Unable to find a fasty 3.0 rom dl link. Im on fasty 2.5 with noticeable battery life over ICS roms and also no SOD's on this rom. I had a problem with alarm not getting me up for work so i went back gb roms. Although this is my first post ive been creeping the forums a while, unable to post in the dev forum. I also had a ? If i could use another kernel with fasty 2.5 sry for the new thread in adv but i looked for quite a bit on my ?'s

I've never been able to get a fasty rom to work on my device, sorry
Using Doc's Master ROM v7: Cappy edition
the logicroms domain is dead so i dont think there is a dl link for it anymore unless someone mirrored it.
he discontinued it, so unless someone saved a copy and is hosting it - its "lost"
thank you kind sirs for the reply, sad story on fasty 3 though

If Fasty is gone, any recommendations for a gingerbread ROM with good battery life?
You vould try Legend KK4 or Simply Stock KK4. Also, even though it has been discontinued, many people (including my wife) still run Illuminance paired with Corn Kernel.

Hi I have made a rom for the i9000 called ULTIMATE. look at my threads and you will find it, I was wondering if captivate users will also like it, if so pm me a clockwork dump of a froyo rom. Basically do a nandroid backup of your phone, then connect your phone to your PC and in your SD card, go to clockwork>backup. There will be a folder with today's or whenever's date and pm me cache.img and system.img inside that folder. Have a good day

No such thing, only the i9000 has the official jpx froyo.
Yeah. Almost all our roms are based off you guy's source with reoriented kernels.

Hey that's awesome of you man. I hope ur can cook something up for us once... we finally get froyo. Thanks.

I think the Cognition roms are built on the JI6 which is a Captivate rom.
Not certain though.
Both the JI6 and JJ4 based roms are for the Captivate. Neither one uses a reorient kernel.
he's not asking for a froyo source; he's asking for a froyo dump. this includes JI6 and JJ4. I'd do it myself but I'm not at a computer :/

No one is going to "upgrade" to an old/slow/beta build of froyo when the official 2.2.1 jpx build is out for the i9000.
I certainly wouldn't use a captivate rom. I was thrilled when the reorient kernels made it possible to use the i9000 roms and totally get away from the att crap

I think most of us would rather have your ultimate rom customized for the captivate but still an i9000 rom. similar to what doc has done for us and what some of the other devs have done around here with the i9000 roms

just like nobody is using cognition that is built completely on JJ4? that thread still gets a few pages of posts every day. even if it is an old beta build, it's still fast.
setiron's kernel with ultimate lagfix and oc/uv: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=828052
xcaliburinhand's kernel with voodoo and no oc/uv: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=808286

Have you tried jpx? Its smoother and faster than any previous froyo build and i'm not even running a lagfix, still running on rfs, try doing that on jj4.
I urge you to try it, you will not believe how fast it runs, plus the browser is gpu accelerated in 2.2.1 pages scroll as smooth as butter, goto www.anandtech.com right now on your jj4 build and see how badly it lags even with flash disabled.
Don't hold your phone back with a 2 month old build, getting jpx to run our phones is pretty simple you just need to add a kernel/modem/sdcard fix, but if webstar1 packages all up in one zip it'll be even simpler.
webstar1: after adding either xcal's or setiron's kernel, add either the jk4 or jl3 modem and hardcore's sdcard fix then it'll work perfectly on the captivates.
+1 for the 2.2.1 usage. These roms are blazing w/o lagfix. The browser is just a pleasure to use.

i'm not on JJ4, nor have I been in a very long time. my only point is, and has been since I first posted in this thread, that it's not a dead build.
I just went back to the optimized JJ4 rom on my phone (from Cyanogenmod Beta 4 nightly). I've been on Perception and Cognition. While I haven't tried the 2.2.1 rom, I am perfectly happy with using an "old" outdated rom that was designed for my phone as every I9000 rom that I have tried otherwise has had some sort of little caveat that made it less desirable for me.
Maybe I just haven't tried the right roms, but I can't be the only one who would rather use a rom either designed from a Captivate rom or AOSP.
What is the most popular and most realible modem and/or ROM to flash onto my samsung captivate?

There are a good number of stable, and great running ROM's out there right now.
I just flashed the new Darky 9.02 last night (you can find it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=890429&page=135 )
There is also a great kitchen where you can cook your own. Its quite easy with the tools they give you. you can choose whatever modem and kernal you like. You can find that here: http://romkitchen.org/capt/?s=home
Have fun, and experiment. Its the best way to find out what works for you.

There is no universal answer. I prefer Andromeda 1.0 with the KP1 modem (included in 1.0) and the latest Glitterballs kernel. Andromeda 2 is themed and comes with the JL2 modem (which doesn't work as well for me, but some people love it).
For my specific device in my location, I've found that Perception 10 with the Firebird 2 Kernel and using the Telus modem gives me the best performance numbers (benchmarks, data and battery) with the luxury of no FC's. Changing anything for improvement in one area usually results in a decrease somewhere else.
So this has been my happy spot so far.

I have had no issues in the last 24 hours, the ROM is stable once you get it flashed, but other users have reported difficulty getting the flash to go the right way.
You can wait for 9.1, or flash one of ytt3r's older Darky Ports
I did flash to the latest darkly rom and it crashed several times. Also I installed cognition and lost all service. Had 1 bar in a 4 bar reception area. And also couldn't connect to att network server... im thinking im going to try cooking one up at the kitchen.

Its a good experience. I cooked a couple of ROMs there, and they worked really well.
im from fascinate.. my roommate has a captivate and would like to get a rom and voodoo.. i would like to get him a super-clean rom, that everything works on. that you have source code to (meaning i can use custom kernels like voodoo) preferably zip aligned and deodexed. im running dj05 sc.9 on my fascinate, and would like something comparable.. if you have froyo source, froyo would be preferred.
thanks in advance. i appreciate any and all help.
Try dilligaf's 7.x. Link in my signature
You can't really go wrong with the newest versions of Cognition or Serendipity either. I was on Cog 4 then flashed Serendipity 6.2. Both are are very stable.
Any of the more popular roms should meet your criteria.
Is it just me or have there been an abundance of "what rom?" threads lately?
Agreed. Less reading, and more cbf'd people.
My vote is for FireFly. I have yet to have any issues and when there is an issue X is quick to get a fix out.
Sre with ryan za olcf
CM7
this link should give you a run down on everything current

And tell your roomate to flash his own rom that way you won't have to flash for him every other day

No one can tell you want rom to run. Most of the custom roms meet your Requirments. Please do a little searching before opening a new thread
Lately release schedule, quality and support of Cogntion went sour. I want to try some other ROM and wondering if somebody switched from Cognition to some other ROM and still had a good quality experience.
My wishlist is very simple really:
1. I want ROM to lilst "Russian" as supported language on handset.
2. Stable ROM
3. Good battery life (don't care about overclocking and stuff like that)
Wrong forum kiddo
This should be in Q&A btw . Not in development . No trolling intended .
Honestly , just try out all the ROMs out there . The best 2.2 ROM i've tried was FireFly , but atm , I'm on the MIUI port for the Captivate .
339 post and still posting on the wrong sub-forum? I hope you really mistaken this as the Q&A
but back on topic, I'm on Continuum v4 with speedmod, its pretty good.
You should try them all and see which one suits you. If you want Russian language support I would recommend going to i9000 section and checking out some of those roms too. Or you could flash a different CSC file (one with Russian) with Odin. I like this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=948790
Obviously, you'll have to do some heavy tweaking, but I find that starting with a good base and customizing yourself is the best way to go.
Im gonna go ahead and suggest either firefly or serendipity
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
For me, Continuum v4 un-themed has been the best. BUT your mileage may vary . I love the i9000 modem speeds.
without a doubt cyanogen mod 7. It is very stable in my opinion, battery life gets me well through the day..and it's just so fast... longest i've ever stayed on a single rom.
I have tried them all . I also like cog. But now i use firefly. You should give it a try u might like it.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Just like others, I suggest you try them.
As for personnal opinion, I like Team Phoenix's work (FireFly being my top) but there's also A3 that is extremly stable and very stock styled.
Also Seren by MM is something you might wanna take a look at.
Then again, just my personnal opinion and I think you should try many before choosing the one that suits you the best
Andromeda3 without a doubt
Yeah this does belong in q&a but im sure everyone is in a good mood rite now. But im sure a good gingerbread rom will drop in the next few days

Not development but if you're not falling into the 2.2.1 or cm7 crazes get andromeda. It is probably the best quality of any rom period.
Way better than cog ever was. Just swap the modem for kc1.
I also like the work from dagr8. He was an andromeda dev.
2.2.1 may benchmark faster than 2.2 but andromeda is the only captivate rom built from captivate (i9010 armani)sources that was developed by a team of devs. There was a lot of work put into it. And coming from cognition you are not loosing anything only gaining.

Dragon RC7 is also an awesome rom! I suggest Suckerpunch voodoo #12 with cfq scheduler if you go this route. I switch between the two every other day. Just can't decide which is better. Though I am bent toward andromeda.

Hi all. I'm a long time WM user, but a complete Android noob. My gf just got a Vibrant, and I was able to root and unlock it. I deleted some of the bloat that came along with it.
I'm going to get a Captivate very soon (it's stock ATT). I know the phones are almost identical, but I would like to get a stripped rom. Think Da_G's Fuze and Jacko's Rhodium.
What would be a good rom for me to start with? With WM, you would just flash a rom and be done, but with Android, I notice there are both roms and kernels. Which would I need? And what order do I flash them in?
Thanks in advance for any help and info.
a. this is the dev section, meant for posting roms/kernels and not for asking simple questions
b. a rom always comes with a custom kernel
c. since there's dozens of roms you're going to have to look at its features/themes and decide which one suits you best.
Need to learn where to post properly.
Sorry - can a mod please move this to the general section. But thanks for the info regarding roms/kernels.
Start with Cyanogen first.

Id go with a Froyo ROM first, i went with Mikeymike's Serendipity 6.4 for me first, super easy to do it and much less can go wrong. never soft bricked my phone on a froyo ROM.
then when i went to gingerbread i went with Mikymike's Serendipity VII, soft bricked it 3 or 4 times. i recommend getting a JIG or making ur own JIG before doing a gingerbread ROM.

+1 best advice of them all , personally im biased .. (read my sig )
although I disagree , cm7 and miui is not somethign for starters .. read the Cyanogen OP it clearly states its not a rom to start with ..
for the rest .. best advice is to try them all and se what works best for YOU.
You are correct about cm7 and miui, and you make great roms

Although CM7 and MIUI are great Roms.. Go with Serendipity. Start with Froyo then go to the Gingerbread version.
Personally, it's the most stable and has never done me wrong.. But then again it's all up to the user.
