big ones.
They allow you to theme your phone a little more, change icons, some come with custom Widgets.
And yes certain apps come with Widgets you can add to your screens too.

Only thing off on my incredible is that it cuts off last letter of city. Otherwise looks nice. Not huge fan of the full screen weather but looks nice.any way to disable it and use own wallpaper?
If you like my work or I helped you, hit the thanks button. :0]
Its shows only texts on left and right at the bottom of the screen, no 'HD weather' as screenshots on the 1st post. Not even an intruction or guide though. Anybody get it to work? Would mind to share some guide please.
Thanks
If you want weather on this lockscreen, you need to install "Genie Widget" and set your location in the app
to get weather working flash google apps package for cm7 first
then you will get app news and weather
use that enter your location and you are good to go

This actually works very well. as the person presented it in the original post picture.
I know the LEphone theme was not how it was meant to be from the picture, but least he/she pulled though on this one.
Here at XDA we meant to encourage developers not present them with sarcasm and push people away
Great lockscreen
tHANKS A lOT FOR THE SUPPORT TOWARDS THIS LSCREEN.
To use a different wallpaper, choose from settings menu, wallpaer....Lock screen wallpaper, and select any of them.
It will give you a warning that Lock screen wallpaper cant be set, but thats okay.
When you lock your screen, and press Home button, you will see your own wallpaper on the Lock screen.
However the Lock screen wallpaper if dark looks good on this custom made Lock screen and not with a light colour as the date and time are in Silver Colour.
Thanks and yes Genie Widget applies well to this LS.
Thanks
