I had used some CM roms and its the same issue, it overheat, even if you arent using data connections (wifi or 3g) for example, just adjusting system settings, is there anyone with this issue?
If there`s a solution of this issue it will be at 99.9% to perfection.
No overheating with cm9 here, are you using default kernel? Oc?
all on default, whats oc?
I am using Rom Icssgs with semaphore kernel and No over heat, just minor issues.
O used ICSSGS before and no overheat issues either just battery life, y only have this issue in CM 9 nightly

Y tried and it dont overheat but i dont get the great battery life as cm9

it may be the modem, i flashed UGKG3 with jw4 to have 850 mhz gsm 3g connection but when using this on cm9 it gets really hot

I asked about the one with the best battery life, not the one that "nice to look at".

Hi,
During the time I tried plenty of kernels and roms, I was very impressed by the galaxy EE kernel for the battery life. With normal usage (phone, sms, download, games) but without 3g, my battery lasted around 4 days.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1137595
About the rom, I did not test myself, but heared a lot of positive feedback for GingerReal2, which is very stable and smooth http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1155623
If the rom is very responsive and does not have plenty of candy and shiny fireworks, this would mean you can tune your cpu with lower speed, which will lower the battery consumption (which is possible with galaxian kernel)
I hope it helped you ;-)
Have fun !
P.S. I am surprised that you have bad battery life with CM7, because it is a very good one for that point if I remember well... Did you try to tweak the system when you installed it ?
I have had cyanogenmod 7 and miui and try a lot of kernels!
Cm7 is very good also with stock kernel, but I think that Cyanofortomorrow v1.2 is very good! You can dwl it with stock kernel or with platypus kernel.
Miui is very nice but battery life is not the best! I have a mintberry rom with glitch kernel v13.
The best kernel in my opinion are glith kernel V13 HL (smartassv2, sleep governov powersave) and platipus neo 18 didle (deep idle). For less battery drain it's very important understand wich modem phone is better for your geographic area and operator.
Hi,
I'm using the NYX RC5 ICS rom.
I'm quite satisfied with stability and I didn't encounter too many issues so far apart from the battery drain.
However, this is my first ICS ROM so I can't compare it with nothing else.
I only read that people don't complain too much on the battery with this ROM and some say they are very happy with it.
So,
Does anyone know what could be the problem? I already tried to discharge it twice and cleat battery stat but still battery drains very fast.
Any thoughts or tips would be appreciated,
Thanks,
try changing the kernel...

Any kernel in particular you can recommend for good battery?
thanks,
(I'm currently using devil3 0.79)

Try semaphore or icy glitch...the problem may not be with kernel..try changing modem...try the zsjpg ..
The battery life on my girlfriends note is rather poor, I'm not sure how the kernel work with the note but she's currently running jellybam. Can anyone suggests some energy efficient ROMs ?

I am using SAmsung Stock ICS 4.0.4 with Philz kernel. I have no problems with the battery.
BurtROM LSZ and PhilZ LSZ = PERFORMANCE AND BATTERY PERFECT.:good:
Rightnow my note is running on jellybam it can stand for day with fair usage

It depends on how you define poor.
There's the usual things to do, you can undervolt to help, throttle the top end, get better battery stats to check for wake locks, make sure gps /wifi /bluetooth /sync aren't on when you don't need them. Turn down screen brightness as that probably the biggest drain on battery, so using apps with light background isn't great.
You can use different governor / scheduler combo. Some people say pegasusq /sio is a good one. Some apps help either by turning off services you don't need while your not using your phone or by adding tweaks to help efficiency.
Use search for battery tips as there's a lot of information out there.
That said there's always the old gem of 'new battery' depending on how old her note is. Remember there are larger than 2500mAh batteries out there, although above a certain point the battery gets thick and comes with a new back to help contain it.
Hope that helps.

By the way of the Asylum 4.2.2, is possible to do uv in 20022013 version?
with my rom I hold 6-7 hours with 3g every time on
i wanted to give this device to my girlfriend but it turnes out that if wifi is enabled the battery is drained in about 5-6hours if not using the device.
on 3g it can lasts 2 days with low to med usage.
the device runs on stock ics and almost no apps.
so my question is if this is some kind of software issue or if this is related to the hardware having a problem.
i had the device in warranty last year to replace the pcb because of some wifi connection issue and the warranty runs out end of may.

I had that problem on ICS stock.. but I solved this . Install a custom rom (e.g PA by tonyp with kk exp116) becauze in ICS 4.0.4 by LG the wifi consume more battery , very much !
thanks for the info, i.guess i will.see if i can ge rid of the drain with a custom rom....
have you tried if might be a ril or bb issue?
but im thinking about sending it in even if its a software issue so lg has something to do....

Hi guys, maybe you read this question a lot of times...
In your opinion which is the best battery friendly ROM for our device atm? I don't really care about performance aspects because I'm not a gamer

I get +/- 1 day on stock JB (GPS always ON, data always On). Last time i tried CM (RC2) i didn't get 6h...
I'm currently getting a decent ammount of battery life with CM Nightly 20130613 + Idoak v6 kernel.
Also Stock ROM with Idoak kernel is good aswell. Just have my Governor set to Interactive and seems to do a pretty well job.

From what I've read/heard around. The CM RC version are alot more buggy and problematic than the Nightlies. I haven't tried the RCs myself tho the Nightly does feel pretty smooth and stable.
Which firmware?
Sent from my LG-P880 using xda premium
ROM has little to nothing to do with battery life, aside from the obvious settings you can select to turn opn or off features. what does influence battery life is how you use the phone and in particular 3 key elements
1) Kernel - Stock kernel is pretty limited, using alternative kernels will allow different governor and scheduler options along with frequency and voltage control
2) Tweaks - many unsuspectable little things can change the way your phone drains, probably the best way to start is getting pimp my rom from the plauy store
3) Apps - You will need apps to help managing and scheduling when and how the phone drains. LBE security master or any other task manager will prevent unwanted app startings and others like juice defender or other battery saving programs help with which interfaces are on and when.
Also keep in mind that if your phone is new the battery in the first 3-4 days need to settle and will change drastically behaviour.
Hope this helps
In any case a catania sto telefono te lo fanno prima della terza ricarica quindi non mi starei a preoccupar troppo
Grazie XD
In this case which kernel and governor do you suggest me?

Stock rom, remove LG MLT and Google Backup Service and you should be good.
I can leave my phone for 2 days without worrying about charging it. However, with screen set to 50 or 100% brightness, the battery drains very fast.
Otherwise, keep your screen brigthness low and get a governor that lets you throttle the CPU. At 800 MHz,you should be fine. Also, dont use auto brightness, it will not help.
Thank you which firmware?

I'm using SuperXE with iodak kernel, undervolted.
Currently on 55% battery after 13.5 hrs 1hr+ screen time.

EuroOpen V20A if stock or CM, some nightly between RC2 and RC 3(Thats the last ones I tested that used to be good)
Could someone help on what r the steps for install custom ROMS and Wich one is the best for battery life I'm having very very huge battery problem. The battery it's long for about 3 hours tops and I need to keep charging always and also the overheat is extremely. I will appreciate ur help

Sorry but you should write a new topic for this problem... Anyway there are several guides in this section that revolve about how to install custom roms. Try looking there... However generally after installed a recovery you should do a full wipe (data/cache/dalvik) -> install zip from sd card -> choose zip from internal/external sd card -> [file directory] -> choose file -> yes

Im using iodak 6.0 and latest CM nightly builds. Battery is much better then on stock ROM and kernel.

I dont know if iodak improves battery life, but I do not think that battery improved with CM. It actually got worse for me,
XenonHD + iodak v06 has been very smooth and battery friendly. A day and a half of moderate use and I'm sitting at 18%
