Dear All brother
I just want to flash back to stock rom and unroot my P970 like initial status. Is there any tools or method to do so?
It's very simple, just follow the Tutorial: LG P970 (P970H) unbrick/flash using SmartFlash Tool and install whatever version of firmware you had initially, you can find V10 firmwares on the Firmwares LG P970, P970H thread.
If you want to get to the official V20 firmware, just upgrade your phone using the LG program (the one that came on the CD with your phone).
This way you'll have an "official ROM" on your phone and it won't be rooted either (it's just like it came "from factory").
Btw, you'll loose the root and the recovery functionality, but i think that's what you wanted in the first place
EDIT : replaced Samsung with LG, i was reading up on modifying my Samsung Spica and somehow mixed up the postings

Hello,
I have an LG P500H that according to the settings menu is currently on Android version 2.2
I've read in countless places that this device is eligible to be upgraded to an official 2.3. Through the LG support tool a notice displays there is an available update which im assuming is the 2.3 itself.
My question is with regards to rooting. I have located a thread about rooting this device on 2.2 firmware but nothing specifying any process for 2.3. If I root on 2.2 my assumption is I will lose my root once I upgrade. How would I go about rooting this device on official 2.3 firmware.
Thanks to everyone for reading.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here I will list the only post I've found referencing this involving rooting through ADB. Can anyone confirm? Or suggest a safer method to ensure success with no issues? The post is as follows:
The LG Optimus One P500 is the one of the best budget Android phones around. Now it can be updated to Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread, then the purpose of writing this article is to help you to root stock gingerbread in an easy way. LG Android Phones
How to root Android 2.3 Gingerbread on LG Optimus One P500:
1. Read everything first and after do what is necessary:
What Is ADB and How To Install It With Android SDK, please go to here.
INSTALLING ANDROID SDK ON YOUR WINDOWS PC from here)
Don’t forget to restart your PC after installations. LG Phone Problem and Solution
2. Download and install SuperOneClick. You can download the tool from here.
3. In adb:
adb devices
adb shell
echo 1 > /data/local/lge_adb.conf
After that open SuperOneClick and root using pneuter. Reboot phone and update Superuser from Market.
This instruction works fine on my LG Optimus One, I had some problems updating superuser, kept force closing, but after restart, it works. hit thanks if this was useful for you.
EDIT: So I try to update software through LG support tool. The first screen of the tool checks the software and says there is an update available. Doesn't specify what version. When the option to start the update is selected the second tool launches and says device is not able to be updated. Another question would be what exactly is going on with that? and how to go about getting the official 2.3 on this P500H. Thanks.
This is ridiculous.
I check the TELUS website which is the carrier for my device. Turns out the only "update" listed on their end is 2.2.1 and the instructions stated my device needed to upgrade as I was running 2.2
So I go ahead and update my device and everything completes as the instructions stated.
Well, now the phone is stuck in a bootloop at the android logo and will not go further. Thanks TELUS.
Edit: Hard reset fixed this issue, now running 2.2.1. Getting really fed up with this so called official 2.3 that I can not seem to get. Anyone with answers please assist.
heres the official gb rom:

Thank you for the link. I looked over the thread and noticed that the post mentions v20g and v20c versions for download.
I'm guessing these are international versions as I have checked my phones About menu and noticed I have a software version listed as LG-P500H-v10s
How would this impact installing official 2.3 or is there anywhere I can acquire a version for my device.
Thanks
Doesn't really matter which one you use
V20c is unbranded, don't know about v20g.
Would it be correct to say that the reason I cant get this software update through the LG Support Tool or on my Canadian carriers website is because it isn't offered at this time by my specific carrier?
Therefore its been put out mainly to international carriers, hence why I would have to use an unbranded generic firmware? Just wanted to inquire so that when I complete the flash I'm fully educated as to which version I'll be using. Does anyone happen to know if NFC (near field communication) is supported in this unbranded version?
EDIT: Just to add. There appears to be a notice at the bottom of the page mentioning no 2G/3G data - wait for new release. Is this relative to the official 2.3?
So I am experiencing much lag on the 2.2.1 firmware that I am currently running ton this P500H for these reasons I will be attempting to flash to the official 2.3 in hopes of better performance.
Looking to clarify some instruction from the OFFICIAL LG GB thread listed in one of the responses. The tutorial states to flash "the russian way" and provides a HOW TO for using the LG DMP tool. In the tutorial the method says "This HOWTO is for users who want to switch from stock LG 2.3.3 ROM to CM7 or other older ROMs that are NOT based LG's on v20 ROM or vice versa"
My question with the statement is how does it impact the fact that Im on a stock 2.2.1 not flashing to a CM7 or vice versa. Which baseband would I be using as I am not sure what exactly this 2.3 is based on and I am running a v10s.
My guess is I would download the second baseband file in the thread listed as "- P500-v20G-baseband.7z is for official v20[abdg....] ROMs and ROMs based upon it (e.g., GingerLOL, v20G stock ROM, customized v20G ROM, 0x0v3rfl0w ROM and GingerCriccoROM)." and then flash the v20g 2.3 firmware.
If anyone can elaborate so that I dont brick this device when flashing
Another part of the article says "Eventually, all new ROMs will switch to new baseband by default, so it is useful as well if you want to avoid the complete KDZ/Russian way flash which wipes everything." Would this mean flashing "the russian way" with .kdz file would mean not having to change the baseband in the LGDMP tool. Kind of like an all in one solution instead of a drawn out process? I found a post with instructions for KDZ updater but dont have a file for 2.3 android to flash. What is the suggested method and steps? If anyone can clarify
Move this to General section..!!
Guess this should be in the General section and not in development..
Theres a kdz file of europe and russian version on xda.. search for it.. flash it usin kdz and you are done.. you get new baseband and then root using superoneclick.. you will lose your data.. but you can back it up using titanium backup.. flash recovery n den you are ready to use any of the new custom romz.. they perform well in quadrants.. not as much as those developed by our heroes like mik andy and all.. but for a stock rom those values are good.. i reverted back to miks cyanogenmod for itz performance.. anyway, if you want a stable, ALMOST bug free rom, go in for stock 2.3.3... there are minor bugs.. like status bar icons not alligned and stuff but you can manage with it...
works perfectly
how do i check what the region code for my lg optimus 2x so i know what is the original fw i need to put my phone back to stock just in case
im on the miui rom now so i cant really check what the fw is on the phone right now
all i know is that it miui says
baseband : 1035.21_20110725
Hi,
I think you can get your original stock lg rom by either download the LG Mobile Support Tool, follow the upgrade process, and it will automatically identify which region and rom you are supposed to have, right down to customized carrier roms (if any).
There is also links to download the update file manually, kdz file where you can flash to your phone, someone already posted the link, and there will be a part of the link (LG official links of course), where you need to manually insert your imei and download your specific rom. I read it somewhere here on xda but can't seem to find it yet.
Do it at your own risks. Im not responsible if anything happens.
Cheers!
To get mine back to stock, I smartflashed any old 2.2 ROM, then used LG Mobile Updater to update to 2.3.4, and as mentioned above, it knew which one it needed to install.
If you want to know specifically, use this link http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=
add your IMEI number after the =

Answering your question, I don't have service with a company in the U,S,A, anymore. Now I'm here just on vacations. I just purchased this Thrill without testing a sim card (I won't pay that expensive roaming from my overseas carrier). I plan to unlock it and use it there.
Thanks for the above link but... will this work on a Thrill (not optimus 3d)? I haven't tried the custom ICS yet, I would like to if it doesn't have those problems with the 3d camera. Can I move from the rooted Official ICS (no CWM) to the custom ICS?

I don't think the 3D camera is fixed on any of the custom ones yet. I haven't checked in a bit, but from the last one I tried it wasn't. You're probably going to have to use CWM or TWRP to flash the custom ICS ROM as well.
The LG Optimus 3D and the the LG Thrill are essentially the same phone. The LG Thrill is the US version of the Optimus 3D. Those instructions will work with your phone. If you would like to install CWM you can use the following instructions to install the recovery.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1859662
The download link is for the .apk file and is best downloaded from your phone, if that is possible. You need to be rooted for this to work. I am using the following ROM on my LG Thrill with excellent service.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1956347
If you decide to use that ROM or one of the other Custom O3D ROMS, you will need a baseband called "LGP920AT-00-V18a-AMA-XXX-OCT-28-2011+0_CP.fls" to work in the US, found here

When you take the phone back overseas, you will need to change the baseband to one that works for your area. You can determine which one you need in this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1958484
You can obtain whichever baseband you choose, from the same place you got the previous one.

Hello. I was wondering when installing one of these basebands would you flash it in cwm?

No. You have to install the baseband and the original ICS port through lg flash tool if you are updating from gingerbread. If you already installed ICS then all you have to do is install the baseband through the same tool. But if you are flashing only the baseband, when it finishes it's going to say invalid ap path. When it tells me this, it flashed my baseband, but it normally has an AP (in this case, ICS) along with the CP (normally the baseband) which is why I think it gives this error message. So you can just restart your phone.
Hello, I'd like to update my phone using Smartflash.
I have an official V20B rom which is rooted. I would like to install a new official rom but i'm completely lost when it comes to choosing the right version !
Where can I get the official V20S stock rom (which can be installed with smartflash)
Also, is there any official ICS rom ? (same, for smartflash), if so, is it fully stable ? Where can I get it ? (LG Mobile update says my phone is up to date... Huh)(I have read that you need to change the boot partition or something like that with ICS roms, is it valid for official ICS roms from LG too ?).
Do I have to unroot my phone before installing a new rom with Smartflash ?
Thanks.

1. Make sure that you have P990.
2. V20B should be a gingerbread.
3. If you read one post below yours, you could’ve find exactly what you ask official ICS for smartflash.
Cheers.

I actually have V10B sorry !
I will update via LG Tools with the kdz instead of smartflash. Is there anything to do specifically to keep my data in the phone or is it saved automatically in the LG Tools update process ?
Thanks

I think updating via LG Tool doesn't erase data on your phone... however I would strongly advise you to synchronize your contacts with gmail and backing up you apps with titanium backup in an external sd card.
Update via LG Tool didn't erase my data when I went from 2.2 to 2.3

Recently i updated my LG Black to 4.0.4, using LG's Mobile support tool. After upgrading, i decided that i don't like ICS on the LG Black, and wish to go back to gingerbread. I've tried googling around, but cant find instructions on how to do it.
Does someone know of a method that doesn't use CWM Recovery.
Regards
Andrew

You'll a GB ROM image (factory).
I'm not sure what else.
I'm guessing that you'll:
- Need to unlock to bootloader
- Use a tool like smartflash to install the GB ROM
I'd read thoroughly through: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1111771
I'd do a search in this forum for "downgrade", "factory". I wish I could be of more help, but I've never personally downgraded a phone to factory.
