Comparison of 7300 battery life with ipad - Galaxy Tab 8.9 General

I am a huge anfroid fan like anyone else here. But having used ipad 1 earlier, i feel let down by the 7300 in terms of battery life n the fluidity of the os. Never faced such adilema with the s1 or s2 or even the note. Maybe, ics will fix these problems, who knows...

what to upgrade to? my options?

i wonder how the sgs-2 is doing
as an upgrade from the sgs i9000 should i go for it or is another crazy specd phone out ?
thinking of upgrading but will still keep the sgs as a backup
4g is out of the Q since my provider is only thinking about it, latest models from htc? samsung? Sony?
looking for top of the line specs here
If you are looking for top of the line you should consider the SGS2. I just played with this phone for an hour and it is blazing fast and really beautiful, the widgets, touchwiz, bigger screen, animations, time of response...everything is better.
And it has no real competitor.
Just check some reviews betwen HTC Sensation vs. Galaxy S II vs. Optimus 2X and you will see that it is not a head-to-head competition.

thanx for the advice ^_^
Wait for iPhone 5 .. it may be worth it.. I say this cause there is still the age old problem of battery drain and ocassional lag here n there .. when it comes to smoothness n reliability android is behind ios. But if it were me I'd probably go for s2 cause of d SCREEN..

thanx for the info, id keep the iphone and its ease of use to my old folks, im sticking with android and the big community. Things are progressing like crazy, its simply amazing
P.S
the Sgs II is selling like crazy, and amazingly its only ordered in small numbers around the mobile phone shops
went looking for 1 today and had no luck, small Q here does it only come in 16gb internal mem ? i hear there's a 32gb version but nowhere to be found or am i wrong?

Your next phone?

After owning the galaxy there's no question in my mind most of us will remain with Samsung and android especially people who use custom Roms. But what's next after having this amazing phone?
It has been a year now since I've had mine, and obviously its soon time to upgrade.
For me I think ill skip the galaxy S 2... I don't think its worth the upgrade just yet.
I am waiting to see if Samsung will release a phone with 2gigs of ram and maybe a quadcore? 2ghz CPU?
That's my dream within the next year but that's unlikely so ill likely settle for 1.5 gig in each and dual core CPU.
I wonder what area will get more attention in the near future.
Galaxy S III but its not out till later next year or the Nexus Prime
Possibly a Nexus 3 or a Galaxy S III. I really wanted a Nexus One but the GS is my first Android phone and the Nexus s wasn't all that appealing to me. I don't plan on buying a new phone until early next year so right now I would say it could be either of those two.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
I'll skip the SGS2 also and wait for number three, right now with all the custom roms I am very pleased with my SGS
What do you guys believe should be the focus of future upgrades?
Battery life?
More features? 4g etc nfc .. better front facing camera?
Or performance improvement?
We know they will attempt to do it all but the likelihood of pulling off everything is very low.
Samsung Galaxy Note 5,3 Zoll
SGS II .

I think that they must give us a battery which can last for days otherwise, why do I need the phone which is on the power almost every night? What if I want to take it to the hiking or camping? Or, they can make solar cells in the back. There is nothing else that they can add to this phones , maybe altimeter, barometer. But I think they will go the pc way, programs and games will get bigger and needy, so performances will follow..

There was a rumor going around that Amazon was making a Mobile Phone. The battery cover had solar cells on the back.
I have a G2x right now, and I'm in no rush to upgrade. My phone is up to par with most devices out right now.

I would expect when they get the 2012 quad-core
I'll wait a couple of years, when there will be a 16-core which can do me a coffee, teleport me and make me travel in time
Xiaomi M1!
Most probably the Galaxy prime, looks sexy to me. My galaxy s now feels slow after I tried a dual core.phone.

Definitely not a phone bigger than the SGS.
I want a phone, not a tablet. The Prime and the SGSII are automatically eliminated.
Fortunately my SGS and Atrix will buy me time, until the right form factor comes along with the extra muscle under the hood...

For anyone else not happy about battery life on the SGS, get yourself a Samsung Armani 1650Mah battery. (Same physical size as stock!)
I get a day to day and a half with no problems, and I abuse my battery. (especially with the display and browsing)
I can easily make it through the day on a full charge...

Changing GT8.9

I just love my 8.9, definitily because screen size, but after decades waiting ICS I gave up, its time to change, JB is not a reality in Sammy devices so I thing ICS is ok, but my question is, what is the best option, I saw any detail in gsmarena and 7.7 looks like the best choice, all spec better instead of screen
What about?

Rooting and flashing JB on your tablet is your best option. Only thing you won't have is your camera.
Sent from My Beastâ„¢
I think custom Rom is a great job, but I use my tablet camera a lot, even being a 3M, the best option would be a Sammy Rom, 7.7 super amoled and 196ppi looks good, 1.4G exynos too, would be anwsome a GT8.9 with these spec.
Sent from my GT-P7300 using xda app-developers app
Any tablet with a Super AMOLED screen would be awesome, but it would also be bloody expensive.
Come on, man! You have waited until now, and when ics is on its way, you give up.
btw, 7.7 is small. If you have a decently sized smartphone, the 7.7 is too small for a tablet . That's why 8.9 is great, because it's the perfect size.
Anyway, this is all your choice.
You are perfect right, 8.9 is the perfect size, I really dont understand why it is unique, Xoom 8.2 looks like very good
but I heard something about a poor battery time.
Sent from my GT-P7300 using xda app-developers app
So, you don't have many options: Keep the galaxy tab 8.9 (these days we are getting ICS), buy the galaxy tab 7.7(too small), buy the xoom 8.2 media edition(very good tablet, very good battery life), wait for the ipad mini (don't kill me) or head to the 7-inchers.
If I helped, press thanks, it means very much for a newbie.
Yeah I'm still waiting on ICS (mainly so somebody can port JB with the camera, HDMI out etc. drivers) because the size of the tab is just right. I find the 10" tabs just that tiny bit too big and the 7"s, while great as e-readers, sometimes I just think "It's too small for web browsing without zooming so I might as well use my phone", this is particularly true for people with a Galaxy Note.
I believe ICS on our device is due this month (all the other tabs have gotten it so ours is next on the list), so not long now, and if you are able to flash custom ROMs, somebody's likely going to grab the drivers from Sammy's ICS and use them to complete a JB rom.
8.9 is the perfect size for a tab. But much needed updates are screwed up by Sammy. Also no ext sd card slot is a pain. Otherwise perfect. 7.7 is a tad smaller & pricey. Wait till ics gets out & we will have some good custom roms to play with. Also the camera drivers for cm9 cm10 also will get sorted out.

As a reader of Linus Statement if you open my chest you will find a linux disk inside rs..., so ipad (at any size) would be not a possibility, but I liked to know xoom batt has a good performance, I read opposite in many places, so I'll dream about a galaxy note 8.9 (its free )
Sent from my GT-P7300 using xda app-developers app
If Sammy 8.9 had Exynos chipset, faster firmware updates, Amoled screen and SD card slot it would be the best tablet. I hope they come out with galaxy tab 2 8.9 with quad core CPU, S Pen, a little bigger battery and full hd screen, because tab 2 10.1 is worse than the old 10.1 and tab 2 7.0 is worse than 7.0 plus.
Galaxy tab note 10.1, now I have something to dream...
Sent from my GT-P7300 using xda app-developers app
Note 10.1 seems like the best tab ever, but I still prefer the shape, size and weight of this one to any other tab.

I've been dreaming of this for a long time...
Do you think that Apples lawsuits will compromise Samsung willingness to produce our dream?
For now I'll be fine with my 8,9 but the note 10,1 is on my wishlist for christmas
As said earlier 8,9" is a nice and practical size. A note 10,1" is a little to big for being on the move but will do fine until a SGT 8,9 II comes around.
Now back to testing the new official ICS!
I'm not quitting my 8.9 but I must admit that I'm disappointed with the late update for ICS... I can only imagine that will be no chance for us to get an official JB.
I gave up. Christimas is near and galaxy note 10.1 will be my next toy. 8.9 (my first love) will be my second tablet only for custom roms

If it had Google Now it would be better than Nexus 7

Just sayin, this tab is so much sweeter now, it seems, to me to be much smoother. Chrome on this is much better. I'm not hating on the Nexus 7, heck I love it, it's just that I feel this is a better form factor.

I find more pauses and hitches on the 8.9 ui than on the nexus 7. It's a major improvement over hc but there's no doubt the 7 benefits from the newer processor. I have a 7 plus that seems smoother than the 8.9 but is showing some WiFi issues after the ics update.
What I love about the 8.9 is the screen size. I use it when I want the extra screen size which is often. So far the update seems to be a solid improvement...

[Q] Which one's better? Note 1 or Grand?

Hi, I searched the internet to find that there are two phones I can buy which are in my range: Galaxy grand and galaxy note. I have to choose one of them. Please tell me which one I should buy and why.. some points like larger screen, s pen, 1.4 GHz processor are making me want to buy the note. The websites on first page of google also tell that note is better, but I want to know what you guys think?
I will buy used phone, as prices of new ones are almost double.
What is the average battery life of these mobiles? Not the standby time which they say on the features list, but the average usage time as experienced by the users. Are there any hardware related problems which many users generally face? Should the fact that note is one year older bother me?
If anyone is reading from Pakistan, I would love to take a look if you suggest me another phone with second-hand price around 23,000 to 29,000 PKR, having more than 4.3 inch screen, at least 8 mp camera, jelly bean and at least 1.2 GHz processor?
I currently have HTC sensation so I don't want to switch to an HTC device.
Thanks.
Note 1 is way better
Note has better gpu than grand
Grand has poor diaplay compared to note..
Spen is unique abt note..
Camera too also is better of note..
I compared both devices in real lifre I feel note better
So I bought note = better..
Both devices will get 4.2.2 as last update (thogh not officially confirmed)
Battery back of note is good..
Its good in playing games..
Note has way better development than grand..
All roms exists for note..

Thanks, what's the battery life in hours? Sensation's life is around 6 hours with normal use and games and heavy browsers drain whole battery in maximum one hour. I will be highly inclined towards one phone if it has much more battery life in comparison.
