Rom Toolbox problems.... - Dell Streak 7

I have been trying to change notification icons with Rom Toolbox pro, but they are not taking. I am on R8. My other Streak with stock HC the changes work. Anyone else tried this and having problems?
Thanks.

Are you useing R8 source files to do the changes, or sharing the same modified file?
R8 might be different enough that it doesnt like that.
Try redoing it with the R8 donor file

Thanks for the answer Manii. No idea. Feel like Penny when Sheldon explains physics to her!

Could be an issue with the UOT website...i'll post back here in a bit because i'm about to do a full wipe, cook up my UOT and put that into the ROM, resign and then flash...so if i get stuck at the UOT part of it i'll let you know.
Edit: Worked for me boss...
I tried again just now and it worked like a charm. maybe the sight was bogged down from do many people recooking their roms after downloading the new cm6.

is streak 7 in the CWM device????
THX
Not yet, because a recovery image hasent be successfully dumped to compile a CWM recovery. One that is done Koushik Dutta will add it to the supported device list.
I am working on that now.
Be patient everyone

Tried playing with it tonight. Found out that Dell™ has set this beast up a little different than conventional devices that you can dump from. I should have something by Sunday at the latest, but I will keep you guys posted. Thanks for the support. As for hellzya, I will work on some kernel tweaks as well, but not until I get this CWM recovery first. Cant afford to brick this just yet. Once I have this done, I will probably push a kernel before I push a rom, cause if I can get the battery drain down, I can convince other devs to buy this device and play with it.

This is great - so glad to see someone working on this device!

Ya im not concerened with a rom. Cool!!!

I tried to look over how the streak's file system is built and it seems it does not use the standard mtd setup like most android devices which would allow for a quick recovery partition download...
Sent from my Dell Streak 7 using XDA App
That was my assessment too. I need to figure out an alternative to the conventional mtd dump. If you guys figure it out before I get off work, please post it and I will work on it tonight.

Hey. If you go into ROM manager and select flash recovery two devices come up. the Advent Vega and the Elocity A7 both of which are Tegra 2. Would one of these work? I'm assuming not but figure maybe because their HW is similar maybe one of those recoveries would work. I always thought ROM manager would only show compatible recoveries as options.
Its quite possible, but I aint got the balls to test it out, lmao. But if anyone feels froggy, have at it and post results.

hmm well looking at the specs of each, the Vega has the same cpu I believe while the A7 has the 1.2. and overall besides the screen size differences the S7 is more like the Vega than the A7.. ok.. What's the worst that can happen if I try to flash it? I just wont be able to recover in case something happens? It might just give me an error if it tries to flash and fails...
hmmm I'm debating... should I try?
well I just tried flashing the one for the A7, didn't work but I also didn't lose stock recovery and everything is ok.. Going to try the other now but think it will be the same
tried the other.. same results.. oh well at least I gave it a shot..
I figued they wouldn't work, but it was a possibility.
Yeah, ClockWork seems to be pretty much inoperable. It will install and execute but that's about it.

[03/06] Hinted White Lockscreen - Official Gas update

If you are a fan of ClassicalGas's work (e.g. you use his JAMT theme chooser theme) and would like to use one of his lockscreen's then look no further:
http://themedroid.com/2011/06/hinted-white-lockscreen/
Gas has updated the theme for use on CM7. Here are the instructions from his site:
Install ZipThemer (consider donating for this wonderful tool)
Download the zipped file
Open ZipThemer and press “+Theme”
Locate the downloaded file
Press “Build It!”
Create undo file
Flash outputted file via recovery or RomManager
Enjoy
Screen shots below (also from Gas's website).
Thanks for doing this! I Hadn't got around to it myself (and probably wont for a while).

Awesome! Thanks a lot.

Hi Gas, no problem at all! Happy to help
Worked perfectly! and looks awesome with the JAMT - White Gradient theme!!
-Evo, CM7,n76
Yessssssss!
hm. cant get it to work.
It flashes alright but only thing changeing is the 'answering sliders' not anything on the lockscreen.
Im running JAMT-donate via the theme manager and im guessing i might have to use the system-defult to see the changes(?).
Any way to solve this?

I think the sliders are themed by the theme chooser so it may not actually be changing anything. Is it flashing properly?
(You might wanna remove the number from the pic too)

I think it would, there may be a few redundant images in the zip you could delete to streamline the package but the sliders should theme.

[Q] Starting Rom Development

I want to start developing roms for my Droid 3, P.S have had experience with rooting, rom, and the rest. But though I have tested a lot, never actually had an experience building them. I was hoping someone could lead me in the right direction. I saw that for HTC devices they have something special, think it was called Android Kitchen or something. Anything like this for Motorola devices? Specifically the Droid 3?
Uot kitchen? I've tried to use it to make some changes but it always fails to install the zip so I gave up w/ it.

Have you tried replacing the update-binary in the uot zip with the one from your stock rom
Sent from my rooted xt860
Anyone else? Has anyone tried replacing the update-binary with the stock rom one, as Endoroid said? Any help is appreciated!
Replacing the updater-script file should work but uot kitchen can only mod framework-res.apk and systemui.apk i would look at a tool that can decompile and recompile like Apk_Manager_5.0.2
Thanks, i look into that later today, but does it work with Droid 3?

CleanROM Inheritance coming to the Nexus 7

Some of you may know me form the TF700 and TF300 Asus forums on XDA.
I have been able to significantly speed up those devices by rebuilding scrosler's CleanROM stock base and tweaking it. I have just successfully done the same on the N7 version and it is flying.
Now I need a few testers to make sure it works for all. The ROM is ready to go now but I will release it in the next few days pending testing.
Anyone fancy a quick stock N7 rom to test? :fingers-crossed:
Pm me please.
VaderSKN is avalaible for testing!

Will this be fore 3G also?
I'm down to test. Don't be alarmed by my "junior member" status, I have 2 profiles.
Im running multiboot, and would like to run and test it on that setup.

So how is it? Scotty's ROMs are pretty damn good..... So if he can making it better/faster, that's kick-ass!
Got enough testers for now! :good: Thanks everyone for the help.
Check your Pms!

Any plans to add this fix for empty app-mounted directories?
I am running cleanrom 3.0 with leankernel 1.2 and really like both alot. Thanks very much for your efforts.
My only issue is with mounting ext3/ext4 usb sticks and hard drives. They appear to mount using stickmount but the files aren't visible
in Root Browser or ES File explorer.
I'd like to be able to mount them manually using busybox mount/umount and I think what follows may work without relying on stickmount.
Please have a look here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2106480
Is it possible to add either of these patches to your rom and/or kernels?
Thanks again.
