Yes, you will need to root you X8, Intall a custom recorvey, then Flash a rom!
I recommend Gingerdx 22 (New one is not as good as before...)
I'm new to XDA!

You need root privileges to unlock Bootloader. It says it on the unlocker cmd file. "Getting root rights" or something similar.
Actually, you need to root to do pretty much everything here on XDA.

Yes, but only those for stock kernel. GingerDX and some others work on stock kernel.
Next time use search button.

Oops, was thinking of PrimeHD and then wrote Presto . That's what happens when you use phone in class . Thanks for pointing that out.

Hello everyone
I have an Xperia W8 (X8) which has a manufacture date of 11W44. All I wanted that I wanted to unlock bootloader so that I could install the nAa kernel and then install the ICS rom.
But the guides say that my mfd. date should be before 11W29 :crying:
What should I do? I checked many forums and threads but nothing is matching my problem.
Please help!
THERE IS A SCREENSHOT OF THE "About Phone" OPTION IN SETTINGS

Phone info.
Xperia W8 11W44 (rooted)
Bootloader: most probably locked (idk actually)
ROM: kuyaDROID
Kernel: Stock (because my bootloader is locked )
There is some paid method. Please search

No ics for stock kernel. The only way is to pay for it. Or, risk it. I guess it's safe to say you have 90+% chance of hard brick if you try. Not worth it

Yes, we have an ics for stock. But its laggy and buggy.
Though there are many time for stock kernel

This is my understanding too. Bear in mind that as soon as official updates are released a developer here will make it available on xda. This means you often get updates before you would normally (because they are rolled out at different times depending on carrier and region).

Odexed roms work faster than deodexed. If you don't plan to modify your rom don't deodex it. Though there are many mods for odexed roms too.

The update is only for c5302 Sp models.... If you update your c5303 modern with .284 you will lose 4g connectivity but not much else.
