Captivate Issue Please Help - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys I just got my Samsung Captivate I wanna use as a backup and well I think I already bricked it. Ive had a Samsung Captivate for a year and I never had this problem but now i am.
I used the AIO Captivate Toolbox and wanted to install the 3 button fix. So I go into Odin and put the PIT and PDA files where they should be and everything goes fine and it even says it passed but now its not turning on at all and it wont respond to a jig either.
i hope someone can help me but im fearing the worst.

AIO toolbox was taken down because the "3 button fix" bricks phones that already have gingerbread bootloaders. i guess.. you could say 3 button fix is included in gingerbread bootloaders.
as the 3 button fix only flashes 1 of 2 bootloaders and was only needed for the VERY first batch of captivates, and was RARELY ever needed although hundreds of people un-needingly flashed it... and still couldnt figure out why they couldnt get 3 button combo to work ( noob error is why).
once the gingerbread bootloader came out, 3 button fix was removed EVERYWHERE possible because it was bricking phones. and if a phone has gingerbread bootloaders it DOES NOT need the 3 button fix.

The phone was on stock firmware though. So I'm guessing my phone is hard bricked?

^ Which Stock ??
If u have zero signs of life (even when u plug it in to charge) ...then yep u r hard bricked.
If u r on xda while on a pc, check out my signature link below for suggestions/links for "Repair".

The thread is there explaining what needs to be done, but unless you have good soldering skills you will need to pay someone to do it.

Yea I know I'm pissed off at myself for costing myself another 40 bucks the first day I get it but I guess that's how it goes

It's a mod well worth the money however. I had it done to a previous captivate and I regret so much having to turn it in for warranty.

you probably dont have the 3 button combo, if your phone works, you can fix this using a program called 'Odin'

Where are all the bricked devices?

I was about to do my tech support rounds like I usually do once per week and provide some support in the "I bricked my device" threads.... But there are none.. Every week about 1 in 3 active threads were along the lines of "Black Screen, odin won't flash", or "help, my Cappy wont turn on".......
Did UnBrickable Mod clean this forum up or are people just not flashing anymore? Is everyone using Heimdall one-click? Either way, it's pretty cool that this problem does not appear to exist anymore.
Lol just cause there is a lull for a week doesn't mean the issue is resolved. just wait, there will be more. I guarantee it.
Not to say your work isn't doing any good, it is. Genius work. But there will always be people who don't read everything and/or are brand new to flashing and make mistakes, not to mention connection issues while flashing boots.
Keep up the good work, i'm sure there will be more bricks for you to rescue
I'm unbrickable!!!its so great!

Honestly, I have made just about every noob mistake that can be made over the last 3 weeks and have yet to get myself to a point where I couldn't get the phone in to DL mode. I can't imagine what some of these people must do to get them completely crapped out.
haha thats funny cause i bricked my device last thursday and got the download dongle on monday. but did you say there is a mod that makes it unrickabe?
I think people are becoming smarter and more cautious about flashing bootloaders for no reason.
Here, fix this instead...

Just flash a stock rom and wipe your data. That's all!
Try giving a good title. Writing urgent wont make it. You have to give a clue of your prob so that people here could easily know if they could help or not.
Hope that helps. Just sharing what I learned from posting on XDA.

I dont know much about unlocking so you better read about that. I cant link Jailbreaking and flashing together. I think it won't.
Well you have read about flashing then.

I don't think it's bricked... Pull the battery and wait for about 5 seconds and try holding the power button + home. U should be able to get to recovery mode.

Hey guys, I'm having big problem and can't go to sleep

try this to see if your phone can be forced to boot up..
remove the battery from phone
connect the phone to pc, and when the pc beeps put the battery right away..
I tried it on my mini since it can't powered on a few days ago. and it worked.

Doesn't matter if it beeps or not actually, my PC didn't beep too when I plug the phone but I just put the battery back on and it booted.
I'm afraid your mini is indeed bricked.
You can try a USB jig or "Jtag (correct me if I'm wrong)..

Dude its expensive (about 150 $)
And it might not work . just send it to Samsung repair center and they will fix it for a cheaper price .
N.B : I did that , my phone got bricked too and as u can it is working .

To me, it looks like it needs to be sent back to Samsung. See if you can get it fixed under warranty, if not you'll have to pay. Good luck.

Hi dheeraj, is it possible that an empty or totally dead battery could prevent your phone from "memorizing" the flashing you do with Odin, so to send the device always in boot loop? I'm asking this since I'm having the same problem that the user who opened this thread has described, even if with a GT-S6500. It can only go into download mode, but not into recovery mode (could it be soft bricked?). I don't know what the previous owner did, but I'm trying to resurrect the phone. Thanks in advance for your help.

thought your problem got solved
no it cannot happen that without battery the memory would be washed out as it is written on a storage kind of device
what you can do is just flash a four package firmware through odin (phone, pda, csc etc. slots filled)
let the phone reboots on it own, after rebooting the mobile will automatically go into stock recovery and will do some processing and you would be done
