see attachment in this post for partition layout
first off all you need to setup NVFLASH their is a great tutorial on modaco how to set it up http://android.modaco.com/topic/335416-nvflash-setup-instructions-drivers-links-active/
and you will need a NVFLASH rom every rom will work so just grab one i used this one http://android.modaco.com/topic/335474-25-mar-nvflash-stock-rom-release-v10b-dated-1300166062-15032011/
If you did setup NVFLASH and you download the rom you can continue
open the folder where you extract the ROM
you will see a couple of files make a backup of this file "android_fastboot_emmc_full.cfg"
just copy it over to your desktop or wherever you want
open up the "android_fastboot_emmc_full.cfg" file with a IMPORTANT linux new line editor (my advise is to use notepad++(WARNING do not ever use Windows Notepad))
this are the partitons we can change
OLD BOOTLOADER
ID - 6, Name: APP, /system
ID - 7, Name: CAC, /cache
ID - 14, Name: SOS, Recovery
ID - 16, Name: UDA, /data
ID - 18, Name: UDB, Internal SD
NEW BOOTLOADER
ID - 23, Name: APP, /system
ID - 7, Name: CAC, /cache
ID - 15, Name: SOS, Recovery
ID - 17, Name: UDA, /data
ID - 21, Name: UDB, Internal SD
Three important notes
1. UDB the internal SD has this size " UDB has size: size=0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF" this means all the remaining space
2. UDA the data cannot be larger then 2GB otherwise it will break ClockWorkMod Recovery
3. this one is obvious but just to be sure i will just put it here the size must be multiples of 2048
i use this sizes
/system (512 MB): size=536870912
/cache (1 GB): size=1073741824
/data (1.85 GB): size=1986420736
Recovery (50 MB): size=52428800
1GB cache is a bit overkill but i do not put the dalvik-cache on the data partition but on the cache partition so it is quite usefull
you can change these values to whatever you want
be sure you NANDROID your current rom because nvflash will delete everything
It will also delete ClockWorkMod recovery and put stock recovery on the recovery partition
but if you want NVFLASH to flash ClockWorkMod Recovery
you can download it from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1098745
rename the recovery image you want to "recovery.img" and overwrite the old recovery.img in the NVFLASH ROM folder
now just flash the NVFLASH the ROM and you got your resized partitions!
be careful and enjoy!
thanks to mankian

Speaking of super clean flashes. Any idea if Smartflash does the same thing? (i.e. when performing a stock rom install.)

yes, smartflash cleans all the partition of your internal partition. but smartflash can't rebuild the partition like nvflash does.

First thing, the process reformat your internal SDcard, take care of your data before !!
Just a detail, after nvflash process is over the phone will reboot and an update screen like during Smartflash will appear to finish updates.
Taking recovery file from Rusty (see in stickies, take the external one and rename it to recovery.img like said in op) you will have directly your recovery flashed to restore backup.
Thanks !!
I did't know that NVFLASH can resize partiotions in so simple way but anyway, ill stick with classic method becouse i really like having big data (like 2,5GB).
Just btw. i wanted to ask... Why does /dev partition has 210MB? I always have only 32KB used on that. It looks like waste of space for me.

you can set (increase) the partition sizes of the internal sd.
look at my screenshot, bigger sizes (more space for data (=apps), system , ...)

i can only use the cache partition for the systems dalvik-cache removed the corresponding build.prop row.

Warning: This will erase your userdata partition. It is HIGHLY recommended to do a nandroid backup with CWM "BEFORE" performing this procedure
TUTORIAL:
Follow this method to make your userdata partittion to 420mb
1. Reboot your phone into CWM
2. Move to "Backup and Restore",then select "Backup"
3. When backup done, power off
4. unzip and flash the attached ftf file with flashtool.
5. Go into CWM again, select "Backup and Restore" then "Advanced restore", select your last backup then "restore data"
6. Enjoy your extra space
7. To reverse this process just flash the original ftf of your choice (42, 58, 62) and your userdata will return to its original state!
This mod is useless to those who have the "Arc S Lt18i" or have flashed a rom made specifically for Arc S (ICS Beta rom) as this is where this mod came from.
It is however very useful for us "Arc Lt15i" users cause we gain an extra 40mb to store apps on internal memory
I have been using this for a couple weeks now and have suffered no ill/negative effect. That said, it is at your own risk and I claim no responsibility if you turn your beloved Arc into a useless paperweight!
If I have left anything out feel free to pm me
I am on the ICS beta and have 420MB space - maybe it uses the same trick.

So, with only bringing back Nand backup will not change this rise of userdata space? And what will happen if I just flash new ROM? It will stay unchanged? I will still have 420mb?
Now I looked and I alredy have 420mb... Hmm...
Thanks for this...

restoring your nandroid backup and changing to any rom will not effect your new space of 420mb.
It will only revert if you flash an original SE firmware (ftf file)
Peace!
very interesting...
so if i understand this correctly, u have basically found a correct combination of files which makes the bootloader resize the cache and userdata partitions right?

great, flashed and now 420mb. seems to be running ok. many thanks.
I confirm its work on my Arc 380 > 420 mb.
ok so for someone how is using this/has flashed this can u do some testing for me?
ONLY FOR ARC (LT15 users)
download the .42/.58/.62 FW and flash only the userdata & cache partitions, exclude all other partitions (checkboxes in latest FlashTool)... do this for using both ARC (LT15) & ARC S (LT18) specific firmware...
and then report how the data partition size is...
thanks!

Isn't SE been telling that Arc S and Arc have different partition tables and we shouldn't cross flash them due to this? and recently lot of Arc users had flashed ICS Beta directly on their Arc and never had any known issues with Filesystem!
I don't know what that proves... may be after all, it's just the CPU difference rather than anything more!

Hey guys, i present to you a new updated version of CyanogenMod Recovery a.k.a CWM 6.0.1.4. The current version that we use is 5.0.2.6
The new permanent build is up. Its no-more a WIP.
But still please test and report back.
Edit : The bricked ace is causing a lot of problems. I cannot test the recoveries. If possible please consider donating so that i can get it repaired.
Donation link below my profile picture.
Declaration :
Code:
[COLOR="Red"]You are using this at your own risk. I am not responsible for any bricks or thermonuclear wars.[/COLOR]
Permanent version : CWM 6.0.1.4
How to flash :
Download the zip and put it in the sdcard.
Reboot to recovery and flash the zip.
Reboot to system. (This system is very important as it links all recovery files to the system.)
Now reboot to recovery and enjoy.
PS : The backups created by this CWM are indeed very small in size. Its a new feature. Don't come running to me asking why it happens. Read below about how it works.
Changelog of CWM 6 :
As said by Koush himself -
Changes:
New backup format that deduplicates data between backups.
Faster backups.
Fixed restores > 2GB.
Minor UI tweaks (new background, animated Android)
Create Android Update Zips on device : Using this new feature, anyone can create an update.zip package of their currently installed ROM for others to use.
Future:
In the past, I have merged/rebased every CWM with AOSP. With Jellybean, I have decided this is no longer in the best interest of the project. There are only a few areas of AOSP recovery that are of interest (roots.c - file system, minui, and updater). Those will continue to be merged into CWM. Other than that, doing a full rebase with every code drop has been a giant headache, with the code churn from upstream that providing little to no value to CWM.
In any case, this unties my hands to deviate completely from AOSP, with the primary goal to make a much more polished touch UI.
ROM Manager
ROM Manager is a little over 2 years old, and though it has grown in features quite a bit since its first incarnation, parts are starting to show its age. I've been contemplating a significant UI rewrite for some time now, and will pull the trigger on that shortly. I also want to add in some features that I am hoping will be of some interest:
* A paid ROM section for devs to publish their work and support their hobby.
* Upload your current ROM to ROM Manager for anyone to use, from the device.
* Connect ROM Manager to the Recovery Builder for automatic updates of recovery. No device left behind
Speaking of the Recovery Builder; it has been pleasantly successful. To date, around 1700 recoveries have been built. Many for devices ROM Manager currently does not even support.
Anyways, if you have any suggestions for the future of ClockworkMod products, please drop me a line!.

Here koush explains how the backup size is so small :
New ClockworkMod Backup Format
TL;DR:
Don't delete /sdcard/clockworkmod/blobs
I've gotten a few questions about how this works, so I figured I'd make a post on it.
Basically, here's what happens:
The files being backed up are hashed (sha256, not that it matters). Then it checks for a file with the name of the hash in
/sdcard/clockworkmod/blobs
So, if the hash of the file was c5273884b90d490134e7737b29a65405cea0f7bb786ca82c63 37ceb24de6f5ed, it looks for /sdcard/clockworkmod/blobs/c5273884b90d490134e7737b29a65405cea0f7bb786ca82c63 37ceb24de6f5ed
If the hash file is found, it continues on to the next file. Otherwise, it copies the file to the blobs directory with the file name being the hash.
ROMs and user data, for the most part, do not change too much between builds and backups. So, your APKs, system files, etc, are generally only stored once. This saves a ton of space. Especially between incremental backups.
Some of you may be thinking "well, how do I delete a backup?".
First, never delete the blobs directory. This would actually delete all your backups by rendering them unusable.
Simply delete the usual backup directory, and the next time you run a backup, all the unused hash files will be automatically delete (a process known as garbage collection). The recovery will show "Freeing space..." while this is happening.

Just flashed it. Nice job!
No bugs so far, but don't take my word for it since I only played around with it for five minutes.
Noticed so far:
1. Very quick to exit recovery and reboot into the system (less than a second)
2. A lot of customizations and nice interface
I love it! Finally someone did.
The other day, I was thinking of compiling CWM 6 Touch from source but I guess I don't need it now

This is due to our phone's screen size. I guess Ron can fix it while building, it needs some xml edits
Is it as stable as CWM 5.0.2.0? What are the added features? Need your suggestions as I never used any other recovery other than CWM.

INSTALLATION
The installation is by means of the NVflash utility and a menu that I made expressly for the ROM NVflash.
The program is called Optitool, since it serves not only for flashing the ROM, but you can also backup the entire system or for partitions, (save only the DATA partition, or SYSTEM partition, even save the RECOVERY).
The program runs both on Windows as in Linux, simply execute the file menuen.bat or menuen.sh.
The Extras are installed from the installation menu itself, so once downloaded Extras have to decompress them inside the folder LGP990_V30A_Opti-ICS-0.8_Root_Face-Lock_init.d_CWM6 of the ROM.
An important detail, before saving the DATA partition must pass all the SD applications to the phone.

Hi! Thanks for the awesome release and BIG question right in the beginning:
I know backing up internal SD is possible, but trying to restore it always failed in the middle of the process in my tests, because of some problem with image size not correctly determined.
Can you veryfy that restoring data of internal SD does work?
Have you tried with a quite full internal SD? Some hundred MB will work but then it fails. Please report, thanks :good:
pls can you provide some screenshots?
Awesome release thanks so much

Your assessment is correct, :good: it gives error when restoring.
I set me the backup to do alternating an upward countdown, and that the maximum number of bytes that recognize the program is 688193536.
To restore only recognizes 656 MB of the 4.6 GB of backup

This is a custom ROM, as you can see in the pictures that attached in the first message, you also have a list of things that I've taken and things I've added.
This ROM has the philosophy of all my creations, all the applications that I have removed will find inside the "apk" folder in the SD_internal, those are the prefilled
Then you have those installed as Rmap, Opticalc, etc.

Thanks a lot for this rom btw, first thing to download after my crappy job
One question as the curiosity guy I am.....What's the benefits of smartflashing 28g before nvflash besides that smartflashing also flashes the baseband?

As? does 60 minutes?, if it took me 30 minutes to upload it!
If so I'll have to change the server's upload, I'm using Dev-Host
EDIT:
I APOLOGIZE FOR THE SLOW GOING SERVED DEV-HOST DOWNLOADS
This server does not work like that other users of XDA, my downloads do not exceed 146 Kb/s, a real disaster, will have to return to my old server.
EDIT 2:
In the end reached 230 Kb/s about 25/30 minutes to finish downloading, well
Homero now i have only 24 minutes

I'm trying this ROM since yesterday. (aokp_tass_jb 30.05.13.zip)
It seems to be working as smooth as possible for Android 4.2.2 running on this phone.
The installation went fine and for the moment I'm only running the ROM with Gapps pointed. I like the plain design based on Android 4.2.2
The only issues that I found for the moment are. :
- When you lock the phone using PIN security the numbers looks half cut.
- The apps that have a white background, like calendar, messaging or play store, when you open them, the animation of the app opening with white takes over the top status bar and for a second it looks strange the wifi, battery and clock with a white background. I don't know if that is an normal behavior.
I will try it with time and with more apps how it keeps running.
I'm checking how to install and use S2E to have more space on the phone. It will be great if on future versions of this ROM can include S2E.
If anybody has a pointer to install S2E on Android 4.2.2 that works it will be welcome.
It is being a nice ROM to try.

You are right. I'm reading that S2E does not work on AOKP.
I'm trying to use Link2SD but I can not make it recognize the ext4 partition.
- I created the 512MB ext4 partition and let 0 on swap with CWM (5.0.2.8)
- Rebooted and Link2Sd told me it can not mount the partition.
Any tips on how to make Link2SD work?

Today I also noticed that the camera is not smooth as desired. I was taking some pictures and rebooted automatically.

Have a look at these scripts: [SCRIPTS]CronMod-INT2EXT
I suggest using
- INT2EXT+ or
- INT2EXT4+ (if you are using EXT4)
I use these scripts on any JB ROM, including but not
limited to CM10.1 by rohan007 and AOKP JB by erikcas.
[size=+2]Important![/size]
The installation instructions are a bit different!
Boot in recovery
Mount /system
Install zip from sdcard
Format /sd-ext
Reboot
(You have to mount /system or it won't work)
Let me know if that works for you.
Thanks for the reply.
I'm checking it right now.
No it didn't work yet
I followed this:
- I downloaded INT2EXT4+ (CronMod-INT2EXT4+_signed.zip)
- Booted in recovery
- Partitioned the SD Card from the Recovery menu. 512MB, ext4. and 0 on swap.
- Copied the CronMod-INT2EXT4+_signed.zip
- Mounted /system
- Install zip from sdcard (CronMod-INT2EXT4+_signed.zip)
- Wiped Cache, Dalvik
- Rebooted.
Installed again SD2Link, give it admin privilege, selected ext4. It says me that "Mount Script cannot be created".

No, you're supposed to actually format the sd-ext partition, by going to:
mounts and storage => format /sd-ext.
Don't wipe Dalvik cache through recovery after installing any INT2EXT script, if you want to wipe Dalvik,
flash the Dalvik-Cache Wipe Tool under Downloads at [SCRIPTS]CronMod-INT2EXT.
Or use the V6 SuperCharger script.
I'm guessing you mean Link2SD? I don't have much experience with that app,
from what I'm reading is that it should work fine on Jelly Bean with root and an EXT4 partition.
You say you granted root privileges, so I guess the error Mount Script cannot be created could mean that there's not enough space left on /system?
this is a nice rom... really, best so far i've tried... even i'm not using my mini in everyday life... but, am i the only one who got his error... my problem is only home button seems doesn't work after flashing in this rom...... (i don't know if i do something wrong... ) any help ?:cyclops:
