Hi guyz,
I've got a.prob with my gallery app which is going serious day by day...
Let me explain with an example -
I snapped a pic A and B
Now i want to.delete A and keep B
I deleted A and now i open camera again to snap a pic C,
When i open gallery, in thumbnails, i can see pic C, but as i open it, it becomes the hi-resolution cache ofpic A(which I've deleted, but cache img persisted)
It happens now with more than 20% of my newly snapped pics,...
If i delete the /sd/android/cooliris media folder and .thumbnails folder, everypic shows up good, but after sometime, the problem bounces back :banghead::banghead:
Please someone guide me what should i do to resolve this problem...
Had it once in.my xperia Neo, but i solved it using quickpic apk which is way boring than CM gallery and can't play 1080p video

I faced the same problem some time ago... I didn't realise early that it was a thumbnail issue and I deleted some pics I wanted...
In my case I deleted cooliris media folder and every .thumbnails folder found in internal and sd.
After that all seems to be ok ...

Hi,
here is my problem:
When I take a photo, quit the Camera and open my Gallery I can't see the picture I took.
When I reboot the phone and media scan is performed I the picture appears in the Gallery.
Is this normal? Is there anything I'm doing wrong?
Thanks!
You should try to use the image review to check first

Thanks, but maybe I was not clear: how can I force the phone to put the camera pictures to the gallery immediately?
If i remember right I had to go into the dcim folder in gallery view and back to show the tumbnails ins gallery.
Anyway, with my current firmware jm7 this behavior has gone.
Tumbnails show up instantly.
Greetings

Are you using a task killer? Is it possible that you're killing something called 'media storage' or something like that?
I thought this only happened with music and videos. My pictures are added into the gallery automatically. Maybe your gallery is bugged. Try rebooting.
Edit: You could download "Rescan Media" from the market to rescan media at will. Or you could unmount then remount the storage where your media is stored.
This happens to me too; but just closing the Gallery and reopening it works for me.
Thanks for every one of you, guys! I've tried almost everything, even reboot didn't help.
But here is what solved my problem (may help somebody): I went into Menu Setting/Applications/Manage applications/Gallery and cleared its data. Since then the Gallery works fine.
I think CFLagFix 1.8 made some mix-up with the photo dates, and this caused the problem....
The firmware is: JM1/JM2
'Rescan Media' is exactly what I was looking for earlier, so I keep it anyway.
Thanks again!
is there a way to have specific folders not show up in 3d gallery
it shows every single picture on my memory card every icon or instance of one
my gallery has like 20 folders
and is lagging my 3d gallery app and deleting them messes with the app or
permanantly deletes the picture
any thoughts??
put at . in front of the folder name.
.icons
Or search your SD card and see if you can find a file called .nomedia and copy that into the directory you don't want shown
wow thank you so much 3dgallery is smokin now
there was so many stupid soundboard icons and extracted pics from bootanimations it was finding and it was taking foreverrrrrr

WOW, that's strange , cause my Aria CM6 3D Gallery doesn't find any of my .jpg and I have all my pictures in the DCIM file of my microSD.

Find the folder where the photos are saved and delete the pictures you don't want.
If you want to keep them but have them hidden put a . in front of the folder name. so it shows up as .foldername. This makes it a hidden folder and most apps will not see it or its contents.

The images may be synced from your Google Picasa account. Go to http://picasaweb.google.com/ to see if they are there.
Recently I tried to stop the gallery from scanning the media files (pictures) on storage with .nomedia.txt. It didnt seem to work so I ignored it. After a few days I found that my videos were "duplicated" At first there were two and then more and more. Everytime I scan media, more pops up. It seems these are just thumbnails that link to no where. As I have tried to play the files and it says file was not found. I have removed the .nomedia.txt file does not seem to resolve the problem.
Im on GT-i9000 Firmware 2.2 JPM baseband.
Just wanted you to know, you're not alone.
I'm on 2.2 JPD and have the exact same issue. Thumbnails for videos are massively duplicated in Gallery.
Don't really know why this happens, but I don't really use Gallery in the first place so it doesn't bother me as much since all my vids are in 1 directory and pictures in another.
No problems with picture thumbnails, just vid thumbnails.
The file you are making shouldn't be .nomedia.txt , Its .nomedia (without the .txt) Also I recommend you use Mvideoplayer to view videos as its awsome. If you are gutsy you could delete the /mnt/sd_card/.gallerycache folder.
To make that .nomedia file just make a blank file using notepad but when saving select ALL FILES in the option that says "Save file as"

Yup just video thumbnails. Anyways I decided to delete all the extra thumbnails and did a few reboot n rescan. the issue seems to have resolved itself how strange !
check this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=831042&page=6
it solved my multiple thumbnails.
I fixed mine by formatting my SD card and putting everything back in afterwards. and I deleted the thumbnail folder in DCIM.
Sony's album application does not show photos and videos from the sd card.
It did at the beginning but when i formated the sd card and re-copied some folders with photos/videos.... they dont show with "album"
Any solution? and any good alternative to "Sony Album"?
Use an album app grabber from play store, they work nicely. I have 3 different ones installed though as they some seem to be able to find better quality pics than others or those that are rarer art to find too. My favourite/main one I use is 'cover art grabber'.
FIXED!!!
Seems that clearing the application's cache through /setings/applications etc does the trick!

The same goes for Walkman app when it sometimes won't add new music from sd card.
Does not work for me . Formated my sd card and changed the folders a bit . Now the album shows those " mountain images " ( like the file was deleted or corupt ) . Cleared cache , data and forced stop twice . Still nothing . Any ideeas ?
Settings. Apps. All. Media Storage. Clear all data. Reboot. If you have root explorer open photo folder and any random pic. Open any music file. Close app and wait for a while. Hope that helps. It was a fix for HTC OneX.

I just tested on xz and it works. Best to open a picture and a music file in file explorer first to kick start it.

nope still nothing i did previously freez MHL , mirrorlink and startupflagservice with gemini AND installed rescan media root ( to disable mediaserver ) BUT i re-enabled mediaserver and uninstalled the program and did unfreeze the sistem apps . rebooted twice , unmounted sd , took photos wich are saved to internal memory , opened both pictures and music on my album\ walkman apps. still nothing... Media storage has now 608 Kb vs 604 kb ( about 1 hour ago ) vs 15 mb or so ( before clear ) . I do have root and stock firmarware. Any ideas, tips ? am i doing something wrong ?
Wheel ok... I found the problem... I had previously copied the data via a SD adapter ( much faster) and the album and Walkman could not see anything on the stick. Funny thing is that when I plugged my phone via cable with de sd inside, windows showed it empty.... Weird. Anyway, copied everything back via phone with sd inside and everything ok now! Thanks!
Hi guyz!
I have a galaxy mini (stock)
My music player app (stock) does not get auto-updated and as you may know there is no way of refreshing the list or updating it manually.
Whenever I add or delete my songs in the device the music app does not show the added ones nor remove the deleted ones :banghead: :crying:
I have to play them all from my folder and they can't be played in background therefore causing me loads of problem
And the same goes with my picture gallery (gallery ics).
I have searched a lot for solutions but found none of them working except of ofcourse reflashing ..
But I don't want to reflash.
So plzzzzz if you guyz know any work around then tell me plz :crying:
Note: the songs and pics are in the external sd card..

try this,
clear data and cache of the music app and gallery..
and from /sdcard/DCIM folder delete ".thumbnails" folder...
and then launch gallery..
it will take a bit more time to display all pics as it will generate thumbnails of all pics...
