[Q] Newbie Rooter - Motorola Droid Bionic

I have a stock Bionic (OTA 902). I rooted via Motofail. Then I installed Safestrap. Then I installed CMR. I'm Backing up my current stock + root. Am I then safe to remove bloatware w/o fear of getting back to stock?

Here is a great guide to follow... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1455888
As for deleting the bloatware...I would not delete any bloat. I would buy Titanium Backup Pro and just freeze the bloat. There is a list of safe bloat to freeze around somewhere.
Also, with safestrap you can just install a custom ROM without any of the bloat.

Are there any good guides to doing this?

Hi!
I'm new and I can't post in the main discussion and I need help about rooting...
I bought my D4 in USA (to use in Europe) and it comes with ICS, Rsd Lite provide this description:
Software Version: 6.7.2-180_DR4-16_M2-37
Flex Version: XSAMASR01VRZNA025.0R
Bootloader Version: 0a74
Btw, I downloaded the Tool, RSD, Drivers.
After drivers and RSD (by my old motorola experience), I successfully connected my phone, with debug on and MTP.
I tried to root with the tool (function 9) and it seems everything fine...
I've got superuser, but it doesn't work properly...so I don't know if the root was ok or not...
How can I check the situation?
Thanks
Download Root Checker from the Play Store.

If all you have done is root your phone you are still on your stock Motorola ROM. Maserati is just the D4's code name. Now you have the option of installing safestrap recovery and custom ROMs but it sounds like you just want to be able to remove some bloatware apps. You do NOT want to uninstall apps on your stock ROM. If you do you will be unable update to the latest over-the-air updates without flashing the ICS fastboot files. Use an app like Titanium Backup to FREEZE apps.

Thanks again...so I have root permission and Titanium Backup just works perfectly...at least I would like to remove all the apps of Verizon and also unuseful for me (like Amazon, MOG, Netflix...).
At the moment I don't want to install custom ROMs...what is safestrap recovery for?
What does it mean that I will be unable update to the latest over-the-air updates? Can I UNINSTALL the apps with Titanium Backup or should I just FREEZE? SOLVED
Thanks!

Safestrap recovery is a custom recovery that you can boot into that allows you to install custom ROMs (AOKP, CM10.1, etc.). So if you're not interested in custom ROMs don't worry about it.
What I was referring to when I talked about not being able install the latest OTA updates is that if you change anything about the stock system, such as uninstalling a verizon app that you wouldn't normally be able to uninstall, when the next update comes along, like Jelly Bean, it will fail when trying to install. That is why, in general, you should freeze instead of uninstall.

When I was using Stock, I upgraded from 2.1 to 2.2 with no issues.
I did not un-Root and all my apps and settings carried over. Root still worked, but I think I needed to reload the Unknown Sources.
Though I have to say, I'm FAR happier with CM10.2 (Android 4.3) than I ever was with Stock. I've found that most apps that were giving me problems on Stock 2.1/2.2 will now work perfectly under CM10.2, not to mention the seemingly infinite more ways to customize the tablet. But a heads up, if you do go the CyanogenMod route, you will have to start over.

You can go to my HD/HD+ CWM thread linked in my signature and flash the plain stock 2.2.0 from item 6. If you do not wipe, all your apps will be there. Root will be broken but unknown sources stick. So just flash the rev3 of Universal Root and everything will be good. You get automatic ota block with rev3 of Universal Root also.

[Q] Rooted stock ROM without bloat

I had already rooted my phone and have TRWP (Maclaw's) installed. Actually, I am running CM 12.1. But I wanna go back to stock!
But I have some questions:
Where can I download a stock (preferably updated to 4.1.2) ROM?
My device is already rooted, but will I need to flash with SuperSU to give the stock ROM root functionality?
How can I delete Samsung (e.g. ChatON) and Google bloat (e.g. Google+, Hangouts) that comes with the stock ROM?

Backup/Restore and remove Bloatware without root

I am contemplating giving up my root to update to 5.1.1. But I need some advice, on what apps I can use to backup and restore all my apps with app data without root. Also, what apps can I use to remove bloatware without root? These are my two main reasons for root. Thanks

There is no app that will remove bloatware without root. As far as backups go, your best bet would be helium backup,

I think your only option would be to go into application manager and just disable the things you don't want to use. However, there is a finite list of apps you can disable.

Few questions on restore process of rooting

Ok, so I have just a few questions regarding the restore process of rooting.
I am running xposed on the ZV6 Ultrapop rom
1. When I unroot, how should I do it? Would I uninstall xposed then unroot with supersu then finally flash the stock image over my phone? Or is there an easier way?
2. If I restore my phone to stock, will the rooted apps still be there. I am worried because I can't see an uninstall option on some of the rooted apps currrently.I believe that is because I am still rooted but will I be able to uninstall them after the unroot process? (Ex. Adaway, supersu, etc). Basically how would I go about removing these apps? Are then uninstalled when I flash the stock image?
3. In total, how would I return my phone completely to stock? No rooted apps, nothing from the root. If I needed to turn in my phone to sprint they wouldn't have the slightest idea I rooted.
