U have to partite your sd card before u run Link2Sd because link2sd doesnt create it,recommnd you to use Minitool Partition Wizard, very easy to use.

Try creating mount script in different format with link2sd. Ext2, ext3, fat32 one will work.

Try manually editing the mount script.
I don't really remember where the link2sd mount script was created for stock roms without /init.d i think it was in a file called init.d at the root of the phone or system/ or system/etc.
Look it up, open it as text, locate the link2sd mount script.
The part where it says 'mount -t ext3 -o rw /dev/block' change 'ext3' to 'ext4' in all lines required, reboot. Check link2sd again to see if it worked.
Otherwise, enable the system/etc/init.d address by flashing cf-root or flash a custom rom.

Are you sure about having a kernel with init.d support? Without it, script can't be mounted.

Link2sd doesn't need /init.d, only root and partitioned sd to work.

You mean this is some kind of external storage, which the system recognize like internal memory.

Ok, I've created the partitions in CWM, flashed my rom again with factory reset, vie Settings -> Performance -> Memory managmet -> A2SD I set ti to A2SD, gave the system root access, rebooted the phone and the sd-ext partiton is not mounted. I've installed the link2sd app, and choose ext3 partition, which is set by CWM, and the app say
Can't mount: Invalid Argument
Your system maybe not supporting ext3 or somthing like that.
So how to mount the damn sd-ext partitions.
P.S. I've tried via terminla with df | grep sdext3 no luck.

Or ext4, maybe there is issue with ext3 partitions and this rom. I've read an article that said that, ext4 partitions are not well supported, ext2, ext3 are supported with most of the roms
Edit: Now I saw that after reboot, A2SD is set back to none. Maybe I am having the superuser issue. I've flashed the fix, and will try again.

then try ext2
As I know CWM (in ics and jb kernels) creates ext4, so choose ext4 in link2sd and it should work fine.

Go to cwm recovery -> mounts & storage -> format sd-ext (It will format your second partition in ext3 format)
Reboot the phone and open link2sd and select ext3 as your second partition. If it still gives error go to more options in link2sd and recreate mount script and select ext4 and reboot phone
For full space problem, uninstall some unnecessary apps from /system and /data or move apps to sd card using Link2Sd

CWM Recovery v5.0.2.6 should have this option. I'm looking at it right now. Right below format /sdcard & Right Above mount USB Storage option is the option format /sd-ext
Anyway if you still can't find it in cwm, use minitool partition in windows to format the sd-ext partition in ext3 format. Link2sd has some issues in Jellyblast ROM in my experience. But it was solved for me by the method i explained to you in my last post. Also verify if you have got the latest version of link2sd.
Most importantly, please note that link2sd will only detect ext2 format if you are on stock kernel. It will detect ext3 & ext4 formats only if you are on Rafael's kernel

i have my ace running with a stock rom again since my wife is using it.
I have rooted the phone and flashed px recovery. After that, I wanted link2sd to mount the ext4 partition but whatever I try: nothing works.
when I try to mount ext 3 or ext 4 in link2sd I get this message: can't mount: no such device
when I try to mount ext2 I get this message: invalid argument
I have repartitioned and formatted both partitions already a dozen times. why can't link2sd mount this ext 4 partition?
i created the partitions using minitool partition wizard. After I placed the sd card back into my phone, I rebooted into px recovery, mount the sd-ext and formatted sd-ext, and after that, link2sd still gave the same errors.
How can I get Link2SD working?

I forgot that stock rom can't work with ext 4. Changing file system to ext2 worked for me and solved the problem (for now).

Are you sure Link2SD works well on stock rom? Because last time I checked it doesn't work well on roms without init.d support. I myself couldn't get it to work on stock rom. It crashed most of the time. Do post the result.
Hello friends,
i tried two roms for galaxy Ace, one is The Ultimatum V4 which is now i am running , and second one is Cynogenmod 10.1.6 which is awesome but very slow. The thing i noticed is , i have a partition in my sd card with ext2 format so when i use The Ultimatum V4 the ext2 is automatically detecting as internal storage like in ace we have only 200mb around as internal but it is showing the ext2 space included with that, So how can i do the same with Cynogenmod 10.1.6 so that ext2 partition can be used as internal storage, so that i can use freely the rom without any strucks.
Please say me how to use EXT2 partition of sdcard as internal memory automatically in Cynogenmod 10.1.6 .
Thanks.

Its simple actually. Just flash CronMod script (try INT2EXT+ as it is the most stable of all) from CWM. Make sure to have an ext partition of maximum size 1GB (anymore and the system will lag). Here is the link,
CronMod-INT2EXT
Hope I Helped
Thanks buddy, i m trying on i just kep 600mb as ext2, so it will solve my problem of lagging CM 10.1.6, and ext2 is best or any other format should i do..

Usually when you create a ext partition from CWM, its in ext3 format. But CronMod works well on ext2/3/4. Its upto you

Can you check if there is a file named 40int2ext in your /system/etc/init.d? Also was your ext partition in ext2 type?
There are only 00banner and 90userinit file in /system/etc/init.d location , the file 40int2ext is not ther. When i try to copy that file readonly message displaying.

It means that flashing was not successful. There are 2 ways to do it,
1. Go to CWM> Mounts & Storage> Mount /system and then flash CronMod script. Finally format /sd-ext from Mounts & Storage and reboot. If you still can't find 40int2ext in /system/etc/init.d, then use the next method.
2. Using a root file manager change the permission of /system from R to R/W. Now simple copy the 40int2ext file to /system/etc/init.d/ and change the permission to rwx-rx-x. Done! Now reboot and it should work.
Hope it works

For some strange reason, I can't do this by just flashing my zip file, I had to manually copy and paste file into my system folder. Well this is the way if flashing didn't work out for you either

Yes, formatting /sd-ext is the last step. You should mount /system too as 40int2ext is placed inside /system/etc/init.d/.
