Ok, so I went from Classicnerd to CM9 Alpha 2 to the CM9 Unofficial Nightlies and I am having an issue with the latest update. It seems that when I upgrade to either the CM9 Official Nightly or the most recent Unofficial Nightly, I am getting an SD Card Removed error. It seems to be linked to the upgrade from 4.0.3 to 4.0.4. All the apps that have been moved to my SD Card partition are not accessible. Anyone know why? I haven't wiped completely, because I am happy on 4.0.3, but I just wanted to see if there is an answer for this?

It sounds like something got corrupted. If you have a good backup, restore it, then wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache and install the latest nightly. That should do it. If you don't have a good backup, try wipe delete factory reset, wipe dalvik cache and install the latest nightly. You'll have to restore your data, but that's what you get for not having a nandroid.........
Good luck.
Edit : Rereading your post, I think you'll have to do a clean install of cm9. ClassicNerd uses different source. If you have a good backup, you can try advanced restore > restore data, or Titanium.
Yes, he's right.
When going from one release to the next in the same style of series (Alpha2 => Nightlies => more nightlies), you can get away with just a wipe of the /cache and the Dalvik cache. If you go from CN => Nightlies or Nightlies => CM, or any other combo that isn't the same series, you are best set to do a full backup, then a full wipe and start fresh. You can try an Advanced Restore, but be aware it might not work.
I too am having the same problem... it first occurred with the upgrade to 4.0.4. I wiped every thing restored cm9 backup and wen I'm instcalling apps and moving them to sdcard after about five apps my sdcard is removed and will not mount. So I reverted to cm7 (got to have headphone jack) and after moving some apps the samething occured again...

Since we are talking about wiping, I would just like to chime in and ask how that is done on the TouchPad. The only other Android device I have ever owned is my Droid X2 that I use now. And when I want to wipe that, Motorola has a method of doing it to where it sets you back to stock factory settings with a file they provide. Since the TouchPad isn't an official Android device and all, what do you use to wipe it and start over? A link to a thread that explains it would be helpful. I'm sure there is one. I will look.
for an answer to the OP i found this on rootzwiki....dunno if ok to post link but ima do it anyways...remove if frowned upon:
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/13277-cm7-fixes-for-sdcard-issues/
to fix my sdcard issues i AMCEUninstalled android and did a clean install of the latest moboot, gapps, clockworkmod, and cm9 A2. As for fixing the sdcard issue it also fixed alot of other things....no more Google maps constantly opening and wat not....much more stable.

any time i try to install anything from the market, it hangs in starting download and never goes. then FC
i recently followed the guide here to root my phone. everything works fine on the phone, only problem im having is with the marketplace.
i get a FC
"process com.google.process.gapps has stopped please try again"
dont know what the problem is, did another g1 just before i did this one and havent had any issues. does the size of the SD card matter? the one i use is a 2gb the other is a class 2 8gb. any help would be greatly appreciated. i want my phone back dangit
What rom are you on? Cyanogenmod by any chance?
If you're on Cyanogenmod rom then you need to wipe, wipe ext and dalvik, flash defanged 1.6 and re-flash CM again. That should do it.
If you're NOT on CM rom then wipe your phone, dalvik and re-flash your rom.
But, BEFORE doing any of that, try going into Settings-Applications-Manage applications and wipe data from Market, that just might do it.
Good luck
im running the most recent version of Cyanogen (4.2.15.1)
so just wipe everything and reflash it? would the size of my SD card have anything to do with it?
Sd size has nothing to do with your market.

Wipe and reflash rom...
I had the same problem today. I went to wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/Full_Update_Guide_-_G1/Dream_Firmware_to_CyanogenMod and followed the directions under: Flash Android1.6 & CyanogenMod latest and all was well. (if you don't install the signed-dream_devphone_userdebug-ota-14721.zip file in the last step the market and contacts won't work.)
My boot went corrupt with CM 7.0.2. I was able to restore to stock with no problem, but everytime I attempt to install CM 7 (stable or nightly), I get a black screen except for a little white/light blue line in the upper right corner.
I use the 3.0.0.5 Recovery with the directions in the following link.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=949699
Does anyone have an idea why this happens? I do remove the SD recovery card, and insert a blank SD card before rebooting.
Any help would be much appreciated!
Use 3.0.2.8 recovery
Thanks, I'll give that a shot right quick.

Tried it and it boots back to the black screen with the line in the upper right corner.
Here's what I did.
Made the bootable sd card, copied over lastest build of cm7 and gapps.
Installed zips.
wiped data.
switch sd cards, rebooted
also tried it w/o wiping data.
Is there anything I'm doing wrong?
Wiping cache?

Should I do that before or after installing the zips?
wipe system, data, cache, then flash zips

Just tried that, no dice. It's still going back to the same screen.
Download the cm7 again, might be corrupt

Just downloaded a stable release, and it works. Is there any reason why the Nightly 80 wouldn't work, even after re-downloading it?
I'm also dealing with the same issue as well. The problem started when I tried to update from nightly 76 to 77. I also tried to flash to nightly 80, but no luck. I'm flashing a stable release now.
Edit: Flashing the stable release also worked for me. However, I wasn't able to flash the latest nightly over the stable build.
Yep.
Same problem here.
The stable works, boots fine, but the nightlies won't boot.
They go into the same flashing blue line.
I tried all the advice I could find, wipe system, cache, data and tried restoring to stock, still no dice.
I am using CWM 3.0.2.8.
I'm just a different flash method (verygreen's SD install), but found that nightlies beyond 75 won't boot without installing the .32 OC kernel. There's a discussion in both cyanogenmod experimental nook forum and in the dev forum here about it.
I guess I'll just wait until they resolve the issue then. I was really wanting to see how well the deep sleep worked.
Finally got the latest nightly from today with OC kernel and gapps. Running great so far. Just waiting on market being able to download.
Hey Guys,
I'm having trouble with my NC and CM7. I decided to upgrade from the most recent stable version cm7 to the most recent nightly (149 I believe) I am installing to emmc, and using the clockwork bootable SD to do the install. I have wiped the system, data, cache then installed cm7 then Gapps. I go to reboot, and pull the SD it will get to the cyanogen mod boot screen and says loading... under the cyanogen logo. I figured first time it was booting it would take a while, after 15+ minutes of the same screen I realized its not going to work, so I tried an earlier nightly (146) and same story.. Is there something I'm doing wrong that would be different from how I installed stable to how I install a nightly? I can't see how it would be any different, but I could be wrong.. thanks in advance everyone!
Did you try to power it off, then power it up again?
Sometimes after a install it does not complete the first reboot.
If you just do the upgrade, then why you wipe /system and /data?
Wipe /cache is enough.
You know if you wipe /system & /data, then you lost everything and you have to redo the whole thing, right?
Not sure why you went through all that when you can just update through ROM Manager. In any event, did you wipe the Davlik cache?
As a data point, I installed n149+gapps this morning, wiped Dalvik only, all via Rom manager, and I'm running just fine.
Hey, I've been running the stock build on my rooted O2X for a while now and tried the CM7 nightly's after having a bad experience with CM7 RC1 a month-ish ago.
I backed up with CWM(via rom manager), and CM7 works fine.
But i don't like how it remaps the external storage and for some other reasons is does not work for me.
So i'm trying to go back and its not working.
It says its restored successfully but boot stays on the LG screen with the progress bar underneath. only a battery pull gets me out, which i have probably done 20 times now.
-It was initially unable to unmount /system, but after i fixed permissions that error was gone but it did not fix the problem.
- I went into advanced restore and did each one separately, they all claim to have worked successfully. but no dice
-I used back2ext3 hoping that was the root of the problem, but no luck there.
i wipe data, cache as well as dalvik every time, but still nothing.
What is up with this? is it possible that my image is corrupted or something? but why is it saying restored successfully?
CM7 nightly installs fine, so im using it in the interim, but its not optimal.
thanks for any ideas.
I bet you have an older version of CWM.
Make sure you're on at least v4 then try restoring.
Nope, im running 4.0.0.9, which is current
I have a HTC ONE m7, rooted, I have been running CM11, flashing the nightlies with great success. When CM12 came out, it 'soft bricked' my phone, continuous reboots, failing android functions. was able to reinstall Titanium backup, then restore the phone to a previous point. back running, but not without bugs. after trying this 3 times, I have given up. but I read where people say, "do a wipe" then flash the ROM....... What, specifically does this mean?
yes I have rooted my phone, but I am just knowledgable to be dangerous. if It means back to factory specs, then how do I flash the rom? I think that my phone should run CM12, and maybe I need to wipe? wipe what? dalvic cache? is that a wipe?
Anybody have some ideas or can point me to some postings that may help me. Many Thanks, very tired of operating on the last build of CM11
blairan
Do a wipe typically means wipe the data, system, cache, and dalvik cache partitions. If you are using TWRP as your recovery (I do for this phone), boot into it and then press Wipe, then Advanced Wipe. Select those four (not internal storage or USB OTG) and then Swipe to Wipe. Of course, your phone won't boot at this point, so you'll need a new ROM waiting on internal storage to be flashed.
thankyou Coal, I have been trying to install a CM12 and/or a CM12.1 ROM I can get them to boot up, but play store is not present. I can access play store via themes, and it comes up as a web page rather than an app. (is this norm for CM12?)
once I sign in to play store, I try to install titanium backup to restore all my apps. it says it is installed, I press it anyway, and it says it will be installed soon, which never happens. CM12 and CM12.1 seem to be running fine, but I can't restore any of my old phone. I can recover to a CM11, but it is a little unstable, so I would like to upgrade the system and be flashing nightlies again. what do you think?
and after watching a few videos on you tube, I figured out that I was missing the Gapps file, and the supers file. enjoying lollipop success.
thanks coal!

I was going to suggest GAPPS, but I wasn't sure if you needed it for CM. Glad you figured it out!
