Launcher pro plus restarts after i done playing games !!!

Why does my launcher pro plus v0.8.3 often restarts after i done playing a game ???? It happened lately after i moved some apps into my sd card...it really annoys me when i want to change to another game, making me wait for the apps to load...and adding to the ignorance is the apps in the sd card will take about a minute or 2 to finish loading...Any ideas to how to solve this problem ??? Your help is highly appreciated !!!!

It's not so much of a problem, as it is a feature, of Android itself. It's called Memory Management! And if your game is using a lot of RAM, it is bound to terminate some background applications, in this case, your third party launcher. It might help though, if your launcher app is NOT on sdcard. Also, ensure it is the primary launcher. Beyond that, we can't really mod our phone for more RAM But we can give CM7 a shot...

aww mannn...that sucks...thanks for the info...another question i would like to ask if u done mind...its about the apps on sd card coming out slowly in the apps drawer...is there anyway to speed it up ?? Thank u very much ~

hmm....after hearing ur advice...i went n find some other launchers and i stumbled on to "Zeam" which i believe is a light-weight launcher...but the "problem" still remains the same...issit because i got too much apps installed???

On ADW launcher u have the ability to keep it running all the time. Just by turning on the option System Persistent under General Behavior-->System Settings that would avoid the launcher from closing

It's not about how many apps you have installed. It's more about how many apps are actively running background services...

I have my Advance Task Killer on with frequent n aggressive kill all the time...but anyhow it doesnt matter now....i found a website that resolved the problem..although it still closes some time...

Close Running Apps

Does anyone know a good app paid/free that shuts all running application's down like the feature in go launcher (Picture Attached)... am looking at testing new launchers but i really like this feature

systempanel has a widget that you can add to your homescreen that will end all app processes, but it doesn't show all the info like in your screen shot, it just has a little x, or a stop sign or whatever you choose. but it does work well, i normally advise against task killers, but this one is good to free up a bunch of ram with one touch.

Thanks fella its works perfect no more worrying about changing launcher's now

you can also try Active apps, which was taken from SAMSUNG
i like that one

Best one I've used is Advanced Task Killer Pro. It has many great features and can be access via pull down notification menu.
Whenever I need more ram or just fancy freeing it up I use it. I also have it set to kill apps upon screen off.

advance task killer pro or anything like it just free's up foreground space so there's MORE SPACE for background apps to run,hence less memory & less speed,GOOGLE IT FOR URSELF

RAM problem!

hello everyone...i don't know why i always find my ram nearly full
about 90mb free sometimes 31mb!
i don't have much apps and no i dont minimize them
only apps in background are mail, update, music,...stock things
am running 2.3.4 gingerbread
20n
any suggestions on how to improve or something like this?

Try and use the v6 supercharger script which is posted on xda it works wonders on memory management and I do mean wonders. Ill try dig link out soon

I use both Autorun Manager and Startup Manager. May be first is enough but just to be sure... I use Go lanucher fx and its plug-ins, ram eatin monster SBP 3D shell (uses 50 mb ram) all at once, but still get 70-80 mb ram. If you use i am certain you'll get at least 150 mb.
But first of all your phone must be rooted. As always... And you should remove every unnecessary program. Like out Turkish stock rom.. Full of crappy programs. They made a root for V20b and V20n. I hope someone would make for our V20a too. And we can update to 2.3 too. I am certain Autorun manager will do the trick for you. It prevents programs to start all over again when you kill them. Cheers.

[Q] Is Miui inherently unstable?

Every Miui rom I have tried on my many U9000-81 cincinnati bell phones has done this, When the browser or any app stalls, the phone will reboot. Is this a memory overflow causing this? Is it inherent in the phone? I am not a rom developer but this is the reason that I don't like the Miui Rom. First and foremost the phone should be stable. Sorry for the rant.

memmory is great issue with MIUI, many time its own lauuncher got freez because of memmory issue .... using different launcher over MIUI to overcome memmory isuue...

My phone rarely reboots on MIUI and I'm using go launcher and many background apps are also running, I'd suggest you try V6 by zeppelinrox

My phone always has more then 150mb free ram and find no reboot so far. Can you give me some tips to try to make miui reboot or some app names to try the stability?

CK what you use to make free 150 + ram for all time, Now I am using ADW launcher to counter memory problem but not that successful
@paarkhi was using V6 supercharger on RC2 after that forget to use it again ... run it again to check the results ....

V6 rejuvenates the phone in my case, can't say about others

I tried to avoid widgets in each desktop. Widgets will take more cpu and ram for them to work for background and foreground process.
I'm not using any additional tweak other than default rom tweak. I'm using ssLauncher and no widget in every desktop, that's make always 150+ free ram. This launcher is more smooth and light than miui default launcher and quite beautiful even without widget. Maybe not everyone comfortable with this launcher but this is what I looked for from long time ago, paper curl effect desktop change.

For More free RAM, you Guy's should try "RAM Manager" App. you can easily get more than +200 free MB of RAM. Max i got was around 260MB on my CM7.2, I have screen on my phone, i can't show you guy's because my Phone is stolen

Well unless an app like firefox has a memory leak there should be no issue with memory. And if it does have a memory leak bad enough to crash the OS, a memory manager will not have enough ram to run under that circumstance either. But why don't I have an issue like that with Cyanogenmod?

You remind me with firefox. I stop using firefox several months ago because of memory leak of this app, make the OS reboot even I regularly update the app, but not remember what rom I was used. Since that time I never use firefox again, opera mobile take the place.
Normally the ram manager should not crash even with the memory leak of some apps, it should kill them when the memory reach the minimum free size limitation as we configure in minfree. From what you said, may be the configuration of this minfree will help the memory manager to breath a little deeper.
I think we should give this four values not to low in minfree:
- FOREGROUND_APP
- VISIBLE_APP
- SECONDARY_SERVER
- EMPTY_APP
But will decrease the chance to switch to other task, it will start over from the beginning for some apps.
Well... that what I thought.
I've to consider this for my future rom ports. But I hasn't found this issue in my current rom. I 'll try to install firefox and open many site on tabs.
Edited: Confirmed.... after using firefox with several webs on tabs opened, it got rebooted. But no reboot if using opera mobile.

Makes sense. I read above that someone tries to keep 150 mb free and I have 771 mb free with my CM7 rom that I am using. Lots of free memory available.

Our device ram only has 512mb. I think that was not free ram, that must be free internal nvm memory . I have 630mb free internal memory.

Ram and internal memory is different, what you are saying is internal memory and as CK said we only have 512mb but 352 mb shown

OK So right now my phone has 104 avail out of 351. One tab opened in firefox now 97/351 5 tabs 102/351 6 tabs 98/351. Not seeing that Firefox is causing problems with CM7. This only happens with Miui as far as I can tell.

Is the problem With Firefox or Miui? Do other programs cause the same problem with Miui? Not Opera obviously. I personally love the look of Miui but reliability is key with me. I hate reboot problems.

Problem is with launcher of MIUI, its really a RAM eater ......
over MIUI you can try other launcher and will see the difference
was using AWD an go on MIUI from some days really want to say never rebooted from then......
Also constantly getting RAM above 150 MB ....
AWD is preferred choice to get more while go with lots of customization option.
Also try V6 supercharger ....

I need an application that block apps from starting on their own
I found one for controling which app should start on boot but I need another to control them after that

But the problem is that i need this apps but i just want them to start whenever i want not whenever they wont
I cant freez fb because the synced contacts will be gone
And sure thing I wont be using task killer

open the app once..go in settings force close it.. it wont start again till you connect internet..

I use ES task killer , mainly reason is to clean cache fast.And delete facebook app is like twilight for your phone.

Alternatively you can enjoy ur facebook through any good browser like one browser and manage ur ram with ram manager pro.

Android Doesn’t Manage Processes Like Windows
Most Android users are familiar with Windows. On Windows, many programs running at one time – whether they’re windows on your desktop or applications in your system tray – can decrease your computer’s performance. Closing applications when you’re not using them can help speed up your Windows computer.
However, Android isn’t Windows and doesn’t manage processes like Windows does. Unlike on Windows, where there’s an obvious way to close applications, there’s no obvious way to “close” an Android application. This is by design and isn’t a problem. When you leave an Android app, going back to your home screen or switching to another app, the app stays “running” in the background. In most cases, the app will be paused in the background, taking up no CPU or network resources. Some apps will continue using CPU and network resources in the background, of course – for example, music players, file-downloading programs, or apps that sync in the background.
When you go back to an app you were recently using, Android “unpauses” that app and you resume where you left off. This is fast because the app is still stored in your RAM and ready to be used again.
Why Task Killers Are Bad
Proponents of task killers notice that Android is using a lot of RAM – in fact, Android stores a lot of apps in its memory, filling up the RAM! However, that isn’t a bad thing. Apps stored in your RAM can be quickly switched to without Android having to load them from its slower storage.
In summary, you shouldn’t use a task killer – if you have a misbehaving app wasting resources in the background, you should identify it and uninstall it. But don’t just remove apps from your phone or tablet’s RAM – that doesn’t help speed anything up.
Empty RAM is useless. Full RAM is RAM that is being put to good use for caching apps. If Android needs more memory, it will force-quit an app that you haven’t used in a while – this all happens automatically, without installing any task killers.
Task killers think they know better than Android. They run in the background, automatically quitting apps and removing them from Android’s memory. They may also allow you to force-quit apps on your own, but you shouldn’t have to do this.
Task killers aren’t just useless – they can reduce performance. If a task killer removes an app from your RAM and you open that app again, the app will be slower to load as Android is forced to load it from your device’s storage. This will also use more battery power than if you just left the app in your RAM in the first place. Some apps will automatically restart after the task killer quits them, using more CPU and battery resources.
Whether RAM is empty or full, it takes the same amount of battery power – decreasing the amount of apps stored in RAM won’t improve your battery power or offer more CPU cycles.

go into settings - apps and see how many running apps you have. now go to cached apps and see there, how many apps there are. you see? nearly 50% of those apps discovered by you in the processes are apps that you didn't opened ever but they are still opened and running. why? because that's how linux manages its resources. instead of having free ram for no use (what's the point of having 14gb of ram when you only use 1gb), linux fills all the ram blocks with useful apps or apps that you are running frequently so that when you call that app, it will bring it on the screen almost instantly. this my friend, is called multitasking.
and no, you are wrong. if you use a task killer killing the apps every 10 minutes, the cycles the whole system does - opening again apps and caching them, task killer closing them - results in much more functions done by CPU => more battery spent. even if you say that the battery life its the same, you are wrong. when using a task killer IT MIGHT drain your battery with 0.1% per hour. it's not that much, but IT EXIST.
oh and yeah, one thing: android has its own task killer. that's why you don't need one app to kill your other apps. because android its doing it by itself. if you don't believe me, strip down one kernel, open the init.rc file and find the values for task killer.

I don't know if this is helpful or not but I'm trying to help you. I don't recommend you to use an application to block apps from starting on their own because it will ruin how Android managed it memory consumption. Since you've talked that Facebook app takes about 50MB of RAM I recommend you to use this instead of Facebook official app.
