New section in xda for the new Galaxy Ace - "GT-S5830i "

I yesterday bought the galaxy Ace, to my surprise it wasn't the original s5830 it was s5830i. So I thought we should make a new section for it's android development.
The ROM's for s5830 don't work on s5830i because it has new chipset.
We need to get dev's to try and create a custom ROM for s5830i
I had been so waiting to flash ICS on my Ace...... but my dream got shattered just because of an ' i '

But actually the idea is good...
The samsung galaxy s2 i9100 also got a section for i9100G develpoments

Making custom rom based on stock is not that hard. I can create it in less than two hour. Problem is theres still no working custom kernel yet.

You can create custom ROM's in two hours ?
Hey if you can create a custom ROM in less than 2 hours, how many days or months to create the kernel ?

First he would need the Device, them numerous testing and the risk of bricking quite easily

He will need a device to test the kernel. But if he gets hold of one he will be up with a kernel within a day or two..

we definitely need a category for ”s5830i” , since all the Galaxy Ace models in the electronic shops are now the ”s5830i” ones, instead of the ”s5830”.

there is one deodexed rom by raj rocks .. it is fully working without bugs search for it on xda

GUYS there are many many threads for the s5830i on xda and s5830i users are increasing day by day and we were able to make a booting kernel but it is still not fully working, and btw u can make custom roms without custom kernel.

i saw the rom by raj rocks...it is quite promising and confirmed working by many.
however i couldn't install it as odin wouldn't flash DDLA2 with my s5830i...it just stops on "Setup Connection" and then nothing happens, i stopped kies from task manager, used different usb port and usb cables (even different odin's) but nothing happens..and when i start odin on the top it shows "Android+SLP" instead of phone's name and COM box is yellow which means phone is connected...
However Team Cooper now have just released a custom rom for s5830i, it's in alpha stage but is bug free and beta version will be up in 2 days with additional tweaks and more versions are too come..

No! But custom ROMs are always there for you. Maclaw's CM9 is based on original ICS.

It can be. But Samsung won't provide it. Maclaw had made a CM9(ICS) build which works perfectly 95% but flashing it will void your warranty!

Go to the Dev section, look for [ICS] tags in the threads.
Currently the camera does not work on any ics builds, this may be fixed in the future. If you do decide to flash make sure you read the instructions on how to flash in the rom thread.
Samsung will never provide an official ics.

Where have you been bro? Lagloose and some members (i think) of galaxyICS team already made a patch for cam. although it has no preview. And OP, official ICS, NO Unofficial ICS, WIP already, almost perfect

it can b upgraded via cm9 as said b4 ....but since u ahve bought your phone recently u may want to check the model no ... the roms here are mainly for GT S5830 not its variants like GT S5830i ....if your phone is GT S5830i then the roms wont work for you

Well since broadcom is looking into the rom of the Y or Ace (not sure which one, because the topic was about ace, but was posted in Y Section) It is probably going to have full CPU and GPU Drivers

Well let's hope so, so we can get CM7.2 on this baby? Also the broadcom guy just posted a new reply to that topic.
Any developers from here care to go over and offer what info they can to help speed this along or whatnot? He asks about the "Y" in his latest reply, if the sources are released will the devs be able to use them for CM7.2 for our S5380i?

you have to read a little more of Galaxy Ace "S5830" S5830 Young Galaxy and have the same CPU, same GPU, videocam IV .. totally the same drivers, the only thing that has more Galaxy Ace S5830 is a flash and other veicina screen 320 x 480 pixels, 3.5 inches ... I use Ace S5830 And talking with Broadcom to release some of the drivers that are essential, Broadcom seeks solutions to dismiss some of the drier gpu, to Mogo to create CyanogenMod, AOKP, AOSP ... and I understand for a lot more applications ... A full drivers for the GPU will come out a little later...

Yes.

Yes, I think they will only need to be replaced LCS Density from 120 to 160. or in the extreme case, to update and to add some more oddatak .. The whole system is done everything works great, but we can not be installing, means You can not get to the entrance, squardzone tested and missing his only got one driver ... look at the dialogue I think there you have everything else you need

will we able to see ICS or JB?

Sure, but they will run like ass? Our phones are not powerful. I will be happy with CM7.2

Cm9 & cm10 works perfectly on 5830. I hv used it. No lags. Then y do u say it wont work on this fone?

And on paper our Gpu is powerful..If it works well then cm7 should be the first step.

CM9 & CM10 Work Perfectly on galaxy GIO too. And apart from a greater PPI value, galaxy gio is lesser in sepcs as compared to Ace-i. I also think (And Hope) CM9 & 10 should work like a charm on 5830i as well in the near future. :good:

Specs do not matter much to run CM9/10. But you need good specs to run it smoothly. Even HTC G1, the first android phone, has Jelly bean but it lags.
Availability of drivers for chipset matters the most.

This is old news.
It just means that they wont officially support snapdragon s1.

It means cyanogen wont provide a official CM9 for our device. But developers here can make a port or tweak it to run in our device once all sources regarding the CPU/GPU/kernel are available. :beer:

He think he meant that we should also support them as much as we can....so that broadcom really feels that there is an urgent need for the sources.

You can't. Though s5830 & s5830i sound a lot similar, they are equally distinct in their own sense. Either you can port a rom & flash or you can try the existing ones. Tough luck dude...

Our ace is a noob when it comes to graphic & gaming. Ya, you can try many low end games but high end games is outta question. But I've heard people running fifa 12 on s5830 but I know nothing about s5830i & since I don't do much of a gaming, I doubt any further useful support by me in this regard... Sry..

i have a Galaxy ace S5830I obviously as im posting in this forum and would like to know how i can change my Boot animation
i really like the Cynanogen mod 9 one but dont know where and how to install/download it...
i have a rooted phone and its running its Stock Rom, all i really want to do is customise my Bootlauncher

Ok. So ive found my bootanimation files in my phone but they're all .QMG files how do i make my .Zips become .QMG so i can change my boot???

We don't have even a Cm7. Broadcomm don't release the drivers needed for it yet. But there's an alpha version ported from galaxy Y, not usable, just for testing. But don't worry, devs are working on it
Well about the boot animation thing, you can't change it on stock because it this galaxy doesn't use zip files for It but qmg type file. You will need to flash a custom rom that support zip. I use RazoDroiD by rajrocks and it's pretty smooth
