is anyone else having bad battery life once they updated to stock (.56) ICS?
to me I'm getting anywhere between 2-3 hours less life out of my phone and i have larger (1800mAh) batteries.
i even take the batteries out every now and then and charge them on a wall battery charger that came with the batteries.
i have taken more measures to get better battery life and it appears that there is nothing i can do
i would get better battery life on HoliRaider with 1.6GHz OC!!!

Have you tried wiping battery stats? And doing a full battery calibration? If that even applies to this device I know it worked on my skyrocket.

It's been proven that wiping the stats doesn't do much. The skyrocket imo has better battery life than the vivid and runs on a higher mah batt.

I've tried just about everything, auto-sync off, brightness all the way down, wifi on /off, etc etc, it seems like the only way to have decent battery life is to keep data off all the time
one feature that i do miss from GB is you had the option of having "on demand data"..
however i do wish that at&t would go ahead and give us the option of having an LTE on/off switch.... yes i live in one of the cities blessed with LTE but it really takes a tole on your battery even when its in your pocket not being used

i still haven't rooted my phone (again) since ICS was released, will it work with RumFloat and/or just rooted no rom?

I just switched from the stock battery to extended yesterday and was wondering if there's anything I should do to "re-calibrate" the phone properly? I wiped battery stats once it was fully charged for the first time with the new battery, but it does seem to be dropping faster than I imagined. Should I give it a few cycles to settle in, or try and charge/wipe it again?
Give it a few cycles. It gets better over time. The same goes for the stock battery. This has been the same with every Android phone I've owned.

Currently I am running Liberty test build 48. It seems to last me around 6-8 hours on light use but I can't live like this forever. Light use is not why i bought this phone Lets face it. With heavy use every rom I have used has been around 35% after around 2-4 hours of heavy use with 4g enabled. All the reviews gave the bionic great battery life reports. But this is poor, I live with a charger in my pocket.
So my question is which rom are you using and what are you battery life experiences.?

Stock. Debloated.
Battery life? More than 6 hours.

Keeping 4g enabled all the time is what's killing your battery. All of the 4g phones have the issue but from what I've read Bionic is the only one out with decent life.

I have never turned 4G off on my thunderbolt or bionic.
My bionic stock got about 20-30 hours with moderate use. With the TH3ORY roms I get about 8-10 hours.
The Thunderbolt got 6-8 hours stock, and 10-12 on the bamf roms

I do restart my phone every morning and keep the text and things cleaned out.
Just like a computer the better the maintenance the better the performance.
Also as I understand it don't run task killers, its like pulling the plug on your computer over and over and then wondering why everything is unstable.
Also isn't gingerbread built to close apps if they aren't in use after a set amount of time?

6-8 hours isn't good
I've used most Android based phones and all of the Iphones. Loved the utility of the Androids but loved the battery life of the iphones. UNTIL the Bionic.
Based on my Thunderbolt experience I opted for the extended battery for the Bionic. Don't really need it. I use my phone almost totally for data and GPS. Easily 10 hours of heavy usage on standard battery. Not sure about the extended battery.
If you are only getting 6-9 hours on regular usage you really need to trim your running apps or return the phone. In my experience that is WAY under what your expectations should be. My best guess would be about 12-15 hours.
I should be getting mine in the next couple days and I've been curious about the use of 4G.
Is there any reason to have it on for the typical phone features? Such as phone calls, texting and idle. Unless you're a really heavy data user, it seems like you could have 4G off for a fairly significant portion of the day. Am I overestimating the power saved from having 4G off?
I haven't decided whether or not I plan on using any of the current roms, but I'm definitely not going to use one if that's the kind of battery life I can expect. I'd definitely like to hear more input about battery life from those using roms.
I have the 2760mah extended battery. Running d3blurr3d beta4. Im currently testing my battery to see how long it lasts. Right now im at 24 hours and I have 37% battery left. Battery life has been insane coming from the tbolt. Im in the moderate to heavy use bracket.

Well...
Having tried all the custom roms out there I can say without a doubt that d3blurr3d (currently running beta4 but beta6 is current) has the best battery life. I agree the r3blurr3d ate my battery alive but this d3blurr3d is a whole new story. Off battery with moderate usage for 12 hours I sit at 53% right now with the extended battery...used to be below 10.
How does it compare to your stock experience?
Where is reblurred at? Saw it before but nit recently. Lately just r3blurr3d 1.7 or the liberty teat build on andirc#bionic

RE: Battery Vivid Life
Mine has been absolutely horrid. With moderate use I'm lucky if it lasts 3 hours. To be honest, though, I didn't let it charge completely when I first got it - I was too excited. I'm actually recalibrating it now in hopes of improving it.

The notification light blinks yellow, and a big battery image and a message pop up on the screen when the battery level hits 10%, then again at 5%. It's pretty obvious. Also, the phone shuts down some background functions such as data syncing to conserve battery power.
Full on data streaming of my podcast or Rdio on Hspa drains my battery in 5 hours or so. With sporadic web browsing in there, just listening to cached music and podcast I stretch it past 8 hours. Better then my desire by 2/3 hours

Yeah, I thought my GS2 was good, but this is definitely better, especially considering LTE.
I finally ran it down to low battery the other day because an app ran away with my processor and drained my battery in the background. It did this in my locker while I was at the gym. When I finally pulled it out of my pants, it was super hot and down 20% lower than usual for that time of day. I restarted the phone and still managed to make it through the rest of the day and night before it died, but just barely.
Runaway apps is one of the things I have always hated about android, but that was the only time it happened since I bought the phone, so I can live with it.

Yeah, I'd read reviews that the battery life wasn't spectacular - but this is downright confusing! Do you think I ruined it by just using right out of the box without letting it do a few charge cycles (again I was TOO excited, the most excited I'd ever been about a phone)?

I was wondering if blitz supported the voltage adjustments as maybe it would help us that get a decrease in battery life because of blitz? Ik its UC already but thought fine tuning it to phone could help even more?
Also, if you were to use this with rom toolbox would the CPU settings interfere? Would you have to remove rom toolbox?

Okay thanks I'll try it out.
A few things that people seem to forget when comparing battery life. One person can get twice the battery life than someone else for many reasons.
A few:
1) are you in a 3g or 4g area? 4g will use more battery because of dual radio (recommend to switch to CDMA only mode when in a 3g only area, OR when you don't need 4g connectivity)
2) What options are running? (Wifi, GPS, Bluetooth, etc) Don't have any of those features on, especially Wifi, it will suck your battery down quick.
3) Your CPU app (Such as SetCPU). Is is set to Performance, OnDemand, PowerSave? I don't fiddle around with custom settings, just use the stock of those 3 and notice a major battery improvement with just the stock PowerSave.
4) Is your screen brightness on manual or auto mode? Auto mode will take 2-5 times as much juice as it's constantly scanning and changing screen brightness.
5) (almost forgot this) Most importantly, make sure you are in a good signal area (at least 80%) before complaining of poor battery life. Anything below 80% signal can cause your phone to search hi and low for a better tower and better signal. Anything below 50% is likely to draing your battery in half the time, or even less. Constant scanning for a better signal uses up a LOT of juice. I've had past phones that lasted for 2.5 days on a single charge when in full signal. Down to about 10-12 hours in poor signal and similar usage in both areas.
5.5) Those who don't yet know... Don't complain like the ones on Verizon website/reviews where the only thing that some will complain, or markdown on, is battery life. You are using (by assumption you reading this in this forum) a 4g, dual mode phone. NOOBS: This means there are two radios/antennas in your phone that are working together. One on 3g(CDMA) and one on 4g(LTE). This automatically makes your 4g phone use more battery. Don't like it? Go buy a 3g only phone... :O
Make sure to also not have any 'task manager/killer' running. These apps are not only bad for your phone (been proven), but they also use more juice than they save. At least in my experience and from other posts I have read.

I flashed the 1.31 firmware for s-off to upgrade the radio and my battery life now drops faster than it did before the change in firmware. I tried both custom roms and stock roms on 1.29 and 1.31 with both stock or modified kernels and it doesn't seem to change(some break camera or volume to wake or something else) Battery drops faster after firmware flash.
I'm still on Hboot 1.44 with s-off and just ruu'ed back to stock 1.29.651 installed the custom rom I was on prior to the firmware 1.31 and battery still drops faster than before the firmware update.
I was previously going 7am to 7pm and would have 75% battery. Now I'm at less than 25%. My usage during the day has not changed and my setup is back to the same.
Has anyone else experienced battery life that is worse than before the 1.31 update.

I am losing about 5% every 25mins which means I'll get about 8hrs total on a charge.
Using better battery stats I'll have to run 4hrs minimum, but a good day or two is best to check stats.
Nothing is looking abnormal after 25min except what I think is a higher than normal drain.

you've got a rouge app or something sucking battery unless you live in a low signal area.
So after checking the battery apps it appears my screen on and xda via tapatalk is using most of the battery consumption.
Also there is one area in my office that flips from 4g lte to 3g depending on what side of the building I'm on. This causes lots of radio activity switches as 4g ltd is new to the area. Finally some LTE, but the switching is killing the battery.
