I have an SGS GT-I9000T. I have been flashing ROMs for the past twelve months without issue - until now. I flashed a ROM from RomKitchen - and it went well. I had two to three bars (fluctuating) signal strength - where I would otherwise have three. I didn’t check to see if I could make a phone call - but I had no Internet access when using it as a mobile AP. Nor could I load pages with the phone’s browser. Decided to revert back to the backup - and that went well too. However - I am now left with no service.
I have tried several times now to revert to the backup. I have flashed several different ROMs through CWM and Odin. I have flashed different modems. I’ve wiped data / factory reset / cache partition / dalvik cache before flashing - after flashing - and re-flashed. I’ve used the *2767*3855# code. Nothing has worked.
I have spent the past week looking for a solution - and I understand that there is a lot of information on similar issues both here and on other sites - but nothing has helped.
One suggestion was to flash back to the stock ROM. I cannot however find a stock Telstra ROM. Found links to some - but they’re all down.
The IMEI is good - matches the one printed on the phone under the battery.
‘Telstra’ is listed on the lock screen - not sure if that means anything though.
Settings > About phone > Status - lists Phone number and Network as unknown. Signal strength as -111 dBm 1 asu. Mobile network state as Disconnected. Service state as Out of service.
Settings > Wireless and network > Mobile networks > Access point names - has nothing selected. Setting APNs to default on CM leaves nothing selected - and selecting the correct one does nothing. On Darky’s ROM setting APNs to default clears all listed - and I get the ‘No items’ screen instead.
No idea what to do...
here are some stocks:
register to samfirmware.com
if you are in north america
if you are in middle east
both links confirmed...

While I was flashing a hero rom, I accidentally chose restore nandroid backup and aborted in the middle when i was in cyanogen's recovery. So I wiped, partitioned, wiped, and flashed. The Rom flashed successfully but I can't connect to any data networks.
It shows the APN I'm using is epc.tmobile.com but there's no icon (3g or EDGE) next to the bars on the top that show my signal; I cannot do anything that requires a data network (can't browse the net). Please help me. Under settings where it shows network operators, it shows select a network operator no matter how many times i choose t-mobile. I already re-flashed the radio again too (2.22.19.26).
I reflashed 3 different roms already, hero and donut roms. Everytime, i can't get into any data networks. I should add that in the apn list there's never more than 2 apn's (both epc.tmobile.com) Any other ideas? Thanks, any help is appreciated.
Why not restore the nandroid backup you aborted? If not, reflash the radio.
Fixed...sorry everyone.
I tried calling t-mobile again to have them reset the network for my device and this time it fixed my problems.
Hi all, well, here is my problem.
I have my stock rom 2.1 eclair from Personal, Argentina, and i flash the phone to put the 2.1 ARO (Unbranded). After the flash, the phone works great for a while, then i lost connection, and i coulnt connect to my network anymore. I couldnt performs calls, sms, or whatever related with communication. I only have wifi.
If i access to Mobile Networks -> Net Operators, the phone keeps searching and never retrieve the list of network operators. My apn list is empty, and i couldnt add new ones, mannually or by APN Restore & Backup software. The network mode is not selected, but if i choose one mode, it doesnt selected it.
I Flashed the phone with Odin, with and without repartition, but it still having errors.
Any one can help me?
Factory reset first .
jje
i've performed a factory reste, but nothing happends...
try to deactivate the mobile data and restarting the phone this worked once for me, if that doesnt work i would suggest trying another rom this also worked once for me. And if all else fails then your gonna have to send it back for repair, i had to do that last time this happened. I put on the 2.2 update from my carrier and told them that the phone messed up after updating.
The endless searching for a carrier is normal, but you should be able to enter apns manually. Search for the code to check IMEI and confirm you have one listed.
If you have a backup of your efs file, you can restore that and see if it solves the problem, or load an Argentinian csc file (they may have one in the ROM Kitchen that you can cook as an update.zip) .

Just rooted my Canadian Telus Milestone phone and successfully installed CyanogenMod 7. As I am new here, the forum software will not let me post a link to the instructions that I followed. You'll have to add the http stuff to the beginning to make the following link work.
web.cs.dal.ca/~darndt/other/moto-milestone-flash/
I used the Telus 2.2.1 ROM, and then CM7 version: update-cm-7.1.0-RC2.1-11.05.11-Milestone-signed.zip
Eveything works great, except that I cannot enter the APN information for my carrier (Fido / Rogers). Settings | Wireless and Networks | Mobile Networks | Access Point Names is the path I followed. Pressing "menu" at this point gives the option "New apn", which I select. Then nothing. Blank screen. No 'form' to fill in like one usually gets on this phone.
The other option on that screen is "Reset to default". I tried that as well. There are no APN settings available to choose from.
\system\etc\apns-conf.xml is on this phone, and there are three entries there for Fido. None of them are being picked up by the phone, and I have no data connection.
The telephone works. Wifi works. All the apps work. I just cannot enter the Fido APN values, which I know, and which I know work. This phone has run on the Fido network for over a year with no trouble prior to installing the CM7 ROM image.
I've tried posting at (http//android.doshaska.net/cm7, but Nadlabak is but one guy, and he appears to be swamped.
Any suggestions?
Frank.

I would do a full wipe and start over (installing CM7).
I run my phone on rogers and sometimes fido and have tried most (all?) ROMs on this forum and have never heard of this issue.
You dont need to re sbf the phone. Just do all 3 wipes and reinstall CM7, google apps and choose telus baseband.
If it doesnt work for CM7, give another ROM a try...

Thanks. I'll give that a shot.
Now, you say all 3 wipes. The only wipe that shows up in Androidiani Open Recovery 1.46 is the Dalvik Cache. There are no entries in OR 1.46 for the other two. How do I wipe data and cache?
Thanks for the help. This is the first clear response I've heard so far.
Frank.
Caz666:
OK, quite by accident I found out that OR 1.46 has two additional menu items below "wipe Dalvik cache", but one has to SCROLL to get to them. The remaining two items: factory reset and wipe cache were both there. Once I cleared everything, reinstalled CM7, reinstalled Google apps, and set the baseband to Telus, my phone rebooted clean, and immediately connected to Fido - voice AND data!!!
Funny how the simplest of things can trip up a newbie.
I've been a hobbyist programmer in C and Pascal, I've been running Linux on my home and business computers exclusively for over 5 years, yet I was lost on this new platform.
So satisfying, however, to finally get it to work.

Hi guys,
So I had this problem before, but the Captivate magically fixed itself. This time... not so much. Or not yet anyway.
Upon boot I get a "No network" symbol. Sometimes it shows the bars on boot, but quickly reverts to the no network status. I just flashed the newest version of Cognition with the accompanying kernal. I have bounced around through various roms and kernals all night, but the problem seems to carry over (even after wiping the data/cache/return to blah blah).
Any ideas?
Try some other modem......

Crispy1805,
Try going to Access Point Names and tap menu then Reset to default. Once it populates at the top of ur screen, tap the dot, it will turn green and u should be good to go.
Menu/ Settings/ Wireless and network/ Mobile networks/ Access point names/ then menu/ "Reset to default" then tap the dot selector. Reboot should not be needed.

Apn are for data right, is this anyway related to connectivity to the network.
Yes, you need to be accessing at&t's access point to connect to it's network...
Hm, tried that, no avail. The problem is that it is not detecting any "bars" at all. I removed the sim, same problem. My Infuse is showing bars in the same location, so its not a network problem.
Did you make a backup of your efs folder you can restore?
Good point, let me check and try that if I can find it.
gah, I cant find it.
Try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=15158920 ... Use the 3 file version. It is kf1 stock, but the kf1 came with a seperate CSC .tar file and the kf1 is a full wipe... Worth a shot. But u need to already have the i897 bootloaders.
If this works, then u can move on to kh3 or whatever u r wanting to go to...

I flashed back to stock (enclair---odin 1 click and master clear), but it is still not showing any network /bars. I tried this --
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=881162
but all of the values were already correct. When I check for an IMEI it says "not registered on the network" --- but it can't SEE the network as far as I can tell, so that makes sense. Perhaps the network card isn't coming on at boot?
Any more ideas?
This had happened to me recently, Some how 1 of my captivate lost the original imei and had the generic one 0000461090000, When u chek under the status it shows the details but no connectivity. I restored the imei and all ok.
Mine has its generic IMEI. It was sim locked for some reason, but I fixed that--- still no signal , just the blue circle with the bar through it. Under status:
Network -- Unknown
Signal Strength -- 0 dBm 0 asu
Mobile network type -- GRPS
Service State -- Out of Service
Roaming -- Not Roaming
Mobile network state -- Disconnected
Again, the Infuse right beside it is picking up signal (2 bars of "4G" i.e. 3.5G)
Update: Flashed to 2.3
Now the signal strength -- -111dBm 1asu
The rest is still the same :-\
Generic imei does not works in India we cannot register without a proper imei but it works in US members here have confirmed this. Check your lock status with *#7465625# what it says.

Just out of curiosity...If I make a backup of my efs folder now while running the FASTY II (KH3 i897 ROM) then flash say, Rom EPIC (JVS I9000 ROM) and end up having no network (This actually happened) will I be able to successfully restore the efs folder without having any problems?
Yes you can restore it.
Do you think its an EFS folder problem? I am clueless at this point.
Code:
You have a generic imei and it is quite possible the problem is coz of that.

No, I do not have a generic IMEI.
I just flashed kabaldans Cyanogenmod 7.1.4 coming from 7.1.1. Like I've done many times, changed baseband to "Venezuela - Mobilnet" in OR, updated google apps and everything.
But now my phone says "Emergency calls only", when I check the network operators option it only shows one of the three operators in my country, and the one that my phone is registered to does not show up. Ive tried reflashing the baseband 5 times but the result is the same, still can't connect to the network for calls, much less data.
EDIT: I flashed 7.1.1 and the network works just fine..
if you've tried setting Baseband, why don't you go ahead and file a bug at http :// code.google.com /p/cyanogenmod4milestone/issues (sorry, new user, can't post links...) so kabaldan/nadlabak can fix it?
I would definitely try reflashing to the newest and using openrecovery to flash the baseband onto it. I can't imagine that would have been a broken feature.
