hi guys,
i have some problems with wifi.. if I connect my phone in wifi area, after some minutes it disconnects automatically. another problem is the switch beetween 3g and wifi, sometimes wifi doesn't connect automatically.
firmware version
pda: I9001xxkqb
phone: I9001xxkpl
csc: I9001OXXKP8
build info: tue mar 20 11:04:55 kst 2012
please help me... I already did wipe factory and data cache.
thx

I made 2 threads here but the stupid moderators moved it again on i9000 Q&A, so it got lost.
They basically deleted it.

a fix for now, untill a final solution is found.
The final solution i think it will be CM9 when arco is done porting it.

Well yes but that's just a workaround to the actual problem which still exists.

My wifi works exactly 3 minutes (180 sec) before disconnect. Where is the switcher?
you could also try using a static ip adress...and does it happen when you are connected only to home nework or ?
@kellermanv well till now there wasnt even workaround..

If you have a time limit on your connections its either your DHCP Lease Time set to 180 or wifi.supplicant_scan_interval (in build.prop) set to 180
Here it is.
Maybe i can replace it with settings.db from KQ1 ROM ?

definitely it's not the reason because this value is define an interval between the scans when your phone is NOT connected to any hotspot and it scanning for a known or open network.

kellermanv, check your PM
jonah666, I don't even know if I can do anything, so don't You be ahead of the game
So, in a brief, the problem is:
since Q7 ROM and upper Samsung improperly do interprets "wifi_idle_ms" value as global WiFi timeout or as after-last-activity timeout instead of after-the-screen-goes-off timeout, as it standard.
Who dare to cure it?
Well, with your value put at 5 minutes, it dropped only when the screen was off after exactly five minutes. if the screen would have been on for 5-6-7-8 minutes, it wouldn't have dropped.
now i tried with value 0, 5 minutes gone and wi-fi didn't drop. i'll let you know in the morning if it dropped or not.
L.E: Nevermore, it dropped again.

try to assign staitc ip............it happened in i9003 too
download a root explorer, go to data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf and set: update_config to 0 and priority to 1, it doesn't solve the problem but it gets a little better

Yeah there are plenty of those codes actually.
for example:
*#*#7780#*#* factory reset
*2767*3855# factory format (everything wiped, also the internal sd card)
*#*#1575#*#* gps test
*#*#1234#*#* pda phone version
*#*#1111#*#* fta sw version
*#0*# lcd test (cool one )
*#*#2664#*#* touchscreen test
they should work on every android device. try google to find more
Thanks mate
So after the tips from Sakindia and BackDaws, when i changed the phones ip to static, and changed the routers DHCP settings, i have no more problem with the wifi connection.
Thanks again guys

This was exactly the cure for the problem, I can also confirm it. I tried several things, such as exchanging config files between several ROMs, what a waste of time
But I'm still wondering why 2.3.4-2.3.6 can not work with forever leasing time... It's bad.
p.s.: for me no static IP needed for proper work
Thanks for sharing this BackDaws!

It's causing the wi-fi problem.
In 2nd page of v30b ICS user manual, a special indication about wi-fi region wise, maybe that's the culprit for wi-fi problem.
This problem usually happens when you are using a wifi modem with a mac address filtration or something
Try looking in the modem's settings about mac address options

Thanks for reply, but before wi-fi problem I am using it for 2 years with no problem of mac address or anything else, (wi-fi is open without password)
After flashing Zeus, UltraICS, and CM10 alternating with multiple times, get wi-fi problem gone away on CM10 now, maybe if I flash some ROM, problem may arise again.
Now again, no problem with mac address or anything.
try with another device. if it's ok, it will mean that the the issue is on phone side
it's not mac address problem then
It's causing the wi-fi problem.

Hi,
My dad has a Galaxy S Advance and we can not use its GPS receiver at all. I tried the GPSTest application, it doesn't show any satellites, whilst my old I9000 Galaxy S - which has a very weak receiver - can find 7-8 satellites. Does anybody have any suggestions?
Phone was running on I9070XXLPY (the very first 4.1.2), I thought it may be a SW issue so I have just flashed the latest German I9070XXLQE firmware via Odin but the issue still exists. Phone functionality and Bluetooth are working fine, so Modem binary is working and /efs is not lost. Phone is not rooted and I don't want it to be rooted at all.
Thanks in advance

Is it a common problem? Is it hardware problem?

If Internet enabled, it is the same. I know that if you download GPS data it should find GPS signal much sooner, but it shouldn't.
Thanks
Root and set gps.config to your country. Search for ntp servers. (Almighty Google). By default for my phone it was set to North America, and I am in Serbia. It was taking 3-5 mins to get gps fix, after changing it to my (rs.ntp.blah, blah) it takes 10-30 seconds.

First restart your router and also assured that your internet is in working state.
and if it is phone prob then try some app from market like wifi fix, etc.
And last thing you could try is flashing the rom again.
Sent from my GT-S5570 using xda premium
This is a common prolem in new experience...it's the main reason why i switched to another rom. The problem is not in your router. It's in ROM's kernel.
A possible fix is to connect to desired wifi connection then restart your phone, it should connect automaticlly. And you have to do this every time you connect to a wifi apn...
You can try flashing another kernel.

Hey guyz, my wlan_rx_wake wakelock is driving me insane.
Please do a little test so i can determine what is causing this, it is really simple!!!!
stock 20a/b/c user and CM users (specially stock!):
set your wifi to never sleep on advance wifi menu
write your ip number
leave the phone alone for 5 minutes
now ping it (cmd -> ping "your ip" -t) and post result !!
Obs: i just want to know if the ping answer will come immediately or just after a while when the phone wakes up. it shouldnt answer immediately like on 10f/h firmware, but it answers immediately on CM meaning wifi is not sleeping well.
Please post result!!! this is driving me insane

i didnt have to do this when i was on ICS one day ago, so i dont think it will change putting static IP.
Could you please post your ping results since u have 20b??
maybe in jellybean something is changed that affects how your router treats your device now. Ping wouldn't change, with this issue or not. This problem is probably due to the DHCP of your router, checking if the IP is released and ready to be used on another device, which your phone will wake up and respond 'no'.
this happened to me too after changing to jellybean but giving static fixed it.

yeah, thats why i asked for someone (with 20a/b) to ping the phone and post results after leaving it standing for a while. I want to know if this fix that first appear on 10f firmware is also on 20a,
I saw my router logs and didnt find anything unusual as i imagined. Puting static IP would only be effective in my home (even not knowing if it would actualy fix that issue) and useless everywhere else.
As is said nothing has change on my network router & devices. Until one day ago i was on ics and ping request would not give me an imediately response because it was sleeping, but after flashing CM, ping request are answering imediately, just like before stock 10f firmware. Im pretty sure its something in the rom/kernel.
Plus, my dad galaxy s2 and my mom L7 works like it should; answering ping requests like the second image.

you might want to do a little research on wifi.supplicant_scan_interval parameter in build.prop on V20
i do know tweaking it can help with battery when we have wifi on, but do not have any connection.

Thank you men, the weird thing is that i dont have wifi.supplicant_scan_interval , not any other wifi parameters on build.prop. i will manually add them and see what happens
may be CM doesnt use this.
Can you post your build.prop so io can copy stuff? or may be just copy the wifi parameters.
Edit: i see those parameters on zaiben ROM wich is similiar to stock 20a.
can you confirm those parameters on your build.pro?

Thank you men, the weird thing is that i dont have wifi.supplicant_scan_interval , not any other wifi parameters on build.prop. i will manually add them and see what happens
may be CM doesnt use this.
Can you post your build.prop so io can copy stuff? or may be just copy the wifi parameters.
Edit: i see those parameters on zaiben ROM wich is similiar to stock 20a.
can you confirm those parameters on your build.pro?

yes same parameters. but for wifi.supplicant_scan_interval the default on V20B is 20. This one here is tweaked.

hey, did you try setting the wifi.supplicant_scan_interval?
After setting it to 300 i think im really getting ALOT more juice but im not sure if its a placebo effect, and i've eco mode on through terminal.

i actually tested once having 200 as wifi.supplicant, but didnt seee any improvement. it shouldnt also, because that parameter means that it look for your saved wifi but when they are not in range, so you would only maybe see an affect when not conected to wifi..
