finally found a way to root my LG 2x P990.
superoneclick did not work for 2.3.4
neither did gingerbreak.
what did work was a program called unlock root 1.2
just thought i would share
Thanks
SuperOneClick v2.3.3-ShortFuse worked for my P990. Although it could be necessary to remove your microSD-card. Don't know why but it helps.
Thanks for the sharing
Hi,
Finally, I was able to root my LG O2X easily using Unlock Root, been searching for root method for my O2X after upgrading to 2.3.4, luckily I able to found one after all...
now I got my Superuser apps there with the root access, so I am up to higher level mods for my O2X
Thanks for the sharing
BTW, for those looking for the apps, here is the link: unlockroot.com
yeah. for some reason 2.3.4 GB. wouldnt get past step #7 no matter what i tried using superoneclick 2.3.3
first time bang done on "Unlock Root 1.2"
good to know right.
Thanks, Gingerbread 2.3.4 stock ROM with SpuerOneClic 2.3.3.0 said it rooted but it wasn't.
Tried unlocked root 2.2.1 and worked perfectly.

SuperOneClick.

Desktop app that seems to work with EVERY firmware version I've tried.
Alternatively, flash one of the custom kernels from the i9000 dev forum. For example, I've flashed SpeedMod which includes root as well as the recovery fix.
Yeah, I met the same problem, once I upgraded to official 2.2.1 JPY. Unfortunately, since Z4root doesn't work anymore, there is no easy way to root it without computer.
Seems like super one click is the best option so far.
Plus, you might be aware as well, adfree can't support i9000 2.2.1. :-(

Thank you, with SuperOneClick it worked .
I'm Root again.
I could not get SuperOneClick working on my Dutch SGS. I regained root on 2.2.1 with CF-Root-XX_XEU_JPY-v1.3-BusyBox-1.17.1.
Just pushed it in using Odin, no problems so far.
Do you know of any rooting method aside from cf-root? superoneclick did not work for me. Alternatively how to root using cf-root without the cwm and just simple root/superuser?
have you tried GingerBreak?
I haven't used it but I guess it might work

The latest superoneclickroot has gingerbreak integrated. Did not work....I don't know about the command line method. I might try later.
superoneclick gingerbread rooting worked fine for me. I was on the 1st gingerbread released - stock rom 2.3.3 by chainfire...

I think the reason why the first GB-the Italian version was pulled out of samsung servers was because it was easy to hack/root. Now the official Asian GB has problems with rooting because they learned from the Italian version and put something on the later release to make it difficult to root.

Well, as I did it on a SGS2 and not on a Galaxy tab, I don't know if the same applies to the former. However, I experienced difficulties with SuperOneClick which I successfully worked around doing the following:
First of all, if you have .NET Framework 4.0 installed on your PC, try downgrading it to .NET 3.0. Reboot. Another thing, try SuperOneClick v. 1.5.5 (which uses rage-against-the-cage) instead of the newer ones (which use either gingerbreak or psneuter). Then, start SuperOneClick before connecting the phone (which must be on usb debugging mode, of course!). When SuperOneClick says it is "waiting for device" then connect the phone and let it do its job.
For me, it didn't work at the first try, as it got stuck at some point. However, after a huge measure of persistence, which included several trials using the mentioned procedure, I've succeeded. As since then I've upgraded my ROM twice, the process had to be done twice again, and the persistence was necessary to succeed in both. Don't give up too early: persistence is the key. At least it was in my case.
Good luck !
PS.: I also could only succeed using Chanfire's XWKDD insecure kernel, even with newer firmwares (KE1 and KE7). I don't know why, but KE1 and KE7 insecure kernels didn't work for me using SuperOneClick.
where can I get the old version like Superoneclick 1.5.5? I tried googling but could not find link....or please provide copy of your file?
thanks!
Unfortunately, as I'm new here in XDA forums, I'm not able to provide external links yet (website policy). However I was able to sent you the link via private message.
Good luck !
Unfortunately did not work for me.I think samsung have closed the exploit on this firmware - which was open on the Italian version.
i am trying to another way by the help of our good friends here
first and second attempt?

Romy, not to be ungrateful for your efforts to help. But have you succesfully done any of these on galaxy tab?

Mr. Bong,
3 attempt but not succeed, but i make another trick and i think you consider it,
i rooted it with cf and what you have said the audio in bootanimation gone, then i flash again with original kernel from gb stock by our kabayan noxxoius and the audio back again
first photo after cf, then after original kernel

doing this procedure disables the tweaks app by chainfire as far as i can tell.. wasn't able to check the CWM app and the boot recovery.
yes,
i just check it i thought if the su, cwm ,tweak apps are available in the phone it is already rooted and i check also in adb some commands not allowed/permitted
ahhhh i thought am got the right path
back to grade one

has anyone tried it on this device?
No, but I don't see why it shouldn't work.. But we don't really need it since we can root in other ways.

If you just use the right version of superoneclick ( v 2.1.1 ) and then select exploit method gingerbreak, you can root this device.
I did this yesterday, after the v20L crap update...
I'm now back to cyanogen...
Or you can use nvflash method, always working, see thread in dev section, 'Root for dummies'.
The method you point is based on Revolutionary stuff which is quite specific to certain partition and mount frames, not sure at all it will work here, as LG hasn't the same bootloader policy (one if the very few good thing in LG, opened bootloader, on the contrary of HTC, Samsung and others).
Hi all,
I have a notification from AT&T that I can now update my Froyo Captivate to Gingerbread.
I am currently rooted (Even if rooted, I am not using any custom roms.. and I don't seem to need any.. I am happy with what has come with Cappy. I rooted it just to sideload the apps as it comes disabled in Froyo by default)
My question is: If I use the Kies and update my Cappy to gingerbread, will I be able to sideload the apps as I do it now?
As I am rooted, will it create any problem updating it to gingerbread using Kies?
I just updated to gingerbread yesterday using kies mini, and after I did the "Allow Installation from non-Market Sources" was visible. I think thats all you need for sideloading. You will lose the Root, but like you said you don't need it.
I'm not sure if beeing rooted will affect kies, I was on a custom rom so I used a oneclick back to stock and then kies
thanks t-roth for the response. How is your experience with new stock GB?
Does anyone knows if I am rooted, I can directly go to the Stock Captivate GB using the Kies Mini

If your rooted phone can connect to Kies, you can install the update.
Thanks Bruce. I will try that out..
Probably the last question. Am I going to see huge performance change moving from Froyo to GB?
I was rooted and Kies had no issue with my phone being so. It left me root-less after the fact, and I felt naked. The number one reason you SHOULD want to be rooted is to get rid of the freaking still-born garbage AT&T thinks we should endorse and like. As far as actual side-loading...I was unable to get the Sideload Wonder Machine to work. But I didn't sweat it because I quickly sought Root. Some of the more powerful utilities require root, but for the casual user, you probably won't want to be messing about in system folders anyway.
You say you "quickly sought root", but did you find it. I tried the 2.3.5 upgrade and as noted it left me able to load non-market apps ok but I was root-less. I haven't been able to root the KK4 upgrade and since I live and die with my Root Explorer and TI Backup I NEED the root. Z4 Root wouldn't work and neither would any of the 3 versions of Super 1-Click that I have (1.6.5, 2.1.1 & 2.3.1). If you were successful, what did you use?
I think it depends on how you enabled the side loading of apps. I'm not on the official gingerbread but that's what I think.

I tried and tried to find a way to root my Lg Thrill 4G. I tried all of the options on the thread "Thrill 4G SuperOneClick 2.2 (EASY ROOT)", but I was still unable to root my phone. Here are the specs for my phone and the steps I took to successfully root my device:
Model Number: LG-P925
Android Version: 2.3.5
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7+
Build Number: GRJ90
Software Version: LGP925-V20p-FEB-22-2012
I found a forum with a windows command (CMD) program that rooted my phone. I can't post the link because I am still a junior member here.I found the link on theunlockr. I have attempted to attach the file below.
All credit goes to VulnFactory. All I did was find this. I take no credit or responsibility for the program. AS I HOPE EVERYONE ALREADY KNOWS, ROOTING YOUR PHONE VOIDS YOUR WARRANTY, AND YOU RUN THE RISK OF BRICKING YOUR PHONE IF YOU ATTEMPT TO ROOT. NEITHER I NOR VulnFactory ARE LIABLE IF YOU BRICK YOUR PHONE AFTER USING THIS PROGRAM.
I made sure I had the current LG drivers installed, disabled the LG Modem device in the Windows Device Manager, Enabled USB Debugging in my phone, and ran the program with my phone powered on and connected to my laptop. The program did the rest (and it did take a while).
I now have SuperUser permissions and am able to install apps such as SetCPU and Titanium Backup.
I hope this helps someone like me out there who had no idea how to overcome problems with superoneclick for the LG Thrill. I tried superoneclick 2.1, 2.2, 2.2.1, and 2.3.3 and had no sucess. I kept getting stuck at step 7 of the shell root process. This worked for me and I hope it works for you too.
How did u update the lg thrill to gingerbread
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda app-developers app
