[Q] Having Problems Flashing... - LG Optimus Black

i used the android kitchen and made it followed all the steps and i went to my phone and flashed it and it said E:error in /sdcard/OrangeSteamBETA.zip (Status 0)
does anyone know how to fix or any tutorials ....
thanks

have you choose "type optimus" or something like that at "summit" [I think is summit don't remember but is where you upload framework and system files] page?? cause the first time I used UOT I forgot to select it [I think type htc or sense or something like that is default] and when flashing zip got that error, so second try I choose "type optimus" and it worked

I think he meant on dsixda kitchen.

Is there someone still interested in Tattoo's SPL?

Since we have rooted it now SPL seems to be useless.
----
Well, this is the original SPL image on Tattoo, nothing related to update.zip.
----
I was trying to reverse it, and just found why it refuses to erase, but I could not find why it refuses to download data from the host.
----
By now, to flash SPL or the first splash, you need a custom kernel with additional partition information and then use flash_image is OK.

Now you are going to sign the zip file. Download attached testsign.zip and copy it in your <SDK>/tools folder. Extract it here. It should create a sign subfolder with a testsign.jar file in it.
Then, from <workdir> folder, do:
java -classpath <SDK>/tools/sign/testsign.jar" testsign file.zip file-signed.zip
Ok, now your zip file is ready to be deployed using cyanogen recovery image.

There is no need to resign it, it will work just fine. And instead of flashing it, you can just push it with adb:
Code:
adb push framework-res.apk /system/framework/
Oh Okay Thank You v.much will post back if it works
Sorry Kind of noobish how do i do that to my device ????

You go to android.com and download the SDK. Inside that zip is a folder called tools, and in that you have the adb.exe. Connect your phone to your computer, and type the command from my previous post.
Thank-You Will post up a pic when updates finished
It tells me that it's a read-only system file ???
'adb remount' first
THANK-YOU
I got it working but i changed my rom to a sence rom so i edited some different pictures and will hopefully make more gold / or different soon Thanks
Oh and on 1 of the screens my apptray is there it wasnt ment to be
also could anyone point out where the main 3 buttons are at the bottom

Problems with my custom Rom?!

Hi all,i have a big Problem with my custom Rom.
First if i install my Rom with Rom Manager i run always in the same error
E:Failure at line 6: symlink toolbox SYSTEM:bin/cat
i have toolbox in my system/bin folder and i think my update-script is also ok!?
Then i have a another Problem with deodexing InfoAlarm.apk(system/app) and core.jar (system/framework) any ideas? Tool i used is dsixda's kitchen.
with the newest smali baksmali(1.26) 1.25 hasnt worked too.
Many thanks in advance!
At a guess - you need to provide more details if noone has been able to answer your question
post up the script and your rom somewhere and link to it and let people actually have a hack at whats wrong - without knowing what your doing - no one can tell you where you went wrong...

[Q] Extended Power Menu

Hi All,
Can anyone advise whether the following should work with Doc's JS8 and CWM recovery?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=8674580#post8674580
Rather than follow all the instructions, I just used the powermenu_final.zip at the end of the post and tried to flash the zip but it just sits there when flashing.
I'm not sure if it's me or the zip. If I knew it would work, I have no problems if I'll have to do it manually, but if the zip file provided in the post doesn't work it doesn't instill a lot of confidence.
Essentially, I want to learn how to do it so I can create my own update.zip containing other things as well.
Ultimately, I'd like to use the UOT Kitchen to get myself a battery mod, then add the changes to make an extended menu, and then finally add a few wallpapers, apk's etc. Then package it all up as an update.zip and flash it all.
If anyone can recommend a good guide, or advise whether the above post *should* work on my Galaxy S it would be appreciated.
Thanks

Yes, if you follow the instructions this guide still works.
But for JS8 you have to change the ressource ids to some unused values.
The update file you tried doesn't work because JS8 uses other resource ids than the one the update was built for. I'm sure you'll understand this after decompiling the files.
gleff1, I have successfully made the menu for JS* for this statement, but with minor amendments.
To create update.zip use it.
Try my update.zip, should work on all JS*:

Ok thanks.. I don't understand where to get the resource id's yet but i'll play around tomorrow night after work and decompile the files and see if it makes more sense then.
Incidently, do I just grab the files that need decompiling from the phone, or some other theme? Eg. Are they all in the system folder on the phone itself?

Awesome... thanks for that.. i'll have a look.
Edit: That worked great.. So that I can learn how to do it myself i'll decompile your working one and compare it to the guide. This should be a fun weekend learning this stuff.
Thanks heaps guys. Makes a lot of sense now. I'll have a play later on.
gleff1, use for jar apktool. To avoid typing commands manually, you can use ready-made set of scripts (author sk0t from 4pda.ru; inside the archive is a readme, though in Russian):

It is in the flashable zip file of your rom
That's weird. I got the cooked zip to install on my OB. Im on Zeus v3n. It flashed fine and everything was working besides the status bar and notification. I still haven't found a workaround for that..

At Uot Kitchen's website. At file upload section. Under the "Select flashable zip scripting" part you can choose update-binary type. Never forget to set it to "Type optimus".
