This seems to have started after I soft bricked my phone trying to do a complete wipe. I used the one click unbrick to fix the issue.
Now in 3 different rooms I am having issues with setting not doing anything. The 1st one I noticed was USB debug, it shows it being turned on but adb says device not found. In Slim ICS the notification that it was on popped up.
At this point I tried clearing cache and davik, I also did a format of system, data, cache, and datadata but still have the issue. In fact now I am having it with other settings such as screen rotate.
The only roms I have tried are ics, should I try gb? Any other suggestions? In case it helps I have tried Slim ICS 4, Doc v5 and v6, and dark knight 4.
Thanks for any help

you should have read about ICS.. the captivate ICS roms use different drivers. that is why your computer dosesnt see it.

done.
I that that may have been the issue, but that doesn't explain the screen estate button. Also now after my cache clear and flash this morning the lock screen settings aren't working and my home button stopped working.
Thanks

home button not working?? what rom are you on? i9000 based roms have a homebutton fix, but that wouldnt be affected by cache/delvik.
when in doubt flash something else.
Is there somewhere I can download the ICS drivers? Windows isn't automatically finding the new drivers.
Nevermind did a quick google and found my problem.
Thanks for your help

Yesterday i started KIES and found out that there was an update available but i did not have enough time to update it so i cancelled the procedure. Now today i started KIES again again and it says that i already have the latest firmware. I am using Froyo XXJPY with Seed Mod Kernel K13C and Lag Fix enabled.
Can anyone guide me in this problem?
Seems that firmware was retired 'cause it has some bugs.
User are getting overexcited and Samsung have pulled 2.3 .

Ok. Thanks a lot for your replies. I was thinking that there might be something wrong with my handset. Does this have to do something with Apple lawsuit.
Also kindly let me know which one was the pulled version so that I can flash it through Odin.

I updated over the weekend to 2.3.3 and after an initial problem with the notification bar FC on start up, (fixed it with a cache wipe and data wipe from the three button boot loader menu) everything seems fine.
Was I just lucky or unlucky to get this update.
I'm on O2 UK but I had flashed 2.2.1 from samfirmware.com with odin.
It was a pre-mature push, and I don't think they will going to launch it before lauch of SGS 2, let's wait when they roll it again :-(
The answer is provide that Google had some issues with the update and got it pulled.

Hi Everyone.
Today I updated stock KKA to stock LC1 using Settings->About phone->software update.
Everything went well but after every reboot and sync with Kies this message pops up :

Anyone knows how to get rid of that, because it's kinda annoying
Switch off device
Then press volume up + home +power
As screen display start, release power button, but keep pressing rest two.
When enter into recovery
Select (with vol up n down) wipe cache
Press hone to enter choice
Reboot recovery
Hope it will remove your problem.

You still have stock recovery even if you are unrooted. Do as Dr Ketan has told you and wipe cache.
after wiping cache it says:
It means update was not successful, May be this msg not appear on next boot.
Try again with OTA, if it dont show update, Connect to kies and update it.
The installation was actually succesfull. I don't know why the message was poping-up. However, after checking for update via settings the problem is gone.
Thank you guys for your help

Why should something to convert? MIUI exelent flasher from rooted GB 2.3.6
What? I didnt get you?
I didn't converted I just installed this apk to check system details and I was having force closes on every app I tried cwm and cleaned cache and dakvik cache but it wasn't working. Can anyone tell why MIUI has force close issue? It start giving fc any time.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk 2
Yes it is normal. MIUI is based off Cyanogen mod which uses it's own file system (that yaffs you see there).
As far as i know you can't really convert yaffs to rfs nor there should be a need to do so. If you want to go back to a samsung based rom, all you need to do is flash one with odin by ticking the repartition option. Odin will restore samsung's partitions with their own file systems (RFS), no need to worry.
Just look up and follow a tutorial to do so, there are plenty about.
EDIT:
Just seen your latest post, search a bit dude, there are LOADS of posts around describing the force-close issue with cyanogen/miui roms. Solution is fast, simple and without loss of data, there is no need to return back to anything if that's the problem. To put it simple, one of your partitions (data) just ran out of space regardless of what that app says.
Okay! Am i really the only one with the none working home button???
At a random moment all my Settings (screen timeout, display brightness, etc...) are reseted, my home button wont work anymore and the Power Menu looks like this.

Now it happened the 5th time. 3 times at V28a and 2 times at V28c.
I flash the ROM with smartflash, make my settings, install my apps (3 Times with Titanium Backup)
But Titanium seems not the Problem. It happened even if i install my apps via PlayStore.
Have anyone a idea why this happens?
i met this problem once.
Eventually i tried to factory reset the phone, and the problem was gone..

What is firmware 3? ... Have you tried doing a full wipe and clean install to see if the problem persists? You could also try flashing a different ROM and see if the problem's still there.
Make a Nandroid first and you can test it out and revert back to your current setup.

He's talking about the Gpe 4.3 hboot. So basically the latest firmware.
@OP
If you have s-off you could try downgrading your firmware and see if anything changes.

Looks like dirt on the sensor (not on the lens), so it's hardware. You'll not notice it every time, it depends on several settings such as aperture.
