Alright so the short story of it ...i was on darky`s rom then decided to go on MIUI, after that i decided to install my apps and games and all that , after installing backstab game it give me a Force close and i deleted the game, after reboot i still got the FC (but i dont think that has anything to do with the problem) then my phone after boot when hes doing all the SD scanning and stuff got stuck in the SD card scan process i think and then freezes, at first i thought its bc of the MIUI rom and after several tryes whipes and allot of that i changed to a JVT stock rom (and installed root and cwm) but still after i start my phone, the screen freezes and doesnt do anything.. but when i press home button or back button they both light up or when someone calls me it works ..onlly thing is , nothing happens on my phone i cant even see if i`m getting a call or anything, i hope somebody can help me with this and sorry for my english and for the unecesary information ..i just tried to explaine everything that happend. well i never realize the problem can be this simple and a memory card can do all this ....the problem was the card....all works fine now
I had a similar problem with the cell of a friend, after changing the external memory, no longer occurred

(i'm sorry to post my problem here in the development section but i guess it might be related to the lag fix)
My SGS is acting weird lately , dunno if its related to the lag fix ( [UTIL] One Click Lag Fix 1.0 - 2.0 ) ever since i got the phone with normal use iv never seen anything funny like this. it all started with lag fix version 1 , the phone was fast and with that fix even faster , the phone was all good started with the root as step 1, then it was the market fix, after that i was tempted to try the lag fix which was amazingly effective, went from version 1 to version 2 of it and then it started.
the phone took long to respond 'sometimes' when the screen was off and after a day the phone simply didnt want to get out of standby ( black screen ) so used the boot mode and formatted the phone , once the phone started i formatted the internal sd and rebooted and applied the Root-market fix-lag fix ver 1.0 in that sequence, now the phone seems a little weird . by weird i mean strange things r happening like when i goto the apps menu the icons move by them selves in a random way after a reboot. I set it up to show apps in the first couple pages followed by games , now its all messed up and i didn't mind it at all.
with my internet provider i really have to keep an eye on my 3g usage, and have been using 3g watchdog to keep track. now i notice everytime i restart or switch off / on the phone, the counter goes back to 0 which really gets on my nerves.
now to track the problem would someone point me in the right direction ?
could it be the lag fix ? could it be the program itself ? should i switch to another ? would i need a fresh flash ? my phone is working on eclair 2.1 version I9000JXJF1 , using kies since day 1 there has been no firmware update for the U.A.E and i dont want to risk updating to anything unless its official from samsung.
any help is much appreciatted ^_^
it's interestingly weird case.
i'll start by suggesting to wipe the cache data, and data in recovery mode or

i started with the first and then was like WTH and went with the second only to find out its the same procedure hehehe..... anyways phone is fresh now , started with rooting then off with lag fix 2.0 ( hope it dont get that same problem again ) . Now i notice there's no bootup logo when starting the SGS ( the swirling S ) but the sound still plays , is this normal ?

I had this exact same issue when I was using SetCPU. Uninstalled it and the problem was gone. Also some of the custom kernels are having wake-up lag.

Are you using LauncherPro? If so, this is common behavior and might also be so with other launchers. After booting up it will sequentially load your apps and that's why they will seem to popup in a random order bouncing about in the menu. After it's finished loading everything it will all be back to normal.

Seems to me that you had a problem with applying your lagfix and that the phone doesn't store your app-data properly.
My recommendation is to update to the JM5 firmware. It's the version that's been most tested with the lag fixes. I'm running JM5 with RyanZA's Lag Fix 2.0 and SamSet 1.9e (except kernel). It works like a charm and have done so for the past week. No wake-up lag, crashes or other weird behavior.

First boot will always take longer time and might also affect the sync between the sound and animation. It's normal!

i dont have SetCPU installed as i have tried it for a few days and found it useless , since i dont have the 1.2 ghz tune i dont see why i should even keep the app, yes i saw how the app messes with the phone so i removed it.

no im not using Launcher Pro and i could see how it would affect the arrangment of the programs but it wasn't that. My guess is it might probably be 1 of 2 , either titanium backup or Mybackup pro after restoring the data and not the apps.

Seems to me that you had a problem with applying your lagfix and that the phone doesn't store your app-data properly.
im guessing a maybe here since i dont know how it would affect my 3g watchdog's app or make it reset the counter, i switched to Network monitor ( not as good as 3g watchdog but it does the same job ^_^ )

just like i said id love to go that way but can wait a month or 2 till froyo joins the fun.

i hope its just a sync problem , but the phone gave up on the animation , after a couple of tries yea the logo simply isn't there anymore just the sound but i did notice a little faster boot up time this way with only a small vibration to indicate the phone has started.
i'll redo everything again 1 step at a time 1 app at a time , i'll delete my backups as i could do it just this time to get a good fix after a clean boot , and i guess i'll just stick with version 1 as i didnt see anything wrong with it so no need to jump to version 2 of the lag fix
could anyone tell me what app will back up all my sms/mms/call log without any trouble ? does titanium do that coz i looked everywhere and couldn't find anything regarding that

ok new discovery
using mybackup pro to backup all the sms's and mms's restarted after the restore and boom
what i see now is the old background from before the *2767*3855# method and the apps linked to homescreen from before , could it be the trouble maker ?
ok now im not gonna use it and test the whole procedure all over again
ok i guess thats it... even after a factory reset the logo wont show up again T_T
any tutorials on how to flash the original FW safely ? where could i find my original FW ? thing is i need arabic lang and doubt the JW5 has it built in anyways im off for now....... ~ spends the night googling~

JPJG8 off samsung-firmwares is very good, and has arabic support.

Hey guys...
I had Phoenix 4.5 VA Themed, than later with glass dialer mod and GO launcher EX...
but after awhile when I went to download apps from the market it just wouldnt download...
The screen kept at the download accept permission "ok" button screen... no loading bars or error pop ups or anything...
just plain idle screen
So I than went to my files and tried to install using apps in my folder...
well "My File" was missing and so was "TiBu".
So what else could I do?
I did a full restore and that didnt work so I did it again.
It didnt work.. the second time so I gave up but all of a sudden it worked...
so I DL go laucher ex and it worked...
yet again after an hour or so...
it stopped working....
is this a compatibility issue or my hardware issue?
any help will be really grateful.

Clearing the market cache usually fixes most of the problems you described. Go to settings, applications, manage applications, all, then scroll down to market. From there, I force close the market and clear the cache and clear data then reboot. Hope that helps.
I found out why....
GLE with their custom theme and my LWP raindrop was the problem.
When I got rid of the LWP it worked again....

yes i have done everything there is...
even went to stock and tried downloading...
it didnt work and than it started working...
all in all
i got fed up and returned it because mine fell in the "phone keeps resetting" range in the imei number or whatever......and got it replaced....=/

it works when i first turn it on through wifi without sim card....
but once i sign in with my sim card and sd card... it just doesnt want to DL or install anything...

Can the sim card be the cause of this problem?
I put 1 card in at a time and it doesnt work with the sim card in......
While noone seemed to want to give me any answers or help other than think its a cache thing...
I took my captivate in and told them to give me a new sim because of this problem and they did without asking anything else...
and it looks like it was the sim to cause the unable to install apps or download apps from the market...
So to those who might have a similar issue try getting a new sim card and see if that helps.

When I used Apps2SD and put all of the apps in SD
I take out my sd card and put it back in.
All the apps in the SD card do not show up and when I go to manage applications then to the on SD card tab.
They all show up but the words computing.... is below the app names and they arnt able to run...

Hey all, my 16gb sandisk sd card isn't being recognised anymore, anyone know why?
It says it read the SD card, and it got to 100% complete, yet my apps dont load to the menu list anymore :/

if so, move all files to PC, put SD card back in phone and try to format, if you cant format it under windows and try again
ok i connected it to my pc, copied everything over, then i formatted the card (fat32) and yet it still doesnt want to read it.
ive tried all i can do and yet nothing works. my card is 100% authentic so i know that isnt the problem, yet nothing else is fixing it

really? what custom roms? i moved from 2.2 to darkys 9.5 within a week, but then went to 2.2.1 for warranty reasons.
ive tried unmounting and remounting, just like inserting it, restarting the phone etc., all it says is media scan running, gets to 100%, media scan complete.
it says i have 8.56gb of 14.2gb free which is normal, and all the files come up on the computer, but in my menu they arent there, just a bunch of empty spaces.
no matter how long i leave it running nothing gets recognised

no i haven't tried a factory reset yet just cause i don't want to lose all my apps. i had 10 pages of apps and id rather not want to reinstall 8 of the missing pages, but if i cant fix it ill go into download mode soon and perform a factory reset, if that doesn't work i'm gonna exchange the card for a new one.
i'm 100% certain that no apps caused this. i haven't installed anything new for about a week. just turned the phone off then back on and now its broken.

Just finished flashing froyo 2.2, then 2.2.1 and neither worked.

i think the problem lies with the hardware not the software.
like you said earlier you tried another sd card and that didnt work either.
the options in a custom rom are just manually mounting / unmounting and fixing permissions in recovery, but i dont think this will help.
your on stock ROM now so i would just go to your nearest SSC and tell them to fix it under warranty

man i just had a fuking **** day as I asked here if everything is working great for everyone ... and users seems happy,, I installed the Rom. apocalypse on my new 32 Gb card and made. partition with cwm of 2gb did everything as said in instructions then got file Manager from market and installed amarrullz script ..... everything was fine got 2gb internal memory showed I was really happy first time things seemed to be going great for me than i even restored few of my backups through titanium backup and it worked fine now ...........
I was happy as hell ..... and then.it happened which always seems to happen with me ....was installing poweramp from market it said insufficient storage ..... I was like mmmmm maybe its nothing. just rebooted phone to try again...... as soon as it rebooted it showered a hell of force close on me for about every app ... I some how rebooted it again this time it was fine tried to install power amp from sdcard this time through apk..... and phones interface rebooted.... I fully rebooted the phone ..... and their it is all my apps .... were gone and showed default icons ... I rebooted again and this time the launcher went into force close and then.no matter how many times I rebooted it didn't worked not even launcher so now I formatted n reflashed the rom just ryt now n this time without amarrullz ...... so I wana knw guys how you all are making it work ..... same thing happens with s2e before with miracle .... and only thing left is link2sd I don't like it dosent free up space and phone becomes really slow with it. help me out here guys ....
