I have made a flashable zip by following balamu96m guide. You can find it attached with this post, If it doesnt work out delete the settings.apk from system/app/ and replace it with the one attached in this post and set permissions as rw-r-r.
Update: 29-April-2012
- Battery Use menu now directs you straight to the settings/About phone/battery use.
- Added new flashable zip
Nice..
When flashing it gives me error status(0) operation aborted.

I have attached a new zip, give it a try. I am not sure if it will work or not. I am not much good at creating flashable zips.
Added new screenshots
Flashable zip doesnt work, need to replace settings.apk (I recommend rename it to settings.apk1 for backup, then copy the new settings.apk, I srly recommend ES file explorer, Its free and no need to change/fix permissions).
Thank you!
Any bugs we should be aware of? I read in other threads (ICS settings in CM7) that manual brigthnessdidnt work and FCs, and another minor bug with location and security, I dont have these issues with this version, brightness work as it should and no FCs... the only thing I dont like its the "Battery use" takes you to the ugly ass battery history from "dev tools" I think... any way to change it to the real battery use located in "settings/About phone/battery use"

Does any one knows the android target class for the battery use in about phone.
for ex:- android:targetClass="com.android.settings.wifi.Wif iSettings"
I need the line marked in red.
And for the flashable zip, I gave it a couple of tries but I wasnt successful in creating one, maybe someone could take a view on the updater-script and let me know what I did wrong.

Sorry for the late response, it should be one of these:
com.android.settings.fuelgauge.powerusagesummary => I think is this one, don't remember
com.android.settings.fuelgauge.powerusagedetail
com.android.settings.BatteryInfo => I think it goes here right now...
com.android.settings.fuelgauge.powerusagedetail => Or maybe here, this one sucks
Sorry I don't know witch is witch but I can't see right now my phone is unenviable due to "rebirth"
------------------------------------
Alright tested, its the first one, the second one its the same as clicking the graphic. If you can change it to the new location I would be very very happy

It was made for O2X and no one using O2X is having the problem. And also the battery menu is included since its there in ICS too, just to make it similar to ICS settings.
And also this mod is made almost 4 months ago, when u flash it its replacing the settings.apk. I am pretty sure during this 4 months CM must have made improvements to settings.apk, so there for by flashing this mod u r replacing the new settings.apk with an old one.
ok i understand but dont you update it? or just please make one with deleted battery menu so i can use it

I hope u can help me.
Best regards.

If you post your ROM I might be able to get it working, otherwise I could try making it a metamorph, shouldn't be too hard.

I'll be back in a few hours, and see what I can do then.
Hey, I did a dirty fix til I've fully understood how Metamorph works
As always, nandroid/bart backup and then you can do 1 of two things.
1. If you've got ADB set up, fire up cmd (win+r cmd) and write:
Code:
cd \
adb remount
adb push framework-res.apk system/framework/
adb reboot
Make sure your framework-res.apk is positioned in C:\ or whatever the main drive letter.
2. Put the .apk on your sdcard and open up your favorite file explorer, copy it, navigate to root and then to system/framework. Paste it and reboot.
Good luck
PM or quote me if you stumble upon any errors.
EDIT: Ow, the color of the text that represents the percent is black and therefore blends in with the background. I'll see if I can find one with white text.
EDIT2: Fix'd. The new one should work, but as always be sure to nandroid just in case

I'm getting the same problem, I'll see if it's something related to the apk
I won't be able to do a port but I'm sure I've seen it be done for the hero, so I could try digging it up.
EDIT: It could be some kind of limitation in the kernel only allowing the battery to go in increments of 20 %. If anyone got a solution I'd be glad to hear it.
Here's the Desire Lockscreen (confirmed to work on CronosDroid 2.1.1) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6806909&postcount=25

Just download the file, rename it to update.zip, put it into the root of your SD card, and flash it. This does not replace your stock android keyboard.
Some users have reported the keyboard crashing when trying to change the settings or add a user dictionary.
Developers, if you can turn this into an .apk file for non rooted users, or solve the crashing problem, this would be great. No forum i could find has done this yet, but I have the most faith in the developers in this forum, good luck!

But it would seriously be a huge help if developers were able to fix some of the features, make the keyboard a little more customizable like being able to take off the korean option on the keyboard

If it force closes on you, you must have changed settings, that's the only reason I can figure that would cause it.
I flashed it by update.zip and I can type perfectly on it, I just can't change setting because then it will force close. I'm sure someone on here can mod that keyboard and fix it though

I got the vibrate to work while i was trying to see if correction and dictionary would work so one thing down but i cant seem to find out how to make the correction and dictionary to work. http://www.mydroid.info/android-apps/optimus-2x-keyborad-android/ here is where i got the file thats smaller and you can just extract and install the keyboard. then if you move all the lib files into you lib folder on the phone and leave the permissions as is the vibration should work thats how it worked for me.
Can't get this to show up in locale and text. I was hoping to convert my wife from iphone to android by initially making her new phone as similar to an iphone as possible. Flashed in cwm. It said success. Can't find.
there are some pretty good keyboards similar to this one on the market
for example https://market.android.com/details?id=com.touchtype.swiftkey&feature=search_result or even iphone-like keyboards
Its not working on my X10?
Please tell me how to use it? Thank very much

LauncherPro: works only with live wallpapers or with normal wallpapers, but you have to hide notification bar on "Appearance Settings" in LauncherPro.
Stock GB launcher: works, no issues.

I think although BlackIce is based on CM, the differences are big and this mod isn't compatible. Even if it wouldn't force-close: this replaces the whole SystemUI.apk which contains the status bar icons for example, so the whole BlackIce look would be changed as well.

I don't know if it's exactly the same for your SystemUI, but here's how I've done it.
After decompiling the SystemUI.apk, go to smali\com\android\systemui\statusbar and open StatusBarService.smali with a text editor, for example Notepad++. Don't use the windows editor, it has problems with unix!
Search for const/4 v5, 0x2 and change it to const/4 v5, -0x3.
Then, go to res\drawable-hdpi and search for the following file: statusbar_background.9.png and edit it with Paint.NET, Photoshop or another programm that can handle transparency.
Here's for example my png for 50% transparency:
It looks solid here, but it's transparent, as you can see here:
Recompile afterwards, and you're done
Thanks, I'll try to do that this afternoon! I'll post back if it works.
---------- Post added at 02:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:31 PM ----------
Ok, the good news is it doesn't FC, but it's not transparent either. Sadly :-( If you have any more ideas, I'm all ears.
Well, either way, thank you very much for your time.
What launcher are you using? Maybe you forgot the specific settings, as stated in the first post.
Nah, I double checked with several launchers (ADW, Go, LauncherPro). :-/
Here's a quick screenshot of the edits:
The edge of the .png looked a little different from yours, if you are wondering why it's not identical to yours. I'm really confused that it doesn't do *anything* at all.
Your edits look good to me.
Maybe something went wrong while flashing..?
I did it manually, once over adb and once over ssh. Android is definitely using the modified file, the old one is in the same folder as SystemUI.apk.old and has a slightly different size. I'm on CM7.1 nightly (2.3.7), would that be a problem? There's (afaik) no stable for the SGS2 yet.
Maybe I did the (de)compiling wrong? Put SystemUI.apk in the appropriate folder, start batch script, select decompile. Go to extracted files and edit as seen above. Then restart the batch script and recompile. Say yes to "system apk?" and yes to "copy back as much as possible?" (or whatever it asked exactly, it certainly asked two things and I said yes to both^^).

This could be the problem! Say yes to the first question and no when it asks to copy over old files.
Hopefully it'll work now.
This mod is meant for people like me, who generally like the stability of the stock rom, but want a better battery meter and the CRT off animation. It may break custom roms and will not work on de-odexed roms.
I just made my first mod. I used UOT kitchen, which is a really cool website to cookup minor mods for most roms. You folks probably knew about it forever, I just discovered it. All hail the creators of this website!
http://uot.dakra.lt/
Anyway, this mod was based off of the framework and system file extracted from my phone which is running:
Stock EI22, odexed with mkasick's kernel and CRT Off Mod Custom and non EI22 roms may not like this mod.
It also includes the CRT-OFF mod that was posted by Tortel1210 (I had that installed when I did the mod.)
I don't know if the kernel version will matter or if it works on any other roms, all I know is it works on my phone.
Flash it using CWM 3.x, I strongly suggest making a backup in CWM (nandroid) before flashing this, just because it works on my phone doesn't mean that it won't cause your phone to burst into flames

Use battery solo widget from the market if this doesn't work for you until we get some themes

If it doesn't work you can go to the website listed in the OP and make your own mods. Its so easy even I could do it!

Would you mind sharing a little bit of how you made this mod with UOT? I tried last night to do some customization using it, but it didn't quite work. The only thing that changed was my font ...
I uploaded my framework-res.apk, twframework-res.apk, and systemUI.apk files, but maybe I selected some of the wrong options? Did you have to do anything in particular to get it to work?
Thanks for you help!
Oh, and thanks for the battery/CRT mod. It worked great!

You're welcome.
Here's how I made this mod. Your steps will be different depending on the mod you do.
Go To: http://uot.dakra.lt, click on Kitchen. Click on Battery (or whatever mod you are doing), select Use this mod. This brings up a list of possible styles and options. Pick what you want. Click "Generate Preview" if you want to see what it will look like. Continue along with Popup, Lockscreen, or any other options you want to modify. You only have to go into the options you actually want to use.
Click on File Upload. Under update-binary, Select "Type Galaxy"
Where it says "Select your rom from kitchen's list, or upload your own files" Select System files.
Below you will see boxes to upload your framework , twframework-res and SystemUI files.
Go to Summay screen. Click "Submit Work to kitchen"
Let's see, how does it go now....
????
Profit.
Anyway, that's the best I can remember. There is a howto section on the UOT page, and the xda thread for it is at:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=990829
I take no credit for this great tool. I'm barely smart enough to use it, let alone write something like that. The sigs at the bottom of the website are:
Qliratu, Mendozinas & Avreen.
These folks are geniuses.
run very well on my ei22...

My favorite mod, does this work with non stock roms? Eg ACS ICS or ERA?

OK, for those of you who have installed this mod, I'm sorry. For some reason it breaks the TW launcher. (I don't use it so I never tested it. Told you I was a noob).
DO NOT select TW launcher as the default launcher, or you will be stuck on an infinite loop of FCs.
If I figure out how to make one that works I'll post it. Otherwise, the only way to get TWLauncher to work again is to restore the original framework and systemUI files, which I don't have.

did you take the file down? i was interested in flashing this. I never use TW Launcher anyway. Can you PM me the file? Thanks
thats unfortunate, just a bug in the kitchen or something? I saw this thread and made a similar battery mod with the kitchen. Chose the one with the smoother looking blue circle.
Anyway, touchwiz is still working for me, no problems.
Hmm, I might try some odexed themes that way.

Edit: Looks like the problems were not related to this mod, so it's back up.

Just tried it, sits at the Samsung screen.

All that I have tested this on is CWM3 purple and stock rooted EI22.
The kitchen's website says:
"Flash your downloaded zip in recovery.
Zips are compatible with Clockworkmod 3"
Maybe clearing caches and dalvik will help?
I don't know how using CWM 4 will affect the results, perhaps that's be why it didn't work for you. Hopefully you have a nandroid backup.

I tried, no dice. Thanks either way
You made my day!
I'm gonna use this framework as a base for an odexed theme. So I can have the CRT off mod.

many thanks for it!
what about improving these settings a little?
I tried these settings.apk http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1526925 and found out that battery usage on main screen works well. So you could copy it to ur version.
And to my mind, you should erase wifi and bluetooth turn off/on in "more" which is under "bluetooth", just because it is on main screen
If u find some time, i will be happy I ask for it, because in that settings from link there are some unnecessary options like "4g" etc...
i dont have too much time now,but in the weekend i will check it
Dont take it like i want to hurry you but... on which weekend?
Uh, this settings.apk is themeable? The themes of CM7 will work on it? =)

i started like you thinkand i realized that it's not hard
So.. i have too much free time, so i decided to try once again, but now i succeed in it !
Here is what i've changed:
- added "battery" in "device" category
- erased "battery usage" from "device info" as it is in main screen
- erased "wifi settings" and "bluetooth settings" from "more..." as it is in main screen (and i wanted "more..." screen to be shorter)
- made better translation for polish language (for myself of course ;p)
I encountered a problem, cause battery icon is just too small, if someone can provide better one, it would be great :>
And i've tried to add wifi and bt toggles to main screen, with copying smali files too, but it didnt work when compiling apk, dont know why.
And i can't make flashable zip, sorry xd Just push settings.apk to system/app and change permissons to -rw-r--r--
Of course thanks to you lowert, i used your base and balambu96 for his guide.
Can use with Zeus Rom

of course can, but probably you will see "cyanogenmod settings" in main screen, which will force close when you click on it :/ If u really want, i can erase it from lowert settings, and then you shouldnt have any problems
