Constant "Video maker" crash. - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I'm having issues with the video maker that came with the note.
Once I open the app and select the theme and as soon as all the videos starts to load up video maker crashes and goes back to create new project screen :/
I was wondering if anybody else is having this issue and knew how to fix the problem?

Are you using a Rooted Device? What Firmware are you on? Do you have CWM Recovery?
If so then try wiping cache and Dalvik cache from the CWM Recovery menu and see if that helps.
You can also go to settings> applications> manage applications> all> and find the app and then clear the app data, etc and see if that helps as well.

Thanks for the reply. I'm currently on everything stock. Since I just got this phone and new to android platform I haven't really messed with rooting etc.
I tried clearing data like you recommended but it didn't help still crashing at the "add media" screen. Idk why...
Update:
I guess video maker doesn't like importing videos/pictures from sdcard... After transferring videos and pictures to phone it's working fine now. Is this problem normal? Or just me? Having 2gbs of pictures and videos too much? :/

Some of the files on your list may corrupted. Did you check with other set of files? If newer set of files didn't work.. try factory reset if still didn't work try hard reset, even if it's not working! Rooting is the best option. After that you can install a good working video editor from someone whose app is working good or you can even flash a new rom.

Yeah I copied the same pic/vids files from sdcard to the phone and video maker works perfect so files aren't corrupted, at least I don't think? App just refuses to use the media files from sdcard for some reason I tried factory reset no changes.
Must be something in sdcard cause unless unmounted the sdcard I cant get video maker to work.

That's it... You found the culprit.. Try with other sd card..

I just formatted sdcard and everything is in order Ty for the help!

Ok after testing what was causing this problem, I finally narrowed it down to "music" folder.
I have about 1000 mp3 on sdcard and seems like loading that many songs in video maker is crashing the app.
Anyone who has 1000+ mp3s try to load up video maker see if it crashes on you?

That was quite informative though couldn't try.
So it is a cache issue that can be solved by Samsung.

Yeah hope so... I wish I can choose which folder to scan and exclude like quickpic.

I have some 3000+ songs on my SD card and Video Maker crashes on me every time, no matter if I use a video on SD card or internal memory. I have moved the video around to see if that would help, but it continues cashing.
I'm not sure I understand what the solution is from the posts above.

a workaround..
Mine does this too, stock ICS. My SD card has lots of videos recorded by my htc desire, some files are corrupt. All other gallery apps simply ignore those files, video maker crashes.
Find the videos, music and pictures you want to use on the sd card, and copy them to internal sd card. Now go to settings->storage and select unmount sd card. Open video maker, and select media. On mine, it would still crash unless I killed by task manager, and re-opened. Then it worked, and export movie would fail. 2nd time it worked.
Mount SD card when finished.

Poweramp duplicating songs!

I have an HTC Raider from Rogers and I installed PowerAmp on it. After it completes the library scan, it shows every song twice. However, when I open up the stock music app, everything looks normal. All of my music is currently stored on the external SD card. I did try moving all of the music over to the internal SD and poweramp only showed the music files once. However, I don't want my music eating up all the space on my internal sd.
Anyone else encountered this problem and possibly have a solution?

Never had this problem... that's odd. Maybe you could contact the dev of that app. Many of them are really good about resolving issues with users.

I will try contacting them. Thanks!
PowerAMP's library management seems to be a bit rubbish. It wouldn't read about half of my Japanese ID3 tags, nor 1/4 of my Korean ones... It's a bit of a disaster.

I also have an HTC Raider from Rogers and have the exact same problem.
Did you ever hear back from the developers about this?
Have you tried making sure that ONLY your music folder is getting scanned (by manually selecting it in the settings), then going into the advanced settings and initiating a full wipe/rescan?
I'm on a Rogers Raider and have never had this problem, so it's a shot in the dark. Been using PowerAmp for over a year across three phones.

Yes, I made sure that only the music folder is scanning. But still having the same problem, Please someone help me. :crying:
Using Nexus 4 with Android 4.2.2
I had this problem, uninstall it, clear your dalvik cache, reinstall it, select only your music folder, double check that you don't actually have duplicate files
Hi,
try this:
Open Settings in powerAmp > Folders and Library > Music Folders (scroll down & down to make sure you select only 1 Folder where your music is stored).
that fixes mine. Hope that fixes your problem.
Maybe have a closer look
I have the Nexus 4, too and just solved the problem.
The first thing I did when acqiring Poweramp was de-selecting everything but the "music" folder.
But then I noticed that there was not only a folder of that name in /storage/emulated/0, but also in /storage/emulated/legacy, which was still selected, causing the problem.
Deselected the second one and everything worked fine
duplicate songs
the dual listing of songs files etc is usually caused by the app scanning dual paths. Set your app to only scan one folder for your music.

[Q] Walkman and video players not finding files on my SD card

Just got the phone and I'm digging my way through it but I've found that for some reason my music and video files are not being seen by the phone.
Photographs are fine, but I see no obvious way of forcing the walkman and movie apps to scan my SD card. The files are still there and I've tried unmounting/remounting but I'm not having much luck.
Has anyone else experienced this? I tried to search but only saw reports of skipping tracks etc.
Edit: I've come from a Galaxy S3 and the card was formatted on that phone - could it be a slightly different file organisation system? I hope I don't have to reformat!
I understood the media server will scan for files if you:
- Add new media to the SD card and unplug USB cable.
- When you power cycle the device.
If all this fails maybe try an app like "Rescan Media":
http://www.androlib.com/android.application.com-addz-mediascanner-jtDAw.aspx
Rescan Media is a simple app will rescan your mobile phone for new files that usually happens on a system re-boot.
It only calls the android media scanner.
Kind regards, Stefan.
You can also delete android folder from the sd and reboot.

Thanks guys. Oddly enough I'm now seeing my files. It seemed to just happen! When I rebooted and used usb, nothing happened. Then out of the blue it just does it, unexplainable! That app looks handy though
can't find the media
Same to me. I can find any mp3 or mp4 file that i have in sdcard in my walkman, Still can see it through file explore. How can I fix it? Tried media scan app, flash new app, wipe anything... but still can't see anything in the damn screen.
Please help me! You can send email for me: [email protected]

[Q] Sony's Album problem???

Sony's album application does not show photos and videos from the sd card.
It did at the beginning but when i formated the sd card and re-copied some folders with photos/videos.... they dont show with "album"
Any solution? and any good alternative to "Sony Album"?
Use an album app grabber from play store, they work nicely. I have 3 different ones installed though as they some seem to be able to find better quality pics than others or those that are rarer art to find too. My favourite/main one I use is 'cover art grabber'.
FIXED!!!
Seems that clearing the application's cache through /setings/applications etc does the trick!

The same goes for Walkman app when it sometimes won't add new music from sd card.
Does not work for me . Formated my sd card and changed the folders a bit . Now the album shows those " mountain images " ( like the file was deleted or corupt ) . Cleared cache , data and forced stop twice . Still nothing . Any ideeas ?
Settings. Apps. All. Media Storage. Clear all data. Reboot. If you have root explorer open photo folder and any random pic. Open any music file. Close app and wait for a while. Hope that helps. It was a fix for HTC OneX.

I just tested on xz and it works. Best to open a picture and a music file in file explorer first to kick start it.

nope still nothing i did previously freez MHL , mirrorlink and startupflagservice with gemini AND installed rescan media root ( to disable mediaserver ) BUT i re-enabled mediaserver and uninstalled the program and did unfreeze the sistem apps . rebooted twice , unmounted sd , took photos wich are saved to internal memory , opened both pictures and music on my album\ walkman apps. still nothing... Media storage has now 608 Kb vs 604 kb ( about 1 hour ago ) vs 15 mb or so ( before clear ) . I do have root and stock firmarware. Any ideas, tips ? am i doing something wrong ?
Wheel ok... I found the problem... I had previously copied the data via a SD adapter ( much faster) and the album and Walkman could not see anything on the stick. Funny thing is that when I plugged my phone via cable with de sd inside, windows showed it empty.... Weird. Anyway, copied everything back via phone with sd inside and everything ok now! Thanks!

Music on external SD Card not recognised on AOSP ROMs. Symlink?

I've been using the XT for almost a year now and I have noticed this pretty annoying bug on AOSP ROMS.
I have about 10 gb of music in a folder called Music on my external SD card. They can be read fine with a file browser or Poweramp, but most of the other music players (Apollo and Google music) don't seem don't seem to recognize the folder, or any media from the external SD card for that matter. I have also tried creating a symlink from the ext-sd to the internal memory to no avail. From what I've read, FAT32 doesn't support symlinks.
Is there any solution to this? I'm pretty tired of using poweramp.

This trick works for me for other custom roms:
1) Get "Rescan Media" from the Play Store (it's by Aditya Talpade) but dont run it yet.
2) Go into Settings->Apps->All and scroll down to Media Storage. Click it. Hit Clear Data and then Force Stop.
3) Run "Rescan Media" app.
Then wait... phone may get hot for a bit. If that doesn't work (it's happened to me before), I would do the Step 2, restart the phone, then do step 3. Then let the phone sit for like 20 minutes.
Good luck
Gah!! I am trying to take my own advice after installing T Hybrid 18.1. And its not working for me. Sorry if.its not.working for you!

Fail. Ok. This is what worked for me:
Settings->Storage
At the very top. "Scan Media"

AOSP roms don't have that option and the "Rescan media" app gives a FC everytime I try to start it.

Unable to play videos from gallery

I went on a bloatware killing spree yesterday and may or may not have deleted something important. If requested, i can take pics from titanium backup of EVERYTHING i have deleted. I have a feeling the apk was called "Video Player 1.1". I have it backed up from my rdlv days but since thats a different rom it wont restore it to my mj5. It is unable to play videos from my sd card, or internal memory. I removed the sd card and tested it and it works but the phone wont play any videos from the gallery, it says "Unable to play video". I dont know how to go to a stock mj5 and get all my bloatware back so i can start fresh

Thank you very much! I noticed all these arm 6/7 codecs on the app store, do i have to worry about them? Also does this have any advantage over the stock video player or is it to be used as a temporary solution?

You only have to download them if it prompts you to. I use it as a permanent solution. It plays more types of files than stock.
