Hi,
I've a quick or not so quick question, I'm currently using the Arcania mod http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1579813
and right now it uses inverted apps, maybe a lot of people like it, I don't (get headaches
is it possible to re-invert them back to normal, I tried it once with the infinitum mod (copied apk's from another rom) but got a lot of force close errors
thanks in advance
-Chris
Try install gapps via recovery..
If that doesn't work then uninstall all the apps you don't like via titanium backup and then install gapps.
When you tried it with infinitum did you clear the data from the apps that you changed..?
Yeah sure but the inverted apps also included the dialer and contacts and that's not included in the gapps package
Your going to have to extract a stock zip, or any rom that has the stock apps you want and install them manually..
You will have to move them from your sd card to the system and change the permissions first.

At least you need a market app already on your phone.
I think all other ones you can install....
GApps package includes more than just the Google Apps... there are some Google Sync and Backup apps as well... but you could trim down the package to include only those files and remove the actually apps like Gmail...

How can I do it ?
Remove apk's from zip?
Yeah you gotta install gapps or you won't get access to the market

You need some parts of the GApps part... but you can get rid of all the application like FB, Twitter, GMail, Youtube which are now available via the market. If you want to trim down the package... remove all "now-in-the-market" apps from the zip file and resign it and flash it (search for resigning instructions). If you use clockwork recovery, you can turn off signature checks and leave the zip unsigned and flash it.
You should always update to the latest gapps when available. If you don't, and google releases an update to a google app, it will be installed in the nexus one's pathetic internal storage area. (Yes you can then move it manually using rootexplorer to system data)

Hey!
Since I'm flashing alot of ROM's and reinstalling etc all the time, it would be nice not having to make all the Settings over and over again.
Where are the settings stored?
Can't be very hard to create a installable CWM zip-file with those?
I would appreciate any help regarding this...
Cheers!
depends what your trying to save... you can use titanium backup there is a free and donate version and it is a must have app if your flashing all the time...
1 click backup (all apps + data )
1 click restore. saves lots of time and hassle
Thx for your answer!
I know this already, though... I would like to acheive this using a CWM zip, though...
as far as i know its not possible yet.... i tried this myself and couldnt get it to work...
you can go to www.romkitchen.org and there you can select create an update.zip which you can pack all the stock apps and boot animations / keyboards and stuff... that is flashable thru CWM but to make your own zip file full of 3rd party apps wont work.
Ok, alright, thank you for your input!
To clearify, it's only the android settings i want to backup. Not app settings...
But I'm sure you got that already.
well titanium backup can back up system data, but if your flashing a different rom its not recommended to restore system data from the previous rom as this can cause instability issues.
If u use a modded kernel like speedmod in cwm recovery backup data, dbdata and cache. Then you can flash and restore only apps.
For settings use titanium but you need the same base rom or something wrong can happen like random fc.

I just flashed cm7 after a full wipe. Now I put all programs that i wanted to keep on my SD card, but i did lose all contacts (i backed up so no prb). I intentionally did not install the gapps and was trying to only install the market apk so that i could install the gapps manually ensuring they will update later.
how should i handle this? i dont have titanium backup or something, does that work? because I DO want to execute a good full wipe, but obviously I want important data like, sms's; contacts etc to be saved and automatically imported after i flashed cm7
if i transfered a program, for example barcodescanner to SD-card via the manage menu from settings, is that enough to get it back after wiping/factory reset? so I just use the OI file explorer and install the apk... I assume all the apk's are findable, because I am now restoring, so I cannot check, but the whatsapp apk was there and installing worked.
when the above indeed works, does that automatically ensure market updates? or will the programs appear as not yet installed in the market? that will be nasty for some paid apps.
and once again. can I, after a full wipe and flashing cm7, install the market apk from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10527774&postcount=1993
and then just install the gapps from the market? i want that because i could never update google-apps
Hope someone can help me out with these questions, shouldnt be to hard i hope.
edit; I now see that the apk's are not there. I just tried installing whatsapp after flashing cm7 and the apk was there, but apparently that was just about the only program which had a apk in its folder.
one: a wipe deletes the apps on the sd card as well.. so you won't have apps from the old rom on a new one.... use titanium backup.. it DOES work..
two: gapps is better if you *flash* it with the rom.. and they sure get updated.. (if not then you could use rom manager and download the latest gapps update in a zip)
edit: you could even make an update.zip with titanium backup having all the necessary apps that way it would be easier and as you say - automatic..

Contacts are synced using Google cloud sync, built in Android. So is Gmail. So is Google calendar.
Everything else is erased, and kept nowhere. Moving apps to SD won't do a thing for you.
Use Titanium Backup for apps and their data, SMS Backup&restore for SMS, APN backup&restore for APN (if you had to enter one manually), Call backup & restore for call log.
So I am wondering roms and apks.
So I'll just ask you few questions...
1.Do you keep emergency flashable Rom on your sd card?
2.if yes...what Rom?
3.what application instaler you keep on sd card? So you don't have to download them from net/playstore.
Hope you understand my questions.

I always keep the Stock Rom Backup in my SD card. im currently using(testing) JellyBam but have N00by's pure repack of V30B on the sd.
I guess everyone has some apks in their sd to avoid downloading them every time they flash a ROM.
I have Whatsapp, Swype keyboard, Dropbox (where i have more apks), ES File Explorer, Rom Manager, BetterBatteryStats, ChrometoPhone (since i cant download it from the Store cause im from Argentina)... and some other like games..or emulators.
i always have a backed up zeus which i keep(its already configured)
apps...i keep titanium backup and its backed up apps such as sms back up and restore, gmote, flashlight app, xda, skype, facebook
You can even make a flashable zip with the apps you like to push in system. I use my own gapps (stuff removed and maps, streetview, books), a zip with zeam, gingerbreadkeyboard and dictionary and one with titanium, root explorer, betterbatterystats, etc...
I am wondering if someone can make a flashable zip to remove all AOSP apps like phone, contacts, calendar, calculator, mail etc. All this apps are old dinosaurs apps and I am replacing them every time when I flash ROM. Also same thing with Music FX or DSP Manager. Because I am using Viper4Android I have to remove them before I flash Viper.
I have no skill come to that but will be nice if someone can create flashable zip or aroma installer which will remove all of that. Anyone?
"...old dinosaur apps..."
That still work. But I understand where you're coming from. With Google now updating most apps included in AOSP through the Play Store now the versions still in AOSP no longer get updated. What are you replacing these apps with, and is it a flashable zip you're using or a manual install?

If you install "Stock" or "Super" OpenGapps, it automatically replaces them I believe.

Yes, also with aroma open gapps I can simply replace anything I need. But, there is a catch. All this apps when they get updated in Google Play they stay where they are and new copy is installed like a duplicate. So you can uninstall update and get back to old version. That part I don't like. Why on Earth I need old app?
While apps installed from Google Play when they get updated they will be simply replaced. That is the reason why I would like to create aroma installer to remove all this apps from the system. Then I choose pico apps and everything else grab from Play Store.
I believe that make sense, right?

There appear to be duplicates because the original GAPPS package installed the AOSP version as a System App. When the app gets updated from the Play Store, the update is installed as a User App. So when you re-install/dirty install with the Stock or AROMA package, it does remove the System version, but not the Updated/User Version.
The only way around this that I know of is to not let apps update or install the desired GAPPS package from the very beginning.
There are also flashable mods that remove GAPPS, like this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/themes-apps/script-google-apps-debloater-t3446118. It works on the Nexus 6 as well, although it doesn't remove 100% of what it says it does. It's been hit-and-miss for me, but does work for the major debloat (international keyboards).

Dirty flashing instead of updating core apps is just to much to play for me. I don't have that time anymore ;(
I like to keep it simple is possible.
That script is very similar to what I am trying to do. I need same thing but with AOSP core apps plus music fx and dsp manager to be included also. That way my way of flashing will look like: flash ROM, remove AOSP core apps, flash pico open apps, flash viper, supersu... done
Now all I need to do download the rest from G play. Updating will not make any duplicates. All is clean, lean and fast

I am updating them with original Google versions from G Play.
If you really want to do this, the best way is by doing, because it's unlikely anyone is going to do it for you. Download a flashable zip from the forums, unzip it, extract the updater-script from the META-INF folder and open it. See what the script does, and then try making your changes to that script. Each app you want to delete will be on its own line in the script, and each will use either of the following commands.
Code:
delete("system/app/folder/apk");
delete_recursive("system/app/folder");
In the above, folder is the app's folder, and apk refers to the app itself. The first removes individual files. The second removes entire folders.

Thanks a lot. I will give it a try. Not my thing but seems simple enough

If you can boot into OS before removing them, then you can just root your device then get a file manager that you can give root access before going into the filesystem and just deleting the apps from there.
