Motorola Milestone Keyboard Problem - Motorola Droid and Milestone Q&A, Help & Troublesh

Hi people,
Got some weird thing with my external keyboard since a few updates, hope you guys can help me out with this. Using [ROM] CyanogenMod 7.2.0 RC1 (Android 2.3.7) just reinstalled my complete phone and removed everything.
Problem: I can no longer typ 2 letters in a row like e, i, u, etc. without getting stuff like ë, í, ü etc. I have to wait a second all the time before typing the same letter. Did try qwerty and EURO QWERTY from boot menu, but they both have the same problem.
I also tried alot of keyboards from the market but couldn't find a propper one.
I hope someone can help me with this issue.
Thanks,
Tonny

Sounds more like a hardware failure honestly. On my Droid I experience somewhat of the same thing, certain letters will not work after more than one was used. for example I can type a word than start typing can't and it will be cnt. it happens with vowels.

Thanks for your reaction but im not really sure about a hardware failure. I had it working with some kind of keyboard from the market but the phone gets slow by loading that when I want to text, so i dont want that. And its with every letter that is able to get 'üïóé' some kind of sign on top of it. Sorry for bad explanation but cant find the right words. Hope you understand the problem.
This happend a few updates ago from cyanogenmod.

Well it sounds like a problem with the software for the keyboard, and yeah I hear you keyboards slow down my droid also.

"W" letter

hey ive been having this problem for the past couple days and was wondering if anyone has experianced the same thing or could shed abit of light on it.
basically whenever writing a text, or word document or typing a web address, etc and i click on the letter "w" nothing comes up and the phone crashes, doesnt let me type anything, goes super super slow and doesnt really respond to nething so i have to reset it. this happens when using the "w" on the on screen keyboard and on the pull out keyboard.
i havnt dropped it recently and its in perfect condition, also havnt installed anything recently that may hav caused it. it just seemed to randomly start happening. will have to try a hard reset if theres no other solution, but any ideas would be greatly appreciated?
I would suggest a hard reset. If it is a software error that should do the trick.
But i guess this has something to do with hardware. I had that problem with my wizard. The commanager button caused the device to crash. Once I opened it I found about 1 kg of dust sitting behind the button. Once that was out of the way the device was normal again.
edit: Just try opening the device as a last resort.
here you can find the service manual. Link removed - no longer valid
thanks mate, may try a hard reset then. but i'll leave it till weekend after exams have finished as its quite time consuming installing everything again, etc.
i perhaps should have mentioned that it only crashes if "w" is the first letter i use. if i type something else an then use it, it seems to work. (altho i havnt tested this properly, i'll assume this is usually the case). just seems like a very strange problem to get
anywayz, thank you for ur advice
nice screen name Is this a stock ROM or a cooked one? maybe the keyboard fix would correct it?

I have almost the same problem with my "w" key also. I have to press it longer than i do other keys to get it to type a "w" and when i do it causes a slow down on my phone.
sounds like its time for a song..

[Q] keyboard spazzing out

has anyone else experinced there n1 keyboard sometimes just spazzing out..?
meaning you hit one letter and it either writes multiple of that letter or just writes other letters completly..
or for that matter youre trying to slide down the notification bar and nothing happens or the screen just slides to a different home screen..
ive been having that happen to me for a while and sometimes putting it to sleep and bringing it back is a quick fix, sometimes not.. any ideas and fixes?
Thank you
It happens, most of us have experienced it.Likely the digitizer.
Locking/unlocking does fix it. Make sure you're on the latest version of Android too.
Yeah its a well known nexus problem. Just lock and unlock the screen fixes it. Cheap touch layer:-(
Yes I do have the latest update. Sometimes it makes me want to throw the phone. Always seems to happen when. I need the phonebthe most lol. Thank u
holy hell this is happening alot to me now.... its been doing it for the last couple of hours and im trying to text and its impossible!! even tried rebooting cm 6.0
May be dust under the screen?

Sry if i post in the wronf section
You are doing this "bad english" thing on purpose aren't you? Almost every single browser out there has spell check built in. Your grammar is more or less correct, so it's definitely nothing to do with you being a foreign language speaker. What on earth are you trying to achieve?

Agreed, it seems a bit acted out.

Anyone having issues with Samsung Keyboard input?

Alright since the first day of release when I got the phone, the keyboard has been acting all funky. There are times that the autocorrect does nothing to correct any mistakes (like "im" to I'm"), nor does it tag misspelled words (doesn't tag "thr" or "adlalkdj" as a wrong spelling). Here's another weird one: oftentimes I correct a misspelled word I just typed, corrected it, and when I hit space, the whole word disappears. Like if I typed in "thr" oh I just hit backspace and replaced r with e, hit space and the whole word disappears (like wow really, Samsung?). Keep in mind this is a brand new phone. Typing has never been the same. Could it be the keyboard data was transferred by Smart Switch when I shifted from my S7 Edge? I've reset the keyboard so many times and it still gives me the same issues. After doing a lot of research online, seems that no one else is having an issue so it might be a software issue for my device specifically. I really don't want to factory reset the phone at this point.
Any thoughts?
No issues whatsoever. updated to Swiftkey 5 minutes after I took it out the box.
You are NOT the only one. Check the Note 7 thread and Android Central forums. I have the same issue. Read that people recommend Chrooma Keyboard cause it cause no lag. I was having issues with Swiftkey.

Same here the stock keyboard is screwed up massively and it's only the T-Mobile variant. Also the fact that it uses Samsung voice input instead of google voice input which is horrible and will not allow you to curse. I've looked into this and on the Sprint, AT&T and Verizon Note 7's they all work just like my s7 did, Seamless with google voice input but not the T-Mobile phone. I really hope this gets fixed asap.

It's a software issue with their keyboard.
same here. ive even checked all my settings. kinda annoying and makes you type slower lol
idk i dont have that problem. but i also have autocorrect off. i never liked it. And most sites will highlight incorrectly spelled works, so i saw no need for it. And if i didnt know how to spell a work i speak to text it lol..
I had no problem with my T-Mobile version but I switched over to google keyboard after a while because I was use to typing on that on my previous device.

I'm used to the Samsung Keyboard but I've also switched to Google Keyboard because of the terrible auto-correct currently with the Samsung one. Can't wait for our first software update.
yes, its extremely annoying
ill mispell a word, backspace to correct it, and when i hit space the whole. word disapears.
i moved to swiftkey which sucks compared to Samsungs key board.
where is the patch!?
On my old phone, Samsung keyboard's auto correct feature literally didn't allow me to type word that wasn't in the dictionary, which drove me bananas. I turned off auto correct, problem solved. N7 keyboard is much better in that regard, but if I have any problems in future, will just do the same, turn off auto correct. A lot of my typing is not in dictionary like txs, tks, plse etc. so no big loss. I like Samsung keyboard more than any other.
Yeah, I heard good things about the stock keyboard, decided to try with the new 7, same issues as op, finally installed SwiftKey, no problems.

My new s7 edge is doing exactly the same thing yours is. Sometimes if i correct a word, hit space, it will actually erase everyyhing I've written! It can't spell much of anything i may need to double check
I was just trying to add a thesaurus to the dictionary but its impossible.

I forgot to mention that phone is not rooted
Anyone?
Do you use SwiftKey? I had a similar problem with SwiftKey, also Mössingen Keys, but not only the A.
It's a SwiftKey Problem and the developers are knowing this. I found out that many people are having this problems since years and because of this I switched to Gboard and love it now...no issues, fast typing, better auto fill.

I have the same issue, on 2 different P10 (VTR09 and VTR29), stock ROM, no root, ...
I think it's because it is close to the edge of the screen.
I haven't tried without the factory screen protector though, or any screen protector.

I dont use any screen protector and even the factory one. Using Gboard. No issue here. Some phone case will intefere your touchscreen. Because its too close to your screen.
Gboard cant use with 2fingers at the same time
Actually i have the same problem with gboard, its not all the time, but its often enough for being annoying. No screen protectors, not even factory one. I am using the original huawei textile case though. But ive always felt that my thumb hits on the wrong angle and does not press A correctly.
