So I reworked the default ICS bootanimation. I always found it really washed out and just seemed to me like a recording of the actual animation. So I decided to up the contrast and vibrance of it.
Here's the comparison video, you'll want to try and view it in 720p to notice the difference easily.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zgGKqGLiPmk
I'll probably add gif previews soon.
To install, you'll want to move "bootanimation.zip" that you have downloaded to:
Code:
/system/media/
>Download<
Hey, if you like it, throw me a thanks
I love this animation and have used it as my most common boot animation since it was first leaked, however you're reworked versions doesn't seem to work on my Droid X2. Is the resolution too high for me to use it, maybe?
There was a problem with the zip compression that meant some devices couldn't get it working. It's been fixed now.
Works great now. Love the more vivid colors!!!
Contrast and vibrance really nice! Love it
Greeting with Galaxy Note N7000
Unfortunately, this Note booting so fast that I can enjoy only couple of second. Will try later at night for my Tab 7.7

Thanks! Looks great on my GNexus. I thought the same thing when i first saw the animation live on my phone - I didn't think to modify it, so I'm a little mad that I should have.
Can the .png's resized and used on a HVGA Screen?

Hello all,
Attached to this post is an updated version of the BIOS boot animation for your shiny Desire HDs I don't own one myself (just yet at least!), but I was making one for LeeDrOiD's ROMs, and thought it would be good to create a generic one if you are using a different Custom ROM.
This is based off of the original creative/design of frysee! Thanks to him for allowing me to mod this boot animation for the DHD!
I have tested this on my Classic Desire and it seems to work great, so if anyone runs into any issues, please let me know in this thread.
Some things you should note:
bootanimation.zip is within the scar45-desireHD-bios-bootanimation.zip
android_audio.mp3 is also included, which is start up sounds from an old PC
You should be able to replace the originals, either by replacing them in the .zip before flashing, or using S-OFF (or recovery) to replace them after.
Most common path for these 2 files is /system/customize/resource
Previews below were mangled by the forum upload process, but they're perfectly crisp 480 x 800 PNGs within the .zip
Note that this did take me a good while (editing 92 .PNGs), since I couldn't use the classic Desire BIOS generator to make the specs change to the Desire HD, so any donations are greatly appreciated, especially if you get a kick out of this boot animation!
Oh, and if you want to include this boot animation on your website/ROM/etc., just send me a PM first...thanks!
Hope you enjoy!

Hi goran, I don't have a Desire HD myself, but I believe you should look in /data/local to see if the original .zip file is there. If so, simply replace it (you'll need S-OFF, or do it via Recovery using ADB).
Do NOT try and flash the .zip that you downloaded (scar45-desireHD-bios-bootanimation.zip) as it contains another .zip file within, namely 'bootanimation.zip' which is the one that you should replace. Neither .zip files are actually flashable, so you'll probably just get an error if you attempt to. With the provided .zip package that I've attached to this post, you should be able to Google and find the answers as to how to replace it if you're still having difficulties.
Thanks for your interest in this too!
It's quite funky. I had a little chuckle when I saw that apparently the HTC Ace has an i440BX motherboard in it though

hey guys, i tried changing bootanimation exactly like in the steps on first thread, first i tried to copy bootanimation.zip to syste/media/ and it said u cannot paste here because the file system is read only ,so i went to data/local/ and pasted there ,rebooted, no new bootanimation , i then went back to system/media and changed mount r/o to mount r/w and it pasted rebooted and no new bootanimation
i had been using custom roms but restored nand backup hoping to get my apps back , they came back but my original rom as well
does this method only work on custom roms?
I also checked the site you refer to for more help but didnt really understand how to do that
any help much appreciated thanks

In the stock rom the Ideos checks the cust partition for boot animation. You'll need a custom rom to push the animation to system/media

It's time to show off your bootanimation to your friends and make them jealous of your android phone. May be it's just me; I haven't seen any horizontal bootanimation so far. Why should we have a small animation and ignore the rest of the screen?!
No matter what size screen you have, the NeoGlass bootanimation can fit it perfectly and it doesn't lose quality. I have highly optimized the images and made the animation as smooth as possible. I hope you guys experience the same thing.

Note: There are so many phones out there so I can't put a link for each one. But, you can download the bootanimation.zip file and the desc.txt file. For most of you guys the animation should work without any issues. If you feel different size would be better do this:
(Skip this part if you like the size of the bootanimation)
-Open attached desc.txt file and just modify the the resolution values based on your device screen size (Nexus one values are 480x800 (width x height). For example, if your resolution values are 300x700, your txt file should look like this in the first line:
300 700 24
-Save the file. Use winrar, 7zip, bettezip, etc to open your bootanimation in archive form (do not extract it) and drag the modified txt file and update the zip files. DONE! You optimized the file for your device.

what Operating sys are you using? What zip program do have?
Two reasons didn't work out for you. Your zip program didn't update correctly and you compressed the file. You should store the zip file (Zero compression). Otherwise you get blank screen.
Second reason: You file was not replaced, backup ur original animation and delete it. Wipe cache and dalvik and then push or flash the new one.

it's a bug in theme manager, I have the same issue sometimes when I apply anything. Miui Gingerbread is kind of buggy.
You can try this: Go to sdcard/Miui/theme folder, choose a working theme (make a backup of it somewhere else on you device or computer first) extract the mtz file you downloaded (winrar, betterzip...) and find bootanimation.zip in "boots" folder.
Now open your working theme file you backed up. Open it in archive form and drag my bootanimatio.zip to boots folder and update. Once ready, import it with theme manager (you should see the theme name twice since you installed it before so try both to see which one is the new one ).
Hope this helps

I used WinZip. I highlighted all my files(pictures tthat are in the two different folders you're using to store photos ,and desc.txt file- right click and choose: add to archive and make sure the setting is set to 'store'.
I used 256 x 256 (PNG FILES) The same dimensions as the animation in Cyanogen Mod. My current project uses a different resolution than my current.
When you play the YouTube video, you will see an annotation that leads you to my newest boot animation, that is the video sshowing the boot animation running at different res.
Download my ananimation and extract the files to you desktop. Take the desc file and the names of the folders, and put them on your desktop. The desc.txt file will have your settings and you can just change them.accordingly to your devices dimensions or FPS you want your animation to run at.
Did this help?

When zipping your material, do you make sure the compression method on the bottom left hand corner is set to STORE?
Likey
Nice job! Another reason I need to figure out how to root my droidx. Lost root since gingerbread and have not found easy way to get it back.
Nice!

This may not be the best looking boot animation, as it's just a combination from the teaser trailer on YouTube.
It's looped and will just replay. This is my first boot animation....first of anything in this sorts. Going to do a complete overhaul this week of it, so please refrain from flaming this noob . In Xbox terms...I'm a scrub
Here is the video I made of it as a preview:
Download Link: http://www.mediafire.com/?oudaa6nmcjbaloy (15MB) I know...it's HUGE.
Instructions:
-Backup current bootanimation.zip to bootanimation.zip.bak
-Download and copy the MW3 boot animation and paste it to system/media and change permissions
-Reboot
Another GREAT boot animation, but for the wildfire can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1006336 It's sick.
**Splash screen was made by Tribalartgod and can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1059520

can this be flashed on a EVO 3D?
Yes. depending on the dimensions of your phones screen, you wont have a problem.
rename your current bootanimation.zip to bootanimation.zip.Bak..
Flash my boot ani and test it. If not, you'll still have the stock bootani.
Or you simply put tthe bootani in system/data where your initial boot animation was/is.
