Hi all.
First of all let me use this opportunity to thank this amazing and always growing community for their help and everything else in my Android life.
Well, I have been using different ROM's recently and experimenting a lot with my device. Its been great.
To cut it short, I am looking to get my device back to it's original state.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Mini S5570, rooted, with MusicRom.
I also have a 2GB SD card, which I 'separated' in order to install apps on SD.
I would like to know how can I get the SD card back to the original mode, flash a simple Android 2.3.6 rom, and unroot it.
Help is appreciated.
You can remove the partition using a partition tool like multitool wizard. You can flash gingerbread through Odin, a good tutorial can be found here: http://youtube.com/watch?v=tcki_b7j0bQ. Stock roms are unrooted by default. Click thanks if I helped.

when flashing the stock rom 2.3.6 it will unroot by it self

Both helped a lot.
I found out that the tool is named Mini Tool not Multi Tool.
I am trying to un partition my SD card now. Than I will try and flash the rom through Odin and I am all set.
Thank you both.
Just a simpler method than that one:Just move all files from SD card to your PC.After emptying SD card go to Settings >Storage>Erase SD card. Now your SD card is 1.84GB free

Hello, I got a vivid second hand and am trying to flash it back to stock so i can get the ICS OTA. I dont mind if I lose root, here is the situation. I got it with a custom rom (rumraider 2.3.7) so I suppose the bootloader is unlocked and its rooted. Bootloader still says S-ON by the way. Now I downloaded the PH39IMG for stock ATT firmware and placed it in my sd card, but when I boot in bootloader, i dint see it checking for update files like Android phones usually do. So it doesnt detect it. How can I fix this or is there something I overlooked?
Sorry for my ignorance, this is my first HTC with the whole bootloader locking fiasco so im kinda new on how things work here.
Or if there a CMW flashable stock rom I can download (could not find) or if someone is nice enough to upload a nandroid backup of a stock rom also, id really appreciate it. I dont have access to a PC ATM so I cant do the RUU method, im looking for a way to do it on the phone itself if possible. Thanks
Are you using the PH39.img from the super guide? Also did you put it on your external sd card and on the root of the card, not inside of any folders, etc.?

I figured out what the problem is, its not detecting my external sd card. I mixed it up with the phones internal memory. Im gonna have to see if i can pick up another one to test. Wish there was a CWM GB ROM floating around or some nandroid.
Hey guys! I was told to come here for help on rooting and modding my Samsung Captivate! I've been a long time member on overclock.net and I have heard nothing but good things from XDA so I thought I'd stop by for some quick questions.
What I am looking to do is mainly use the free tethering that cyanmod offers. I totally am not willing to pay ATT $30.00 a month for tethering.
I've been reading some post's on here and other places, but I would like to get your input on the best ways to do this without bricking or messing up my phone.
I apologize if there is already a sticky for this but I honestly didn't see anything I was 100% about.
I am currently running the 2.1 on my Captivate and the only thing I need to possibly back up is my contacts.
If anyone would be kind of enough to point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it!
Thank you,
Obzz/THEoBZ
If you are on 2.1 that is an easy place to start. If your not worried about backing up anything besides contacts, there's no real need to root before flashing cyanogenmod. If you do want to back things up such as your apps, wifi networks, etc etc I'd highly suggest rooting your device. Regardless, all you need to do is have a clockworkmod recovery zip on your SD card. Boot into recovery flash the custom recovery, then wipe data/factory reset, then flash you're desired ROM.

Oh ok! Is there anyway I can save them without a SD? Like to my computer or something?
You can use the internal SD and export it to it! then transfer to the computer. It is contacts>menu>IMport/Export>export to SD card
Or just sync your contacts through your google account that's the easiest way I find.

Alright, I went ahead and just saved them to my SIM. Question, for some reason when I try and use my internal SD it says none is available.. How do I fix this?
Also will I need a extra SD card to install cyanmod? The only instructions I can find is that way..
You won't need another SD card. The internal SD card can be used to store the cyanogenmod zip file. I'm not sure what you mean when you say the SD card cannot be found?

Hi all, i have got an S3m (stock) for my wife & wanted to root & install custom rom before i gave it to her, then just pop her sd card in. Is this possible/advisable or am i better off waiting & using the sd card she has?. many thanks....
Before installing the Custom ROM you need to Install a custom Recovery like TWRP. This is possible via Odin. The you can flash your custom rom via Odin or Recovery. Rooting is not necessary before flashing ity i guess.
A guide how you have to do that can be found in the roms thread.
Hope I could help you!
Ok, cheers for that mate, but what i was trying to ask was can i use separate sd cards for rooting & custom rom & then just put the card she has in her phone(stock gb) at the mo? new phone is a gift. i want to install kk based rom on new phone. hope thats a better explanation..
Roms are stored in the phone internal memory, so swaping SD cards is not a problem.
have it sorted now, thanks for the help guys, wife very happy........
Hello, I have a Verizon sch-i800 that had a bad internal SD card. I followed the guide, removed it and I now have CWM on it. My external SD card is formatted and I can access it using the adb commands and CWM. I am needing to find out what Roms I can try on it.
I'm only able to search the web using my phone at the moment and would have to go to a hotspot with my laptop to download any Roms. I've only been able to download one so far with my phone because of signal drops.
After changing the updater.sh with the pacman 4.3.1 ROM I downloaded I found that it came with twerp and won't work as far as I know.
I can't find Terence's cm 11 build. Perhaps there are others?
Can you guys help me with finding a usable ROM?
Also, is this tab also known as p1000? Its written on cables in the tab.
