[Q] Problem with large movies... pls help

Hi everybody,
today i want to get a movie (5,5 GB .mkv file) into my SGS and when i will travel i will be watch it but i have a problem. my phone write me that it cant copy this file into phone. i have free space... where is a problem ? thx
video file size > 4gigs = will not fit on external sd card formatted with fat32
As to how to get to see it on a linux based phone - you will need a linux person to tell you how to setup your sd card so that you can copy large files to it. It might not work in windows after that...
If it was a windows phone you'd format it in ntfs - but I dont think our phones will be happy with that format of card...
Linux peoples - how would this guy get a mem card to format up to take a > 4 gig file on it?
Can it be done easily? What restrictions would there be?
download a tool called 'paragon partition manager'
excellent tool for creating / formatting partitions to operate on linux systems, as well as windows.
ok thanks, but i have in my phone 2 GB microSD card. i want copy into phone's sdcard. so it mean that i should buy larger microsd card
Fastest and simplest way is to cut your movies into parts under 4Gb. This way you don't need to buy a new card or format a current card.
Could he not use GParted and format the card as ext4?

[Q] micro SD card exfat

Hello guys!
I have 16GB micro SD card and I can't put a movie larger than 4 GB.
my card is formatted as fat32, but I've managed to install paragon+ and mount ntfs card but I still can't copy file larger than 4GB.
Or to be more precise, I can save file via PC on SD card, but all applications don't recognize file.
I have tried with both 4.1.1 and 4.1.2
Does anyone know how to solve this?
paragon didn't mount exfat.

It's an android limitation. Android has not NTFS support out of the box. I was sure it supported exFAT (our big brother does AFAIK) but after formatting my 16 GB class 10 SDcard my phone didn't recognize it anymore So, FAT32 and no 4GB+ files
However there's a good chance CyanogenMod supports these file systems (at least exFAT) out of the box

Get a live USB stick for any Linux distro and try saving it that way.
AW: [Q] micro SD card exfat
It should be possible to reformat the card as ext2/3/4. Android would support it natively. The only issue would be for Windows users to install a kind of driver to use it.

I've solved it.
I've formatted 16 GB SD drive half as fat32 and half as ext4, and then i've made a script to mount ext4 to /mnt/storage3 folder.
Now I can dowbload torrents larger than 4GB.
@oskreso, can you share the script?

format using exfat(windows) , or ext4(linux). fat32 cannot transfer file more than 3GB. since kowalski kernel already support exfat and ext4 already support in cm10.1 by tonyp

Hi there.
After you make your SD card as adoptable storage, you have to go back to the Storage options and choose Move Data.
This will transfer all possible data from original internal phone storage to the new internal SD card storage.
Also have a good look at this awesome adoptable storage tool which enables you to create 2 partitions on the SD card, one for adoptable internal storage and the other partition for normal SD external storage allowing you as normal to use it to store music, pictures, videos, etc.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/auto-formatting-sdcard-to-internal-t3583875/page23
Alternatively if you are a root user, have a look at this amazing app which will allow you to link nearly all apps to your SD card and therefore free up most of your internal phone storage.
I personally bought the Pro version from Google Play because it is that good!

Enjoy!

If you have rooted phone you could partition your sd-card to ext4 and fat32(this partition works as normal memory card).
Then you could download app like Apps2sd or link2sd and link(move) apps into the ext4 partition of the sd-card.

Download Apps2sd https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=in.co.pricealert.apps2sd&hl=en
1. select link apps
2. Create mount script
3. Reboot
4. Link apps to sd card
Also 30GB is probably way more than you would need. Probably 2-10GB would be enough.
ok so it is better to use 10 gb for the ext4 ?
i have some question only one partition will be shown in the settings is it right ? alsow i have some trouble how i formate correc.t i have usen mini partition have made partition with fat32 and one with ext4
but when i look at apps2sd formating tool there will be 3 partitions created. one partition have name SWAP Partition. Do i need this ?
and is this tool : https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/auto-formatting-sdcard-to-internal-t3583875/page23
agood way to formate ? or is my way with mini partition manager alsow good ?
and with mini partiton manager i made all partitions as primary is it okay ?
i have used this tool https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/auto-formatting-sdcard-to-internal-t3583875 then 2 partitions will be shown but not with the correct size ii habe a 64 gb sd card but my smartphone shows 40 gb and 35 gb Oo
