[THEME] Cobalt Theme for IceColdSandwich 7.0 AOKP - Desire HD Themes and Apps

Description: I had a request from master reiki over on Rootz to port the Cobalt theme over to the Desire HD. I did so and had him test it and so here it is. I'll continue to keep this updated as long as there is demand.
Contents: framework-res.apk, settings.apk, romcontrol.apk and systemui.apk have been themed. Status bar tinting was also removed. Weather added to status bar.
Thanks:
dustinb17 for the original Cobalt theme
mastersjef for Steel Blue theme parts
chopperthedog for the idea of the little G above the signal meter
Detonation for the data/signal separation mod
MrDSL for the 3G, 4G, 1X, data in/out graphics, media and some other toggles for the THS version
roman and his devs for AOKP
sbrissen, jt and all the other countless devs who make all of these things possible.
UrbanLegendary for the weather in the status bar.

do you know the height (in pixels) of the statusbar? would be awesome to make some custom statusbar backgrounds and simply add them into wallpapers

30 pixels, another (and probably the preferred) method would be to use zipthemer to change status_bar_bg_tile.png which is the file responsible for the statusbar image located in SystemUI.apk. Easier than modifying multiple walls as well.

Try it again, I made the proper edits so that the SystemUI.apk actually looks for that file, otherwise you are correct it wouldn't work. drawables.xml in the values folder of a decompiled SystemUI.apk has to be edited to make use of the aforementioned png file.

Love it, thankyou!

Gotcha, thats the one you put in the post above. By default its a color (black). I edited it to point to that file. You can update that file with zipthemer with a file of your liking or you can decompile the systemui.apk and edit that line to point to another file. Thanks for clarifiying.

The whole status bar is gone so I can't see any signal, battery or notifications. In that apk I just tried add the line for the status bar to look for the PNG instead of the hex color (black). Its got a few other mods like carrier logo and some custom icons but I haven't really touched any other .XML files. I think it would be best if I started with a fresh (stock) apk and try again so I'll do that lol. I just hadn't slept for 37 hours

EDIT:
OMG OMGABCDEFG
Its because i forgot to copy the META-INF folder into the new apk -_-. Lack of sleep is a bad thing

I really like both of those, #7 especially but minus the blue. I'll see what I can do, this may take a bit longer as there are a lot more apps involved such as the dialer but I'll take a look tonight for you!
Finally
This is beautiful, is there any way i could have this without the font change? If you don't want to make another version, how can I modify it myself to remove the font? Can I just unzip it and remove the fonts folder and zip it again?

You can do exactly that, just delete the fonts folder from inside the zip, just don't unzip it as you could run into problems from it.

Yea #7 is pretty sick! Thanks dude, any time and consideration towards this is much appreciated, and thanks again for this theme here!
I applied this theme over my existing theme (Emotionless Beast) but the lock screen stayed the TouchWiz version. How do I get that custom vanilla lock screen?
Edit: never mind, I realized that this theme just modifies the lock screen, it doesn't install the vanilla one. I flashed the vanilla lock screen, then flashed the theme again and all is good
this looks great, good job

Awesome, also, if I want to modify the status bar color, do I just change the statusbar_background.9.png in framework-res.apk? Aaaannd do I need to sign the apk file after I change it?

Lol correct. But you need to know how to edit .9.png's, there are guides on XDA just do a search ^. And no, you won't need to resign if you just delete the file in the .zip and then replace it with your edited copy. Make sure it isn't being compressed though.

- changed settings icon in notification menu

This is one of the best themes available!
I just wanted to say that. I love it. It reminds me of Matted Blues, just a little nicer (not that Matted Blues wasn't amazing).
I was using this for a day or so before I switched ROMs. I'm now on RASCREAM and there's no Theme Chooser so I can't download it.
However, if you get bored or something, you could always make a flashable version that works with rascream. >_>
no idea how
Me neither.
If you are interested in learning I would recommend sending fergie a PM. He makes his own flashable themes for various ROMs. I'm actually using his version of LunarUI for Rascream now. I'm going to start theming when I get my new laptop... but that's not for a while. =(
This is really great. I was wondering if you can tell me what apk did you use for your template.

yea, looked over a few guides in the android themes section, but you really don't need them too much.
mostly, just go into the drawable folders and edit the pngs there.
if you run into a couple that look 'distorted' with a black bg, open first in paint.net, save, and then open again in photoshop/the program you're using to edit images.
also need notepad++ to edit a couple xml files
theming is so fun!

Yeah can you tell me what are the main xmls you had to edit? I know colors.xml of course and drawable.xml but is there anything else. I can't seem to get the divider lines in the notification bar my color.
EDIT: Is there a way to add all the images you want changed and pick your color for one of them and they'll all automatically get changed to that color instead of doing it one by one?

^what you should edit.
theres might be a way to batch edit stuff, but haven't figured it out yet.
what i did was a set a photoshop action, so that i when i activate it it'll auto-edit the image. gets repetitive but better then doing one by one.

Swype does'nt allow the sharing of their app but i can share the files inside.
How to install:
Download the file
Decompile YOUR Swype.apk with your tool of choice (i recommend apkmanager).
Add the files from the download into the decompiled file. Follow the directories, e.g.
Copy "Icon.png" from
download\swype\res\drawable
to
apk_manager\projects\swype\drawable
Compile. (Answer no to system app if using apk manager)
Sign
Un install Swype from your device
Install new version
If you dont have Swype it is a free beta, just search Swype and register for it.
Mod Edit: Linking to warez is strictly prohibited by XDA.
Feel free to make requests for different colours, styles etc.
If you make a request please tell me the following if possible-
Colour/ transparency of btns.
Colour of trace.
Colour of background.
Square or rounded btns.
Btns beveled and direction of light.
Drop shadow.
Gradient and direction.
Keyboard icons color.
Try to post a link to something similar.
The more info you give me the esaier it makes my job.
Thank you.

Yeah i've no problem decompiling/compiling using 1.4.3, but it wont sywpe when the keyboard launches, which defeats the object of swype.
There are a few of us trying various things over on DJDarkknight's thread but it's looking like theyve implemented an anti theming system and locked it down, probably something in the smali with a random file name so we cant trace it.

Gingerbread Status Bar Spacing

I don't know if this should be posted here but I am creating an ics themed gingerbread rom and I was wondering if it is possible to decrease the spacing between the status bar icons to make it more ics like?
Sent from my N860 using XDA
use GIMP,and re size the canvas of the icons.Make sure the images are converted to RGB under images/mode before you make any changes. And make sure you click on the chain link so it doesn't change the canvas height.Another awesome app for modding icons on the go,is Photo Editor in the market. https://play.google.com/store/apps/...mNvbS5pdWRlc2suYW5kcm9pZC5waG90by5lZGl0b3IiXQ..
Thanks... so no xml editing involved? I've been looking everywhere for how to do this.... and I was told that there was a guide on here for how to do it but I haven't found one as of yet...
Sent from my N860 using XDA
No xml editing. you're just replacing/resizing images.i do a lot of mine on my phone.i use root explorer to extract and re zip my apks, and update folders that i modify with what ever contents, zip them then flash them. you should be able to push the system ui with a root explorer and set the permissions, but flash able zips are just easier. Also,if you are using icons from somewhere else, you dont want to just scale the image as is.
1.convert to RGB
2.autocrop your original icons to find their base size(you dont have to save it as cropped)
3.autocrop the new icons, and scale them to the same, bigger,or smaller size as your stock ones.
4.change the canvas size back 38 tall by how ever wide.
I think normal on most Gingerbread builds is 38x38 for status bar icons.
I need to do it as a batch operation... I have 200 battery icons and at least 60+ signal/3g/wifi icons

I don't know about batch operations on GIMP.You can search and see if there is a script available for batch operations. Im running Gummy rom on my Photon, and I did the 320+ battery icons, signal, data, and notification icons individually.Resizing wasnt nearly as hard on my hands and eyes as renaming/naming was:cyclops:
OK... ill give it a try

Thanks... so no xml editing involved? I've been looking everywhere for how to do this.... and I was told that there was a guide on here for how to do it but I haven't found one as of yet...

The only time you'll have to work around xml files,is with signal icons. like using a 4 bar icon in place of a 6 bar or visa versa. But then, you're just adding/taking away and renaming a couple of icons. some parts of the framework will require xml edits, but if thats the case, you can just run it through UOT kitchen first........ What kind of battery icons, and what size?
I already have the icons created... here is a pic...

looks good man! if you want some extra icons to work with,i can put some in a dropbox folder. ive resized a bunch.
That would be nice... I just finished resizing the canvases and the spacing didn't change all that much... anything else I can try?

Nah... I want it as stock ics as possible... the phone that I develope for doesn't have anything other than stock 2.3.5 and everyone is hungry for ics, cm9, etc... so I'm trying to give it to them the only way possible atm... I wish I could work on porting aosp but my computer is limiting and can't run Ubuntu efficiently.... and yeah... ill upload my framework and systemui so you can get whatever icons you want
Here are my systemui and framework-res apks... they are heavily themed

Built for
d3rpONE M1
This is not possible without ssojyeti2. He undertook the task of completely remaking the dusk icons for use on this device, as well as his ICS Dusk clock that I converted. Thanks to all in his OP, vin255764 particularly, Ajthescot for transparent home, and Aedon for stat bar clock that Gumby63 put together.
Should work with any Sense rom.
The only know notification icon missing is for Google Hangouts, because their new version is being problematic. It will be fixed as soon as possible.

put an image behind clock!
yes at one hour figures will be nice to find out how to do it
after flashing the moded theme and every thing, I've noticed that almost all the battery images ending in zero are not themed, I checked the apk and the right png's exist inside the SystemUI so why aren't they showing?
Sounds most likely that the custom battery and battery xml are missing. That isn't a known issue with the theme in this zip.
Are you flashing the unmodified zip over d3rpONE, or different set up?
Edit: from screen shot, it is modified... Make sure the custom battery xml is there.

Really awesome. My suggestion would be to change the clock font to match the battery's. Don't even know if that's possible. Really like it either way. Thanks!
Our maybe just un-bold it?

I found out some extra images as well as differences on the publix.xml, Phonestatusbarpolicy.smali, styles.xml and Statusbarexpanded.xml, so I replace the public.xml and left the other 3 alone since those were the ones i edited, oh! and replaced the whole drawable-xhdpi and drawable-xxhdpi, copiled, signed and flashed, now I need to wait until i reach 100% charge to see if i get the green or the custom image (96% now)
edit: No man, Don't know what else could be!
Those extra battery pngs will be there, no need to remove them. The ones that need to be replaced are with the theme.
All images are called from xxhdpi, if they are not, something else is wrong. You do have the custom battery and battery charge xmls, correct?

I think so, anyways I tried yesterday flashing your theme as is and got the same issue. Let me re-flash the ROM, apply your theme and see if in fact I did something to that SystemUI that breaks it
Edit: Ok solver404, after flashing rom then replacing just the 2 xml's and the smali, it worked, so i need to be careful now with what i flash!!
