Rooting - Which tutorial actually works for me?

Hi,
I really need to root my german HTC Dream. I spent quite some time searching for tutorials but none of them seemed to work for me. Can anybody tell me if it is possible at all? There are so many out-dated articles out there.

Does anyone know whether the HTC Legend AU can be rooted. Thats my biggest concern.

[Q] Is My Milestone APAC or EMEA?

Hello,
I'm little confused...
I've purchased my Milestone in December 2010 from India. So should it be APAC or EMEA?
Tottally Stock ROM, not yet rooted, the Settings says following:
Firmware version: 2.1-update1
Firmware configuration version: GAS_EMEA_USAHLS00RTINT_P016
Baseband version: 3GSMEPU91A_U_91.07.56I
Baseband configuration version: UCASHLSMR2EMEAB1806D.0R

Can someone please guide me?
Update: It has got MotoNav software with maps of India preinstalled. So I think it should be APAC, but the versions shows "EMEA" so I'm confused.

Software Change

I would like some help on the following:
On my older HTC One I have the following:
Android version: 4.4.2
HTC Sense version: 6.0
Software number: 5.13.599.101
On my HTC One AT&T I have following:
Android version: 4.1.2
HTC Sense version: 5.0
Software number: 1.26.502.12
Since I am not in USA and not using AT&T network, I find myself unable to upgrade the software.
Is there a way of getting rid of the AT&T software version and getting the normal HTC software version?
