yes both problem mate,
phone restarts regularly, and heat up on charging.
thanks for reply
I think it is normal to heats up a bit when on charge. My phone does the same when I charging it up or when I play games. Don't know why restarts.

i know its heat up during charging , but phone behaviour is not okay ,
just wanna clarify its hardware problem or can be fixed via update firmware,
thanks
Try to update, if keeps doin it will be better to take it to service i guess. My opinion ..... It's not normal to reboot without reason!
dear all,
yesterday my Sensation start also to rebote, from no reason, it start show HTC logo on boot and he show screen for entering PIN, and than rebote, so I don't have time to enter PIN.
At the moment he run rom Android Revolution HD rom.
- Iflash again radio
- firmware
- format all and clean cache
- instal also new rom Insert Coin, but same thing. he come until PIN screen and make restart.
what can be the problem, is it possible to get any logs for these problem?
or it is hardware problem?
also I make factory restore, but nothing...
any suggestion ?
Mine does the same, going to wait till I update to ics to see if that fixes it if not ill take it back
It seems like not everyone but most of the phones can't handle the rom's.
I hope soon we'll get the solution.....
Its hardware problem , mine repaired by reheat processor same like hd2,
me too

i updated to ICS and used different ROMs and still have the same problem i dont think it is related to software issues
Sounds like a thermal issue with the CPU. Do phones use thermal paste? Maybe you need your CPU's reseating.

As i know from my expirience paste sometime do more harm then good. And i don't think they have used on mobile CPU paste....
Mobile CPU no need paste. But some services giving special paste for it. Its giving the same results like without. Anyway the problem guys is realy only for serwis. Flash stock ruu and sendit. New mobo is very expensive

Tell please what ROM are u using. That happened to me a lot with Alexs runnybliss 1.2 ROM. Cuz in some ways my phone could not handle that overclocked kernel. I am circuit board engineer and know how to measure temps on board areas. So my temps was more than 78 degrees by Celsius. And friends SXL burned with big flame during night charge. We could not get to exactly what happened but he's SXL also was running alexs runnyblis 1.2 He send back to warranty and luckily was given new one. Some chips can't be clocked I think cuz they all are different. Be carefull with this and try some stock kernels. Mine is doing just fine now with ANDTopix Rom. No heatups and no restarts anymore.

Hi guys, loving the sensation xl minus one thing. The panoramic mode on the camera. The problem is I press start, it goes green, but when I try to move it to the next stop, it freezes or moves a bit then gets stuck. I can only stop this by moving the phone really quickly but this results in badly stitched photos. Anyone else having this problem? Seems like HTC didn't really finish the feature and just put it in at the last minute.

No problems with mine. Have you tried factory reset? If so, and the problem still exists, return it as faulty.
Tried f/r. I've heard other people complain about this. I'm going to contact HTC. No doubt they'll be as useless as ever

Not had that problem on mine, then again I made a schoolboy error when taking a shot and brought the camera closer screwing up the pic
If you need good Panorama then i suggest JB Camera+ from market very easy to use and Panorama works perfectly in my phone and it takes very good photos also
hi guys for the past one month . my phone is not at all responsive in the touch screen and in the soft buttons .. it gets stuck and I have to lock the screen and then unlock it to make it work!!! tried many roms but still the same. is my phone aged? lolzz its 10 months old!!

Hmmm, strange.. Did some Googling and found some interesting stuff. Anyway, I see that you are from India too. Take it to an hTC center, and ask them to look into it. It might be some issue with the phone's hardware. If the service center's guy is not bright enough to check if your phone is s-off, you might get lucky

Seriously stop being that naive, I also had that call problem - radio flash did help. Still having same freezing as u occur, which came and shows up with Sense 3.0+ releases. Don't worry your phone isn't even near to it's death

I've got the same freeze issue....tried replacing digitizer, didn't help. Tried various ROMS, didn't help.
Have you tried a non-Sense ROM? I thought I tried that, and it didn't help either
Bringing up an older thread, but I have found a partial solution for my screen freeze issues. This was posted on another forum, so I can't take credit.
Download SGS booster and set to optimized. Slide top three sliders all the way to the left, and bottom two sliders all the way to the right, and apply.
I seem to have way less freezes with this active.
Before doing this i replaced LCD and digitizer, new ROMs (both Sense and AOSP), and nothing made a difference, so I am fairly happy that this software has improved my phone.
Anf no, I am not affiliated, just a user that seems to have been successful with an issue by using this software. There might be other software which does the same thing also, idk.
I had same touch problem and hanging problem.
It's the motherboard problem.
I took it to HTC care center and reported the problem.
Also added a few problem on my own like..AUTOMATICALLY SWITCHING OFF..UNABLE TO ACCEPT CALLS.
They replaced my piece (except back cover, camera and battery).
Try reporting to HTC Care center. :good:
Hi all
I've scoured the net for an answer to this, but all I seem to get is root/flash/mod stuff that I honestly don't fully understand.
QUESTION: All I want to know is WHY IS MY PHONE RUNNING SLOW(er) than my old SGS. That was rooted and flashed with 2.2 when I couldn't get an update but knocked out my WIFI and bluetooth so I won't be doing that again.
When I open task manager, I have 591MB available RAM (should it not be 712MB as advertised???) - 500MB of which is constantly in use. Therefore, leaving me with on average 100MB of RAM for useage. I have pretty much removed every app I have downloaded, turned the phone off and back on, removed the battery but to no avail. Even stopping running processes doesn't speed it up.
FYI I have also turned off all settings humanly possible (which is pretty much limited to animations and auto brightness)
All in all, with a 1.5ghz processor as opposed to a 1ghz processor on my SGS I should expect flawless performance, especially after such a good run with a lower spec phone.
Apologies for the rant but I want to give as much info as possible and I am sick to death of this phone already (i'm 3 or so weeks into my new contract)
Any help would be greatly appreciated (i'm sure one of you h-core android users can point me in the right direction)
Thanks in advance.
which rom you using right now? firmware or custom?
and what do you mean by "slow" ?
slow perfomance? slow response? not smooth enough?
my XL works perfectly fine and very smooth, and i am using RcMix's rom, no problem at all.
I dont think a normal XL has such issues that you mentioned, it could be your hardware's problem, try send it back for fixing, or just replace a new one if your warranty is still on.
712 MB, no. some of it is not user accessible, so it's not shown. perfectly normal. and 100MB spare should b plenty. That amoutn that is in use alreeady includes the sense UI.
Network branded?
Widgets on the home screens?
Mine only has 400MB used, and that's with loadsa crap installed and the music player running...
But don't fear the custom ROMS, if the Wi-Fi and BT went, either it was a dodgy ROM (or it was still being done), or something went wrong during the flash. These things happen but can usually be fixed.
Thanks for the replies. I am currently running stock firmware pre installed, have removed all widgets bar weather clock/power bar/YouTube bar and only have 2 home screens. Thats about it! but you really shouldn't have to on what's considered a high end phone, no?
It's slow between screens (animations are off), loading apps and the music player is choppy. They're the only real gripes I can pick off the top off of my head.
Do roms make much of a difference?
Am I expecting too much from a "high end " android?
I'm on o2

I hasten to add the question: Do you need to effectively "wear in" such devices? I do recall a speed issue with my old laptop before I gave it a good few hours with multiple programs on the go.

If u are talking bout the animation, yes its abit laggy when i got mine but i don think its big issue for me
Perhaps the next ICS will improve if u plan to update firmware
Sent from my HTC Sensation XL with Beats Audio X315e using XDA App
Animations are always worth turning off.
Bear in mind that any widget you have running will have the program running in the background.
the fact you have so much in use suggests maybe O2 have installed some crap maybe?
Have you got it sycnhing for email avery five minutes or so?
Yeah, i suspect there's some bloat installed maybe?
Just reset mine and am showing 581 total, but only 309MB used, over 270MB free.
i have stripped a few bits out of my ROM however....
That was a good shout with the email sync. Have changed it to once a week but it still hasn't made much difference. Chances are o2 have installed ****e on here that I can't access, they're not as good as I previously thought.
Ifi don't get any joy by the time I've installed the march release of ICS I'm getting rid and going for the SGS2. I don't trust roms anymore.
Sent from my HTC Sensation XL with Beats Audio X315e using XDA App
custom roms are smooth, u might want to try it.
I wouldn't let one bad experience put you off. I've been flashing and doing stuff since the old Qtek S100 back in 2003/2004. Yeah, occasionally things go a bit awry, but it's rarley not able to be fixed. I've never had a bricked device yet, although one or two may have been run over....
I didn't brick my sgs luckily. I just knocked out WiFi capability which really annoyed me. But funilly enough, today my phone seems to have sped right up. Now have an average of 170mb free ram which is almost double. I dont know what I've done, bit it seems to have worked. I reckon I just needed to wear my phone in like I did my laptop. Im fairly impatient with loading times etc haha.
I think I'm gonna wait til march when ics is released and if its crap then I'll revisit mods again.
Thanks for your help and everyone else who posted.

Sounds like a dodgy ROM to me.
for it to do that suddenly, I wonder if you had signed into HTC Sense....that thing takes DAYS to do it's first sync sometimes.
hard resetting will solve this prob//
i have problem after factory reset is solved ,but as soon as start using dailer app ,phone restarts after dailing ,if use wifi for browsing etc in aeroplane mode every things is simply fine .
had tried flashing few roms already ,has any one solved this isssue ?
i have found that the phone sometimes "bottlenecks" and goes stupid for a few mins, but killing all running apps, and locking and unlocking the phone, makes it act normal again!
I.have no problems. Only facebook gets stupid and stays loading and loading I.have to go into applications and force stop then fb works fine. Not sure what it is ...camera its so so. I mean it uses same rezound camera and rezound takes better pics

Hey I was trying to fix my twcr a few weeks ago after installing arhd 3.0.1 and ran a script I came across that changed some of the files in my etc/soundimage folder I think it was. Either way since then my sound via headset is horrible. My music plays horrible. In poweramp I ha e to turn the balance knob to the right or left to hear vocals. My in call volume is also garbage via the headset now. It's really low.
I've tried everything I can thi.k of. Ran an old nandroid from months back that had gingerbread. I've wiped the system and did a clean Rom install. And the sound via headset is the same no matter work. I shud point out that sound via speaker is fine.

Yes it does. Changes made to audio through a script do not persist through a complete wipe and fresh install of the operating system. It could be a hardware issue with your headset.
happens on any headset. not sure what happened. not the end of the world but i wish i cud get it working again.

I've been avoiding that. I did run an old backup and formatted bit the same thing happened. I know the sound works because a notification blows my ear drums out via headset but a call or music sound brutal.

I repacked that file with stock version from our phone and cleaned up the install script so it can run without errors. Try flashing it and see if that fixes your issue. Wipe cache and dalvik.
i believe it may be a hardware issue. if i put a little presure on the jack towards the back and down it works fine. coulda swore this headset worked tho. maybe it got bumped and a connector or something moved.
weird. i ran that and now it works better. its a little touchy if i bump it it does the same thing but i can get the sound normal now. which makes no sense.
This is a blowoff rather than a request, but just in case...
It's since I upgraded my beloved SXL to ICS that I'm experiencing battery issues. When my buddy ran GB everything was just perfect, hours and hours of joy spent together, working hard and relaxing. But those days are gone. Now I can see battery life quickly draining away. %s drop down one after one (by the star-dogged moon).
I've tried almost any available rom (now I'm on 3M Insane 3.6), but the problem is always the same. I can't believe it's not possible to fix it, I am sure it has to be software related...
Please, anyone help me to have my battery back...

If you gone trough every rom i guess it is not software related anymore. If you can take another battery and try it. Just to be sure.
Frankly there can be many things causing your drain

Already done, tried my wife's battery and the issue remains... she's got no problem with battery life, so I think it has something to do with my device. My apps are the same ones as I was on GB, so it shouldn't be related to any particular app... I've even tried to remove all unnecessary apps from the phone, but 3 days later (after battery calibration) it was still the same. It's frustrating
Im thinking delete battery stats and recalibrate it again, there is some good guides here in xda

Actually I didn't. Aren't they the same as OTA? I thought they were, so when I was to choose a new ROM I didn't consider to flash one of those, since my problem was there even on stock ICS... maybe worth a try. Thank you for your suggestion, I will give it a go
So, after a while (about 2 weeks) testing stock ICS rom from fshami, I'm still getting high battery drain. I've installed setcpu to create profiles which can reduce cpu usage in particular situations. Have to say that this managed to partially decrease drain, especially at night or in screen-off mode. But battery stats show that main draining source is display (70-80 %). I then realized that since I upgraded from GB I've started using bravia engine (cooked in rom or flashing it separately). Could this be the reason of the increased drain? I'm going to flash again the stock rom and avoid flashing bravia engine, this should be the acid test...
SOLVED
After a hard testing of the stock rooted rom from fshami (without bravia engine) I found out that bravia was the leech that was drying my phone battery up. Since I installed the rom leaving bravia out, my battery lasts twice as long as before. Though it could be my device having problems with the engine, if anyone is experiencing the same issue it is worth trying this way...
